  1. It may be the case an ika is not the right tool for the job in this case.
  2. Hated fluro until I found what works for me. Sniper in #16. it only goes on a couple rods and the rest have mono/hybrid/braid in various tests. in all honesty- I have not broken a fish off in a long time on any type of line except larger harder pulling species on the same #tests. Sure I have to break off rocks/snags/etc, but not breaking with fish on the line. I do retie fairly often- but not real religious on swapping my line out. Maybe twice a year tops on non braided lines. Never had issues with managing line no matter what brand either except on a spinning reels- that was a painful reminder to keep it simple.
  3. i have no brakes set on mine as well. Works great. Started with one each set and did not really need.
  4. may want to check the alarm module if there is one. Finally, do you have a manual that goes with it to figure out what series of sounds you are hearing come out? may need to test different sensors, etc. until you find the one that actually is sounding from alarm circuit. That motor may also have a sensor at the bottom of the oil reservoir that went bad that you could test and that really does sound like it is your problem. If your oil pump is sending for you, 1/4 tank should be more than enough for it to read. Should have a little white and blue wire if taken out that you could test with.
  5. I am with you on the Trion. Still have a few I use in the main lineup of reels. anyhow, a bit over that price would be the lews BB2z at 169 that I have been buying and they are wonderful. Also, Ardent makes one that may be closer to your price range but I know nothing of it.
  6. I use it or the palomar as well. I prefer palomar over it for some applications still. Great knot
  7. how old is the motor if the boat is 1 year old...or is it one year old to you?
  8. I would think a hot wire cutter or extremely fine tooth serrated blade would work best? (I am not a rod builder).
  9. may be true no doubt. Around here there are so many geese ducks, etc. that if the fish stopped eating when frogs dropped in then the lakes would be full of belly up fish. heck, I still catch fish on laydowns after sunning turtles plop in when a boat gets near. (and some days I don't hardly catch fish anywhere on a lake lol)
  10. I don't bank fish much, but to me "stealth" is over exaggerated to a point in regards to bait splash. when you walk along do the frogs hightail it into the water...do you think the bass run from the frogs splash? if they are that shallow, I would throw a frog/frog type bait on shore and drag it off and down the bank parallel, etc.
  11. Replace the hardware or tighten... or mount altogether if you have to. While you are at it, remove prop and washer and see if there is any line etc. in there and your problem may be solved.
  12. I have been passed by pontoons with a 300 on the back. although, wake was small. My first boat was a really narrow flat bottom, and by my self would be no issue, but with three people or if standing, very unstable.
  13. Agree- think it was when I would burn it back after fishing the piece of structure I was targeting. Higher speed and it rolls, slower and it wobbles. Time and place for me that I need to remember on the water.
  14. I guess how long are you really expecting to throw it? Reel, weight, line, wind aero of lure all make more of a difference than 6 inches of rod...
  15. Well...unfortunately all i threw it on. Had more to do with burning it back after i fished the area of structure i had wanted to. Going to use again in a couple weeks on flats so i am less prone to do that like i do in middle of summer fishing offshore
  16. I really wanted to love the scrounger, but line twist came between our affair. Anyhow, no matter how straight I rigged the thing, line twist, line twist, line twist. maybe I will figure it out this year.
  17. I use to try to fish musky flies on the back of a jig as a modified Carolina rig. I lost a lot of expensive musky flies.
  18. I could not do the ned rig...killed me with an exposed hook and I could not throw it where the fish were going to actually be. Setteled on a gammy flick shake G-finesse with nose hooked zman hula stick and it worked well for me with cut pieces of rubber band on each side of bait on hook so it stays put. I know its not the ned...but good god that thing was just not for me (TRD +jighead). maybe on a mayfly hatch I guess, but I had no confidence on it. I Really have a lot of respect for the guys that can throw it.
  19. your welds will be fine- if not they will be warrantied. There are issues with all boats, and for an entry level price range you may not have the best of everything, but it will be a solid dependable boat. I beat mine up in the weather/water every time I use it. 5 years later and taking good care of it= still runs and looks like new. I have a 175
  20. BPS cranking stick has a 6' as well as the bionic blade. I own the 6' bionic blade 6' medium and use it with jigging spoons. M action but has pistol grip. they also come in longer handle but mh action. Of course, Daiwa Steez SVF Graphite is also available in 6' with M action as well.
  21. Yes. with the series of warm rain and sunshine/heat the next couple of days the fish and farmers are happy. I have not seen fish on beds yet however, but for the mild spring we had coupled with the mild winter things may be a week or 2 early.
  22. My thoughts- Mayweather was the clear winner and fought a better fight. It was a well executed fight and he won. Was it the fight of the century, no, but a good fight nonetheless. Still not sure why folks think Pacquiao won that fight.... Being aggressive does not win fights, in fact, a lot of the time it does quite the opposite.
  23. I use my boat on multiple lakes that have HP restriction on them. I put a clamp on my TM so that it will not turn with the force of the TM on and I set it on high constant. I can then sit in my seat and use my big motor as a rudder and steer around the lake. Works pretty good and better than standing at the foot pedal the whole time some days.
  24. what he said. Difference should be depending on weight and if it is a single tophook type bait or multiple trebles...
  25. Shad were spawning on Clinton this weekend. Fishing real slow though.
