  1. I have fished docks a long time and can admit I have hit a boat and consider myself pretty good...are you sure you have never fished one that could cause you to do that? Are you sure you never have? Cant say the same about myself. Obviously though...this is for a boat along the side regarding original post topic
  2. I think everyone knows you are kidding...he does not fish.
  3. I drink a few while fishing every time I fish unless a tourney?? Some days I make it a rule I cant open a beer until I get a keeper in the boat- other days I wont leave the marina without first cracking a beer on the way out. Really 2 40's is not all that much if you were on an all day fishing trip..or really less for that matter- a six pack is not much beer...and everyone knows you don't finish a 40- last couple ounces get dumped for sure. Seems like he should be able to be under .08 or whatever your state has as laws potentially. obviously throwing it overboard is just dumb. Also obviously...if you are going to drink a beer on the road...who in gods name would buy a 40 to do it? I don't agree with a person drinking and driving, but it happens a lot everywhere in the world unfortunately...just not usually with a 40oz.
  4. Bloomington here as well.
  5. I agree...I have never not just fileted them. Electric knife and it is all over in about 15 seconds anyhow.
  6. yeah...that is for sure not put up so people cannot fish the dock. Looks like something that other folks could be tied up next to for longer periods of time or a place when the waters fluctuating and they are out of town. or just their shark cage....probably a shark cage.
  7. I do catch a few decent smallmouth out of there each year. One is in my avatar pic right now. Never find the giants, but close to 20'' anyway.
  8. I love fishing that lake...i guess it would be my home lake. I never really have an issue catching decent fish there but it seems like many do. I also only fish a milk run there as well. We need to fish.
  9. Most important for me during this time and upcoming time- channel edge to flat. and thermocline
  10. Well now you're just flirting with me- life is too short to not be able to take the context out of conversation. Read Kmac's affirmation above of what I was getting at as well, apply to yourself, and realize how your age can be misconstrued as to how you behave. I'm all for a good ole fashion argument/debate on something tangible however, internet snippiness is no fun for you, me or anyone. So that being said- sorry man...thought you were 14 (honest mistake) and everyone is tough and faceless on the internet. Catch some biguns this weekend if you get out, unfortunately I will not be able to.
  11. I always say you are only as old as you act...so you are still young so no worries!
  12. gammy skip gap 5/0 when using light sinker and thus a lighter rod to throw it on. It is a lighter gauge hook that works well on a lighter rod in open water. owner extra wide gap 5/0 offset for any other situation.
  13. May want to watch with all the snippiness WV...old man strength is real and you may find out from one of them!!! lol I always figured they stopped caring once they gained this. That, or to put it bluntly- if people only use 10% of their brain- young folks are typically using 5% of that trying to impress other people! The older you get, the less you try to impress, etc. etc. I am only 30, so I like to think I only use maybe 2% trying to impress. and as I have heard quoted before... " I am older than you and meaner than you will ever be"
  14. yup, same here, and I would bet most folks as well.
  15. Obviously spelling and grammar are different- but when "talking" or "saying", anyone else but me say the two words exactly the same? Possibly just my plain old Midwestern dialect but figured it has to be somewhat universal, or the fact possibly I just don't enunciate clearly. i.e. someone may state..."that Nice_Bass is the best fisherman I know, better than all the fishermen I have ever met combined" I pronounce them both exactly the same...
  16. Went out on the evening of the 3rd and had a pretty good day going while my wife drank wine.... no big fish but would have at least brought 5 to the scale. After about 1.5hrs bass fishing she wanted to fish so we chased stripers for a bit and could not get any. She gets bored easy so we found some schools of white bass and caught maybe 50 or more- no idea really how many but enough to keep her with a rod in her hand casting. Two of the nicer bass of the day. All bass caught on swim baits and a 10'' rage tail thumper. I really don't like the rage line of baits- but had some in the boat that seemed to fit the bill for the limited visibility that the water had with all the runoff.
  17. http://www.gameandfishmag.com/2010/10/04/fishing_stripers-hybrids-fishing_il_aa041604a/ If your buddy does not know where to fish let the magazines tell him lol apperently you really just need to get your non resident license....but may as well go to Arkansas for real fish as 15#s is actually about as big as they really seem to get here.
  18. ILL is 22#s I believe and i have seen a couple pictures rhe lasr couple years of 20# fish. 10 to 15# hybrids pretty regular at clinton as well as a little 700 acre lake about 5 minutes from my house called lake bloomington. Like you though, just tough to weed out the whites first. I will send you a couple likes for them on the Mississippi. Illinois river I believe has them as well however not a big fan of that river. Don't really get to.much of a chance to fish Mississippi any longer
  19. Mississippi 14, Clinton, rend, Baldwin, sangchris and a handful more. Whats great- many don't fish for them or don't do a great job of it. Mostly folks just trolling with incorrect setups, etc. mostly just hybrids out there but there are still some pure breeds in Clinton and a few others as well and hybrids are topping out around the 15-20# range. Personally, I mostly catch hybrids that only get to around 10-15#'s but have lost bigger. Hard to fish for bass when you can catch a fish that weighs 10#s that would fight harder than a 40# lmb!!!!!
  20. I am late, but I like rapala jigging rap. Combo spoon and lipless crank in the bigger sizes
  21. Been on both sides here. All my best.
  22. Fishing pressure is real. Part of it is on the water, and part of it is in your head. the part on the water everyone deals with differently, the part in your head everyone deals with differently. figure out one of the two and you can have a good day- figure out both and you can have a great day.
  23. Nerdy/twisted/funny hip hop jedi mind tricks "Heavenly Divine" Raider...you may even like this a bit along with "heavy metal kings" if not...sorry!! sage francis--check out-"xaul zan's heart" atmosphere...anything by him country- about the only thing I listen to is drinking songs or Zach brown band and then I listen to all kinds of rock...but not death metal. Love old school metal though; iron maiden, etc.
