  2. I don't have a link, but they are all on youtube. Just type in bassmaster classic. I especially liked the very first classic, I believe it in 1972. It was won by Bobby Murray, Lake Mead Nevada. It is narrated by the old Green Acres character, Eb Dawson. Enjoy..... Hootie
  3. I've lately been watching the old Bassmaster Classics. Like looking at the ancient, (for now) tackle they were using. Hootie

  6. I've noticed that this year some of the pros have jumped ship and are pushing different rods and reels. Remember with the pros, the best rods are made by the company that writes the biggest check. Hootie
  7. LOL!!! I've been thinking about trying an elephant. Been looking at lots of pictures from different angles. Looks like it could be very complicated, but I wont know if I don't try....lol. Hootie

  12. You might wonder why I did this. Having worked at this BPS for a few years, black Friday was never like this. One hour, or hour and a half, then it was pretty much over. I don't do black Friday shopping ever. I have never liked crowds. Now that even excludes BPS. The first and ONLY sporting event I ever attended, was the first Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran fight, June 20, 1980. NEVER ANOTHER ONE! Took me 2 hours to exit the parking lot after the fight. Hate crowds! Hootie
  13. I hear that. Never again. I wasn't even picking up anything on sale. Could have waited. Yesterday , it seemed everyone was buying jeans and flannel shirts . Hootie
  14. With all that leftover thanksgiving dinner? Oh I'm sure I'll find something to do later this afternoon.....lol. Hootie
  15. Just got back from Cincinnati Bass Pro Shops. Since they opened at 6:00 am, I assumed the store would be cleared out by 8:00 am....WRONG!...That place was crazy. Checkout lines were stretched all the way back to the escalator. All I wanted was a spool of line, some bobber stops, and a pack of jig trailers. Not standing in line for that. Then I happened to notice the line in the fishing department had about 5 people in it. Got my stuff and got the heck out of there. I think everyone in Cincinnati is at BPS today. Hootie
  16. Remember to set your scales back 10 pounds tonight before you go to bed. Hootie
  17. The day of too much. Too much turkey, too much stuffing, too much mashed potatoes, and way too many buttered rolls. Too much cherry pie and ice cream. I absolutely love this day. Hootie
  18. Thank you for the kind words Redlinerobert. I must have asked him a dozen times if he was bass fishing or fishing for squirrels. A tree pounder. Hootie
  19. Hi guys. Been quite a while since I've posted or even been on. I have had an interesting summer. Been teaching my brother in law bass fishing. Had no idea what I was getting myself into. First, we're both retirees. He, in his late sixties and me, well, let's just say well past that. First day he shows up with 2 Zebco 202's and spaghetti rods. I expected that so I had 2 baitcasters ready for him. Surprisingly he mastered the anti backlash thing fairly quickly . Keeping the lure in the water, that's another story . Half the crankbaits and spinnerbaits that I gave him wound up unreachable in the trees. By the end of October the trees are already decorated for Christmas . He managed to fall out of the boat once , with cell phone in his pocket. Fortunately that was in August, so no danger of freezing. Also close enough to shore that he was able to stand up and climb back into the boat. I threatened once to beach the boat and run up to the nearest Wal-Mart and get him a coloring book and a box of crayons. Seriously all in all we had a lot of fun. Looking forward to next year, I think....? Hootie
  20. NEVER! name your dog "Fetch", and then try to teach him to fetch. It simply will not work! Hootie

  22. I am currently retired for a living,...."and loving it". I spent 45 yrs. welding, and 32 yrs. at the company that I retired from, building fire trucks. "LOTS AND LOTS OF FIRE TRUCKS". So if you ever have a fire, and are in need of the services of your local fire dept,...."you're welcome". We built trucks for Sutphen, Hendrickson, Ferrara, American Le France, E-1, among others.
