Sounds good to me! We will for sure have to go later this month. I will be in MO fishing for the next week- but would like to go the weekend of the 23rd
I would hit hit different spots with a fast moving bait- rattle trap or crank and run it on the elevation changes- usually from 4ft to about 15-20. If no action there i would fan cast the top of the point and move to the shallow grounds nearby with easy access to that point to see if they have moved up furthur. Any activity in those any of those areas and i slowed down a little with a jig. Biggest fish were coming right on the edge of deep water on a bit of cover. On clinton it was stumps. Anyhow, i would hit all your spot on spot locations.
I have been catching them off of points still near spawning grounds. Water was around 53.
I was a bit north, Clinton lake, however I would fish that lake the same. Find where creek channels swing close to points, humps, ridges, or other structure with easy access to shallow water.
A new rain suit, or other weather realated gear. If you dont need a rod, dont buy one. New tackle wont catch more fish- gear to keep you on the water will. Thats what i would spend $80 on if I was thinking straight. If i just wanted to blow 80 i would also buy a couple new swimbaits.
Have you ever watched a turtle eat? It's pretty cool. They don't suck in their food like a fish, they just bite off whatever they can fit in their mouth and hopefully it'll cripple their prey enough that it can't swim away. If they can't bite all the way through it right away, they'll use their front claws to help tear it and push the rest of the prey away from their mouth.
My girl...
Yes, and actually I am almost terrified to swim in some waters with the big snappers i have hooked out of them. Turtles really are pretty voracious- They are the one reason you will not see me sticking my hands in any underwater holes.
US coast guard sets those ratings-i really would not go changing that too much-or really at all. Not to mention insurace if you have a knoledgeable adjuster if somthing does happen. Anyhow, seems like a lot for a couple more mph- if you make your living fishing, by all means do it. If not seems eaiser to buy a new boat if you have the money or just deal with what you have.
I may do it a bit different but i typically throw it only in deep water and very long leader with a floating soft plastic so that i can cover about 6 feet on down to the bottom. I Cant recall the exact rod i throw it on but it has the feel of a wet noodle- which helps cast with the long leader. i believe 7'6'' is the length. I use a light wire hook so the bait floats better, as well as with the soft rod allows an eaiser hook set.
The only thing that really bothers me about this forum is people go off on these random tangents, and get totally off topic >. I asked about how to clean your hands, and it ends up being about some doctor and his book... By the way, thanks for your input Tom
Wow dude...just wow.
sounds like you would complain if you were out of toliet paper and the guy handed you only single ply roll.
Get real.
If this is true then why is it that on dark overcast day one can still get a sunburn ? What wavelength is penetrating to cause this ?
I believe that there is some confusion between uv and visable light here.
With the chemical and ag. runoff that our lakes and rivers see in any given year- I am quite surpirsed that deet is not the new crawfish.
I like to think of scent as an excuse (one I use from time to time) on a bad day fishing. I do think it matters once the fish hits and is in the mouth, but not any reaction type baits. Cover a worm in deet, sure there could be some effect,
if you spray some bug spray on your body and think you are losing fish because of it- just set the hook faster!
Really just the dumbest thing I think I have ever read about. Without even trying to argue the skewed logic- one could sum it up in one sentence.
Everytime humans think they are more powerful or the driving force on earth- mother nature quickly to smack us back down to our place.
Yes. It swims, falls, and jerks well.
I used it mostly on deep weedlines where a hard swimbait may catch too many weeds, and weedless approach was needed. (some top hook baits would have worked as well, but the sebiles have a nice slow fall)
Also used it frequently fishing uphill through brushpiles that dock owners had placed in and around their docks. Again- the weedless aspect was the key.
WTH! i thought it was cold in a place like Illinois?! I'm in northern PA and our lakes and ponds are still completely froze around here! i mean froze solid right to the banks, its not even starting to thaw away from shore! i just need to get out and at least cast for a while
Im in the WTH department too on this. Im in Rockford IL and there is a 26 acre lake 2 miles from me. I checked it yesterday at 3:30pn and its still iced over.
In Bloomington IL. All lakes have been clear the past couple of weeks!!
