  1. Berkley flatback shad on a 3/4oz conquistador jig head rigged sideways. perfect size to not be intimidated, catch large fish and large numbers, and to throw where you need to due to it being a cheap setup. Lunker city shaker for a bit larger of a bait. I own a lot of expensive swimbaits but I use this every time I fish. I would not spend too much on softbaits but matt lures boot tail is good as well. hard baits...obviously just depends on how much you want to spend.
  2. Rage tail. No confidence if I put them on so never use them and always go back to powerbait lines.
  3. Im not sure there is a difference...you average humidity is 89% ours 86%...for the coolest part of the day and same difference but lower for both at hottest. We just don't complain about it because it will be below 0 in 6months lol
  4. for sure. My profession pretty much requires that I attend a lot of non profit/fundraising eventsfor various diseases...and sometimes we attend these same events without my profession in mind. Never seems to fail that while some donors donate 5k or 10k, etc. -at the very end when it gets down to $20 and almost everyone in a ballroom donates it far exceeds the amount raised by the larger donations...or at least comes close to.
  5. No problem- I was going to make an order to TW of things that I most likely don't really need anyhow since my boat is loaded to the brim. My family is healthy, my friends as well aside for a one friend in chemo and we hope she will be okay. Seems like someone doing something for others, and those folks that need the actual funds deserve it a bit more than the tackle companies. Just think if everyone who visited this thread(1200 or so- although those are not independent users and includes return users) donated $1. You would be doing rather well!! hint/cough
  6. Just put $100 to you. Good luck out there.
  7. Summer is best for me. Not spread out on shorelines any longer and easier to find on deep breaks or points and usually stacked up. Fishing in 90 plus degree weather really does not bother me at all.
  8. I am not much of a gear junky and the gear I buy has all the terminal tackle quality I want/need and that is one reason I buy them. The exception would be Hopkins jigging spoons as I do replace the hooks. I usually replaced with owner stx56's since I primarily use these for striped bass/wipers. I decided to try the gammy magic eye 2x and when replacing hooks on 10 spoons it was incredibly easy. They really do just slip on the split ring. I thought it would just be gimmicky but I am a fan- and if I used crank baits that I did not like hooks on and had to constantly replace hooks , I would buy these every time. To me, I don't need split ring pliers especially as I have lost a pair or two since they never got used much. Just thought I would throw this out there- not many new good designs out there but so far this one is working out for me.
  9. it most likely is a twitch and not a spasm. hyperexcitable bicep if you will from over use and dehydration. Easy way to fix it, drink water and stretch using your triceps muscle. Do some triceps exercises and see if that removes it quickly.
  10. no offence taken at all- 12'' spots are legal to harvest in MO unless your lake has specific restrictions. I do agree though- bow fishers that toss them to rot is nasty as it just stinks up the entire place. In your area, and mine as well really in IL, Asian carp obviously a huge problem but a handful of guys throwing them up on bank will not solve it at all (obviously).
  11. I guess I would never want to limit myself- but t-rig if I had to. I can always add a skirt to it
  12. Typically I will follow the old channel near the old pits as well as by the dam and then channel swing points in the colder end depending on wind direction. I will idle over the break lines from around 25- 15 and if I see them suspended off of it I wont even fish- if I see them more active and actually a bit into the shallower water with shad nearby, then I start fishing.
  13. I eat 12 inch bass all the time plenty of good tasting meet on those spotted bass.also, bow hunting do carp is legal and does help a bit. Just cant be within the stated limits to specific areas where people or infrastructure can be found.
  14. I listen to music on boat sometimes....loud as well at times. Usually not at dawn but at dusk I will have it on. No real reason for me to hear the gentle call of the pwc, the soothing slap of boat hull on waves, the soft cry of tubers, or the natural rumble of above water exhaust of large inboards.
  15. I recently joined a new cult and I hate to say it is what I have been looking for now that I am done with competitive sports and only play recreationally now... ...cross fit... I still am not interested in their vernacular or extreme devotion to anything cross fit however working hard is oddly fun for me. good luck to ya.
  16. Camped all weekend at Clinton Lake so I was able to be on the water before first light Saturday and Sunday. Put in at campground ramp and ran to cold water end and as I am passing the marina I see there is a tourney about to go off once more light available so I fished three points right off the bat before they were beat up and was able to put a limit in the boat in around 20 minutes. Most likely not a winning limit at around 14 pounds- but a limit nonetheless. I decided at that point to fish for stripers offshore and for the next two hours had the most exciting fishing I have had in years. over 50 fish with a good number of them between 5-10 pounds. Caught another 5-10 15# class channel cats and about a 30# buffalo. I put back in by for breakfast by 9:00. Sunday, just fished for stripers and caught a few less, however all in the same size class and done by 9 again. Storms kept me off in the evenings. All bass on 10 inch powerworms and all stripers and other species on 6in swimbaits and 3/4 oz jigging spoons.
  17. Water and nitrogen. Miracle grow would be easy if small garden.
  18. My pb bass and musky are actually on polaroid's... anyone know of a good way to get those scanned in...other than just scanning it in?
  19. I can honestly say I don't really lose treble hooks from being dull I lose the lures first. I leave the hooks buried in whatever cover or structure I was snagged on and could not knock free with a lure retriever...
  20. Let me know how it goes...I did not end up making it there due to weather Saturday evening when I had planned on going.
  21. perfectly stated...ability to repay. I.e. performing loan.
  22. In waters over 50000 acres there are not a single secrete spot. It just means no-one is fishing it when you are. Ponds and streams, same thing unless private. Its a small small world. Have to fish efficiently/effectively. Imo.
  23. Several ideas stated and they are all close. Credit cards best utilized at different tiers; cards under 30% of limit best, under 50 good, under 70 meh, over 90%derogatory and over your limit obviously worse. Credit reported to the bureaus the highest limit from previous month so if paying off once a month and running over 90% of limit bad. If you have the credit history like some have here no problem, but if you have no history or limited then it will be weighted more and can hurt you quicker. Variety of credit best such as revolving credit, installment, etc. There are over 52 algorithms to determine scores and each one differes based on type of credit applied for and if it is a hard pull or soft pull etc. This is just a basic statement from typing from my phone but it is a complicated issue but rhe sooner you lear n the better or it will cost you later. For instance, it is true to not close out cards without fees however use them once a month for 10 bucks and pay it off. A hibernated tradeline will not do much as said tradeline will not pay the bureau's to report unless there is activity. #not preaching
