  1. I keep it simple. Dd22 all day er day and another rod with a lipless crank if under 4 feet or so. If I am not digging bottom then I dont fish a crank but I treat it almost like a jig in shallower water and you can end up fishing them fairly slow digging and releasing. Find a brand a love it is the beat advice I could give.
  2. Actively breeding populations of animals in populated areas are found pretty easy...especially what would be in the top two in size in north America. Big animals need lots of food and space. They dont exist....and that is about as serious a conversation I can have on this...lol
  3. a fish and ski was trying to be pulled out by a small/midsize truck and was only screeching its back tires as it was a pretty steep ramp. Guy had his whole family there and had them all get on the front hood for more weight and traction and still, just back tires screeching. We went over to help and noticed that it was clearly just a rear wheel drive vehicle and mentioned this to him. He busted up laughing and said it was just one of those days. I am sure we all have had one, and we all got on his back bumper and pushed and told him to just not gun it and run us over. He was embarrassed and should not have been- boat ramps can be hectic with children with you. I have seen much better non family friendly events that I enjoyed much more- usually in specific "coves" of various lakes throughout the Midwest.
  4. I work...a lot. Even more so this year so far. Seems like everything has taken a backburner to that...
  5. was 78 at the dewitt bridge and was around 66 at IP point (Saturday the 26th) Crappie are in full spawn and the shad appeared to me to be spawning as well. Some decent fish coming out of there lately although not from me.
  6. don't fish there if its windy!! in all seriousness I have not been back in years-
  7. SMH.... I typed up a well thought out response to these very simplistic ideas/ideals you have, and then I realized its just not worth it. If you cannot understand the simple idea of how knowing a second or third language is helpful in life as well as beneficial to your own brain then there is nothing more I can say here.
  8. A-Rig I like big baits, but the combo of wires and that I can only use two hooks really makes me put it down quickly.
  9. One big regret I have is I am only able to speak one language. took years of Spanish as well as used rosetta stone however fell out of use by not speaking with others in Spanish as much as I use to. May be time to start refreshing
  10. fat ika. I tried to like the dockapede but it is not for me- may be worth taking a look at though.
  11. I prefer it with a sluggo however in order to help me get rid of some of the excess smaller flukes I have I have been rigging it upside-down actually and find that it moves a bit better for me and is quicker to rig. I add a small rubberband to help keep the bait on there since I try to keep glue off the boat as much as possible...
  12. I agree above- I have an elite 7hdi/chartplotter at the bow and an HDS 5 and the wheel. The 5 is plenty for me as I am sitting right in front of it and the 7 is amazing standing at the trolling motor. I love the split screen DSI/2d as well as ability to use the chart in the 3 screens at bow. I think downscan at the bow is great as I spend most my time there anyhow. Also, I get 0 interference from my TM on the unit and my cord is actually wrapped around the cable. I know others have to take additional means to remove it. Only interference I sometimes get is if I forget to stop the sonar at the wheel before jumping up the fish up front.
  13. There are only two lipless crankbait colors that exist in the world. Rayburn red and chrome.
  14. they do work up north just fine. Powerbait 10 and 12 inch or zoom ole monster.
  15. I think they work fine when used and thought of as an open hook jig and paddle tail trailer, and worked much the same on bottom. I used to use them, but now when I want something like that I use swimbait jigheads and berkely flat back shad so I can have a variety of colors. Not trying to give you another option, however I don't think of it as a "swimming bait" and only used it in the bottom of the water column. They do have thick hooks and are dense so just throw on a MH or H rod and you are fine.
  16. in that case...112oz
  17. Been seeing a lot of the same around here. Marking tons of bait and pans on major drops but not much going on. Clinton crappie are up super shallow but water was 65 midlake. Still no bass shallow there today although I am sure some found them, lots of boats there when I brought the fam out for a couple hours. Couple of dinks is all today on 1/2 jigs deep. Daughter did have a couple 11" crappie which was a tad smaller than my big bass for today.
  18. I'll see your over generalizations and raise you highest paid/popular sport. Maybe I am biased for playing for 25 years...but come onnow...use your words. I also wrestled for 20 years so I guess I also just wanted to roll around the mat with guys that whole time.Smh. tightlines either way... seems this horse is beaten.
  19. Reuse the bottle and have it filled at a marina or dealership from their bulk supply. The price you ate getting though as is...is pretty good in all honesty.
  20. fished a small lake near me (lake Bloomington) yesterday for a couple hours on a buddys boat- found some wipers in pockets/mouths of coves in about 10fow. Most everything I have seen the last couple weeks still suspended over deep drops even with water in the 58degree range. All caught on DD22. water was like chocolate milk though and it was a bit tough but no bass, sm or lm have moved in shallow around here it seems like.
  21. Bass (lmb) are by far some of the smallest and lackluster fighting fish we have in our waters around here. Nonetheless I still fish for them most often but only exclusively in tournament s. Any other time I may fish for other species as well; stripers, musky, crappie, walleye, flathead, etc. All depends on the lake. Knowing how bass interact with the other species and available prey on a given body of water helps locate where bass will and wont be.
  22. 7 hdi combo on a motorguide....it works as advertised.
