  1. MSRP of course. There are some local shops out there that advertise it available from 4-500 range. Kind of doubt it as I don't know that I have even seen a 20yr much below that. Unfortunately I am not in the market to buy either at msrp or not...
  2. When was the last time you drake a $300 25 yr bourbon lol? Scotch sure, that is an old scotch- 25 yr bourbon different story altogether...I can't imagine.
  3. Just finished off the Michters straight rye and it was great. I can't imagine how good a 25yr would be.
  4. For some reason I am missing a couple forums now- the "other species", "flea market" "tourney"...any idea why? thanks.
  5. Is that the water temp by the outlet or generalized. if it were me I would head away from the warmest water and pattern them closer to what they would be doing if you were not on a power plant lake. Powerplant hotwater discharges tend to have the smaller fish and on top of that get beat up more often so I try to fish away from them for the most part. But, based on Virginias latitude...I would have to agree... I would throw a jerkbait and jig at bluff walls...lol.
  6. only have bought "in pursuit of giant bass" from amazon new for 15 bucks or so. Got bored of typical magazines and thought I would give it a read. I like it. I have had several big purchases in the "check out now" etc. only to cancel the purchase and realize I really probably do have way too much already. For some reason I am still convinced I still need another 3-4 rods in the boat when I already don't use half that are in there.
  7. it is an odd one this year- two men, one in his 30's and one in his 40's has died here in town from it- hit front page of the paper today- no underlying conditions. And here I get my shot every year just so I don't have to miss any work!
  8. That is great.... Mr excuses here, and d**n fine to meet ya!
  9. that's not a bad deal either. My boat is only 35 min from garage to ramp...so I am fairly lucky for that.
  10. Descriptive words to describe my teaching style: Impatient pessimistic micro-manager foul-mouthed my 6 year old throws spinnerbaits though- only because I found out its the only thing she has a hard time tangling.
  11. Sam & Becky are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and Sam says to Becky "Becky, I was wondering... Have you ever cheated on me?" Becky replies, "Oh Sam, why would you ask such a question now? You don't want to ask that question..." "Yes, Becky, I really want to know. Please..." "Well, all right. Yes, 3 times..." "Three, hmmm, well when were they?" as his face turned red, but realizing he had pressured her... "Well, Sam, remember when you were 35 years old and you really wanted to start the business on your own and no bank would give you a loan? Remember, then one day the bank president himself came over the house and signed the loan papers, no questions asked?" "Oh, Becky, you did that for me! I respect you even more than ever, to do such a thing for me.... So when was number 2?" "Well, Sam, remember when you had that last heart attack and you were needing that very tricky operation, and no surgeon would touch you? Then remember how Dr. DeBakey came all the way up here to do the surgery himself and then you were in good shape again?" "I can't believe it!! Becky, you should do such a thing for me, to save my life... I couldn't have a more wonderful wife... To do such a thing, you must really love me darling... I couldn't be more moved... So, all right then, when was number 3?" "Well, Sam, remember a few years ago, when you really wanted to be president of the fishing club .... And you were 17 votes short....
  12. well...I like to be there at least 6-7 times a month.
  13. Honestly- I guess I have seen a car- but the coolest thing I get to see is when stripers are feeding in deep water over some sort of break, and its just chaos at that depth and you know your are about to fish it. Gets me all excited just thinking about it.
  14. The last year or so I have found that the bigger baits get less play with the huge over-abundance of young of the year shad here in IL waters, been a bit of a pain actually. I have also got bit better recently with the smaller huds simply because that even the bigger shad have only been getting to the size of the 6" max, and they just seem keyed on smaller prey. Been having better luck with relatively more compact bluegill swimbaits for size actually. Biggest bass I have caught in recent years was on a 10inch bait fishing for musky, and biggest musky I have caught in recent was on a 5 inch jerk bait fishing for walleye...so what the hell do I really know...
  15. true.... I guess we have all been there and done that. I know I have.
  16. I guess I think the opposite. When I think of Ike I think of emotional teenager, kvd a salesman, etc. I don't necessarily think of them as pros because of type A personalities or attention seeking behavior. When I think of pro I actually think about the people who "act like they have been there before" Aaron Martens, Brent Ehler, etc. Who can also catch some fish when it matters. One thing they all do have is an intense drive no matter what I think of them!
  17. time and money helps.
  18. Spincast 5' rod for my daughter. Not that she could not pick up a spinning rod and learn- but the less tangles I have to fix the more fun we will have.
  19. Have used megastrike and not noticed a difference at all. Yet I am paranoid if I don't use powerbait brand soft plastics...so it would seem that would negate my impartial feelings towards scent/taste being important.
  20. Big fan of # 2&3 as well. 9# IL bass would not be bad either.
  21. For me the way it sometimes gets smacked instead of fully inhaled would prevent me from ever using it with anything but the treble. I have hooked too many fish on the outside, or it took a couple swipes for them to get hooked on the inside.
  22. I guess its not "gimmicky" per se and I do understand that some folks really enjoy their brands and features, I guess I could liken it to cars or any other collectible. But some reels are a bit outrageous on price point. I own many different brands and doesn't matter which one there is a line where price exceeds functionality.
  23. well...I will be down at the lake of the Ozarks then, may have to run down there for that.
  24. A great question. Fluro is not affected by UV light and does not absorb water so it is durable and should be changed due to normal wear and tear...however long that is I have no idea but I get paranoid and change once a season. I guess that is my way of "stimulating the economy". oddly enough I leave copoly on longer.
  25. this method will solve your problems/worries. I think this is actually the best thing I have got from this website. www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12981-how-do-i-remove-a-hook-a-bass-has-swallowed/page-2 another article posted by someone else here...cant recall who but the only thing I have ever read with any evidence so I saved. http://www.nesportsman.com/articles/article11.shtml
