  1. Excellent advice. Hootie
  2. Retired: G Loomis NRX, GLX Shimano Core, Aldebaren, Metanium, JDM. Hootie
  3. Is that you in that photo Goose? Love that hat!! Hootie
  4. I was using a garlic scent, my son was using nothing. I was tearing em' up, he was catching nothing. I knew it was because he didn't have any scents. Hootie
  5. The Bait Monkey says that he had nothing to do with this. Hootie
  6. I don't have a problem here. They are all in a bin at home. Before I go fishing, I just determine what plastics I am "REALLY" going to use that day. That way the load is kept to a minimum. I see no point in dragging everything I own to the lake, only to find myself fishing from the one bag I started with. I know, "what happens if you are unable to catch them on what you brought"? I'll let you know, when and if that happens. Hootie
  7. For the price you got, you got a great deal. I had a 803 JWR. I sold mine, but mostly because I was upgrading to the GLX series. Fish it, enjoy it. After all, it is a Loomis. Hootie
  8. Works for me. You use the blood and slime, and I'll use the Tru-oil. Hootie
  9. Okay, here goes. It keeps the cork from drying out, and crumbling. The cork stays smooth and non pitted. Also, it doesn't keep it from getting dirty. It just takes longer for it to get dirty. When it does, it is much easier to clean. Therefore, your nice cork grips will have a much longer life. My opinion, it's well worth it. Hootie
  10. If you are familiar with the U40, it has the same feel. Grippy, not sticky. I was really pleased with it, and will use it from here on. Much easier to find. Hootie
  11. If I lose what I know was a really big one, and don't see it, I console myself by telling myself that it was probably a catfish. Helps a little but not much. Hootie
  12. Now, that's quite a crew! Hootie
  13. Havoc 4" tube, 12# Seaguar Abrazx line, {baitcasting} G Loomis IMX 784c, Shimano Chronarch 200e6. Cover Hootie
  14. The IMX is as it should be. The Crucial is, in my opinion a little over stiff for a medium heavy. Just used the comparison to show, different ratings mean different things to different manufacturers. Hootie
  15. I have a heavy g loomis imx. I also have a medium heavy Shimano crucial. They both feel exactly the same. Hootie
  16. Probably an extra fast MH. A fast would have the rating you're suggesting. Hootie
  17. I used the 40 cork sealer but ran out. Like you, I didn't want to pay shipping, or wait a week. I did a little research and found something called tru-oil. It's commonly used on gun stocks, but works as well on cork.I tried it. It's great and I am unable to tell any difference. By the way, it's sold at gun shops. If you have a Dicks Sporting Goods near you, they also have it. Google it and see for yourself. Hope this helps. Hootie
  18. That's the man.
  19. In my old magazines, 50's and 60's, almost every fishing article has the fishermen smoking a pipe. My theory is that they are all imitating Jason Lucas, who nearly always had a pipe in his mouth. Hootie
  20. I'm with you on "Field and Stream". I have one 10 minutes from my house. It's now my go to store. Good prices, and really decent fishing dept Hootie.
  21. Just visited our new Cabelas store, near Cincinnati. Gotta say I was disappointed. I guess maybe I was expecting to much, based on what I had heard about them. I still prefer BPS. Hootie
  22. Two winners. Hootie
