  1. I only fish a senko around spawn when fish are spread shallow on the shoreline...and it bores me.
  2. I used to use a weight that is/was used in old windows. It acted as a counter balance to the window. was about 1-2 feet long, cylinder, and weighed most likely around 5 pounds. It worked great. Same concept as a chain, without the noise.
  3. When you say shallow, does that mean they come straight up from the depths and hover suspended under the surface,or are you refering to the fish moving towards the bank? Bass follow the food. Lots of new things to eat along flooded banks, which bring in insects-bream-bass-etc. I usually find they move off points and will bury in the grass, or along any wood cover. I would beat the bank and beat the grass.
  4. I have to agree with Pondmaster. If he was catching them on Cranks, did you ever change to one? I would have looked for isolated cover or structure around the areas you fished. Did you ever have control of the boat? Also, with these central IL lakes, I tend to slow it down quite a bit. Seems like everyone these days around here are fishing kvd style. What lake were you on?
  5. I think they can all catch fish, just a matter of what depth they are at. I think it is more important than when bass fishing. My go to post follow lure is a Lindy tiger tube. Great action and perfect hook up ratio. Drives them nuts and the price is not too bad.
  6. I was always a big fan of powerpro if and when I had to use braid. However I wanted to be cheap as I am buying a new boat and tride out Strens braid. Used it yesterday pitching/flipping, and a bit of casting. It worked just fine for have the price.
  7. I agree with the style somewhat, in that i tied snelled and did like that aspect. What i dont like is the round bend does not allow the bait to be t-rigged hardly, and that bait keeper did not keep bait. Any how, much better success with others, guess that hook is just not my cup of tea.
  8. Just got a gold e21 two weeks ago. Have not broke it yet although it has limited use, dont use a spinning rod much. Caught about 6-7 on a shakey head, all around 2#'s Honestly, I laugh at the guides, they look like they are off of a 15 dollar rod.
  9. Really I know there are several threads on this topic, just not this hook imparticular so i wanted to make it interesting, thus the title. The Trokar flipping hook to me is an old school trout line, I am not sure what you could punch with that? It is honestly a hook i would only use to long line. It is very wide, angled so as not to ride well(or at all) with punching baits, and has a rubber piece at the eye that only tears baits, does not hold them. Am I losing my marbles here or is this a terrible hook for the application??? On the other hand, if you melted lead around it, in the right mold it would make a decent jig hook.
  10. No worries,...they are zoom and are priced good. Great bait.
  11. Not sure who you're quoting, but the APR on an FHA loan is much higher than a conventional loan. On the below site it's 0.75%. This rate is due to paying higher fees. That's a LOT of money over the life of a mortgage. http://www.totalmortgage.com/current-mortgage-rates.asp You're advice is sound financial advice, but has nothing to do with getting a credit card and building a good credit score. For every person who is living paycheck to paycheck with a high score there is another that has a high credit score, no debt, and plenty of savings. The higher APR is due to the upfront mortgage insurance premium. Rate on an FHA runs about the same. The upfront MIP essentially allows a lower monthly mortgage insurance paymert. 600 fico can qualify, but really there are not a lot out there that will do it under 620, which will also have some large hits to your rate. Also, manual underwrites are a thing of the past, and not traditional credit qualifying is gone.
  12. This is my go to bait. Also try the yum money hounds. Have used it sparingly, really did not like the hook up % on it. Like the action, great prefishing bait imo.
  13. X4 I would never swing a 5# fish in the boat unless i had some braid in the 30# plus range, and really, i would never swing a 5# fish at all. Also, realize that line test strength is at a constant pressure, when a fish thrashes it increases the weight (read tension) put on the line.
  14. If water is up, fish tend to push shallow. I would start there.
  15. I hate senko fishing... Senkos catch fish, I use it when someone i fish with starts to catch quality.
  16. Wow. No I had not, but I imagine that I do. Something to watch out for.
  17. I will be fishing from the back of the boat, and i know the guy will do a bit of frog fishing in the morning- I want to follow up with somthing different since I usually fish frog from the front. If he starts catching, im changing. Typically I would throw either a spro, horny toad, or fluke. I may try a rage tail shad as i know I can throw that a mile. Never used the space monkey, may give it a shot. I could always scare the life out of the guy and throw a 3:16 no bull frog. Caught some monsters on private ponds, just have not had the guts to bring that beast in public!
  18. My all time go to craw now. Love it. T-rigged and as a trailer. IMO, fish do hold on longer to berkley.
  19. I may end up putting the 75 optimax on instead of a 90elpto...pros or cons?
  20. no stretch on the hook set.
  21. Honestly, I have about 4k in musky baits and all i throw now are large swimbaits, all year round. I sharpen every hook but the jigs i buy to put on shad bodies are all very sharp. My one stop shop for anything musky is muskyshop.com As far as the rod, I throw a c4 abu, on an all star rod most of the time with 65# power pro and 80# fluro leader. I catch most of my musky any more bass fishing on bass rods and 12# mono...That is a lot more fun to me now instead of throwing big musky baits all day.
  22. Only get one through your local bank or credit union you already use. Dont have more than a 30% balance/available credit ratio and you will only need one credit card. I am 26, one credit card, and have great credit.... The one credit card allowed me student loans, car loans, boat loans, and the ball and chain mortgage. I still only have one credit card.
  23. First time fishing as a co-angler as i am between boats. Million dollar question, boaters plan IMO is way off whack for this body of water. What and when should I downright disagree, I kept it cordial at introduction and only disagreed with his plan in theory, on the water, not sure how I am going to be able to handle a poor plan and no boat control. Anyhow, maybe the fish are chasing shad up the creeks? :-? Guess I have just tore them up deep... Any thoughts?
  24. fronts are about the only time I downsize. that being said, what kind of fish do you want to catch, quantity or quality? For confidence, go with a good compact bait that moves water. May i recommend a Brushhog or a rage craw t-rigged?
