  1. I have been bass fishing for many years, and have always reserved my jig fishing for cold weather, cold water. Do any of you folks fish jigs this time of year? I'm talking jig and plastic trailer. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions. I fish a local flood control lake, approx. 150 acres. It has lots of laydowns some rocks, way more trees than rocks, and no weeds. It is always stained to murky, can not at anytime see a white spinnerbait more than a foot down. It is a really good bass lake, as I have caught numerous bass in the 2# to 3# range. My biggest last year was a 6#. A typical day for me, even in this hot August weather is 8-12 bass, Naturally some are dinks. not bad for this old guy. Also, I am speaking of largemouth bass. Thanks for any suggestions, Hootie
  2. I own 2 Mojo's, both 6.6 MHF jig and worm rods. I think they are just fine. I also have Premiers, Falcons, and BPS $35.00 graphite series rods. They all feel okay to me. I guess I just have numb hands and fingers. When I am catching and releasing a 6# bass, I simply don't care where the rod came from. BUY IT!!! Hootie
  3. Bet this is the last question he will post. Sad.
  4. I think we ought to quit criticizing the other guys choice of tackle. If he asks your opinion, give it. If he is just telling you what he likes, get over it.2
  5. Exactly !!! I have 2 stx reels, no problems. Been fishing ABU reels for 41 years. I know I am predjudiced, but it is because of my past experience. I have also used Shimano reels and they are great.
  6. Just wondering, how many bass tackle addicts are out there. I am one for sure!! Hootie
  7. An old chain stringer with all the snaps open.
  8. That's what I did. I ordered a falcon rod, and paid with Paypal.
  9. Does anyone have any experience dealing with Bass Tackle Outlet? Good or bad?
  10. $600.- $800., yes, definitely out of my price range. My most expensive rig is about $300. I guess then, I would define high end as, if I can't afford it, then to me it would be high end. High end, then would be relative.
  11. I notice a lot of you folks use some high end tackle. I was just wondering, are any of you professional bass fisherman, big money tournaments etc.? Tackle wise, I guess I'm sort of low end to middle of the road. Just curious. Hootie
  12. I think the new look is going to take some getting used to.
  13. peanut butter or jelly? Just kidding. Give it some time. I also have been out 2 times and I am skunked. Happens every year. I am am more anxious than the fish are to get started. The water will warm and the fishing will pick up. Count on it, and don't get discouraged. Around 60 degrees things will really start to go. So just hang in there and keep casting, and enjoy being out there, and rejoice that winter is finally over. HOORAY!!!

  15. They are going to have a baitcaster this week on one of their 1 day specials, limit 4 per customer. Prolite Special 10 bearing, alum. frame, doesn't sound bad. $ 49.99, Sat. March 12 only. Bob
  16. I usually fish as soon as I can, but seldom catch anything on the first couple of trips. But I still have to go.
  17. XL= limp XT = tough
  18. Yes, the last time I bought a new rod. I was asked what kind I needed. I said a 7 ft. brown one. ha ha just kidding guys, but seriously, if I find a rod I like, I don't care if it's polka dotted. I don't think I ever had a bass refuse to strike because he didn't like the color of my rod, or shirt, or hat, or whatever.
  19. Today, you are older than you have ever been, and you will never be this young again. Does that cheer you up, or depress you?
  20. delta dawn
