  1. My fishing was very slow last year in regards to size. I am now up to 5 over 6# this year and multiple days with 20 plus keepers. Leaving to go out in about 2hours- i am sure it will be slow pickens this afternoon-
  2. powerworm in pumpkinseed by the 100 count pack.
  3. Lake of the Ozarks. Great fishing and extracurricular activities.
  4. "Seriously it boggles my mind why ANYONE would give a **** about this at all." What he said... as well as the points snook made.
  5. Granted quality hooks all differ and there are some better than others no doubt about it; But, honestly I can say there is no bass that has came close to straighten out a stock hook on any of my cranks. I have caught 40+# flatheads off these hooks and they come out fine. Only big flatheads and big stripers have straighten my hooks and I still catch large ones as long as I am not greedy and watch my drag. I guess freeing from undwater boulders also reverses that bend a bit as well. I will however try and change a few cranks and check for difference on hookups.
  6. Most folks issues I have seen in my life with both swimbaits and spinnerbaits is that they think of them as chuck and wind baits. In reality, they need to be fished at the correct depths for the targeted structure, speeds, etc. Blades on spinner baits in my opinion only matter in the amount of lift they provide the bait, not really the action/disturbance a particular blade causes in the water (I may get crucified for that statement, but that is my experience with these)- Fall may be a different scenario though in regards to open water fishing and winding through bait schools… Anyhow, I have caught fish and from time to time using a drop shot- but line twist seems to be my enemy, and I usually switch to a bit different bait.
  7. We fish for them a lot of times here with traps....
  8. Pumpkin seed 7” powerworm Northstar 3/8 hair jig arky head with any kind of chunk Fat free shad in either fox or Tn shad
  9. I hope all us central folks are on the water today. I will be in a short two hours, all day tomorrow, all day sunday, and monday. It has been at least since monday since i have been able to fish
  10. Ragetail anyone?
  11. They have great jigs. No doubt about it. Nice fish btw.
  12. Where in the lake are you at? If you say Dogwood or somthing close by you most likely saw me all weekend...Sorry!!!!! If you are closer to nianuga/little nianuga I *** you a bit...great part of the lake. PM if you want any detailed info on your lake and I would be happy to give waypoints and specifics. As far as fish conditioning, lots of different lines on that, but yes, they do become conditioned but are catchable.
  13. Was down in LOZ for a couple days. Wednesday through friday they were out on points and moving back- cold weather came in and we caught them shallow moveing back in coves. Spots looked like they were spawing, lm not as far back yet. I would give the bluebird skys a day or two but then they should be back on schedule. We all had 30 plus fish days almost every day. All fish came off crank and heavy worms on points, weightless in the backs of coves as well as wacky. Cold weather did not kill the bite, the post front on monday most likely slowed it down. Fishing should be fine by tonight and moving foward with the weather outlook.
  14. There is nothing more i enjoy than leaving the boat at home and taking my daughter to some local ponds.
  15. In hindsight i should have eaten a few more burgers in life.
  16. I guess his new name will be orange mike then...
  17. I see. I have pretty new tracker 175 and while still in great shape, was wanting to throw some on. I hear good things, but for the price it may or may not be worth it. I also wipe the boat down every time, but still...would like it to look good for years. i will let you know if i pick some up and if it covers what i need it to.
  18. It is some fun stuff. The actual book is a fun read as well. It really does make a lot of sense, and helped changed my views on some things.
  19. Maybe i should have been more specific. Read BBZ. The information in that can be for the tourney or non tourney angler. It is not a specific book by that name. Are you familer with BBZ at all?
  20. Anyone use this product and/or can offer any insight. Also, had you used a cleaner prior to applicaton. Looks good- just hate rubbing somthing on the boat only based off of what MFG states. Any help would be great. Thanks, Mark
  21. slightly used ones... if it were me i would save 200 or so more and get a gps+ color unit. or save a lot more and start getting into the DI/SI stuff. I run a Lowrance x68 at times and it works pretty good. You most likely could get a very slightly used one for a bit over 200 i would think?
  22. I usually set up a milk run as well- with the number system to how good of a spot i believe that it will be. just have to hope you can hit those spots on tourney day without someone else being there...and if it is good structure for the weather/year- then you usually have to really find out your number system because someone else will do the same. On prefish days- i usually throw a jig without hook or a crank without hooks looking for additional spot on spot locations. stump on a point turning to gravel...etc. Really good read is BBZ- for the tourney or non tourney angler... it goes into great detail on these ideas.
  23. -Folks who mix good whisky with soda.... -“Locals” in some locales -Bug windshield washing fluid that does not wash off bugs. -STD's (dont have any, but I would have to rate that as a personal pet peev!)
