  1. Since it's an IMX and Loomis has not revamped that lineup yet, it would still qualify for the Xpeditor service if they deny a warranty claim. $100, but at least you'd have a brand new rod.
  2. Try calling them instead of emailing them. They seem to respond much faster (and give better service?) when you call in. Sorry to hear about the issue, though. As much as I love my Gen2 Premier's and how trouble free they've been, AG is sure having a lot of quality control issues these days.
  3. +1. I use one of my 2 Core 50's for all around fishing jigs, t-rigs, weightless senkos, blades, etc. It works great in that role. Weights are usually under 3/4oz, but mostly because of the rod I have it on, not because I don't think it'd handle up to an ounce or so. My other core is loaded with lighter line and I use it for more finesse type stuff, which the reel also works very well at, of course.
  4. Just be aware that even though you think only your friends can see the info, FB is very likely gathering the data and selling it to someone to market to you. I also have a FB account, but loath using it and only login to see what my clubs have been up to, etc. Seems a necessary evil these days these days, unfortunately.
  5. Well said. I hate doing anything on FB as I know they're just gathering data and selling it, even personally identifiable data. They're allowed to once you sign up and sign in, according to their user agreement.
  6. I've also had nothing but amazing CS from Abu Garcia/Pure Fishing. I've only had to use them twice over the years, but they really made it right and very quickly. I've only got one Gen3, and STX. I have 4 of the Gen2 Premiers and an MGX as well. I've had no real issues with the STX, but it's not quite as good a reel as the Premier's I own. And since I'm not a fan of the IVCB system, the new Premier is off the list. Between those things and all these quality issues, I agree with the poster earlier in this thread that said Abu really screwed the pooch on this Gen3 line. I'd bet their sales numbers are horrible compared the their Gen2 line.
  7. Crystal is very small, so yes, I do. Not what I prefer though. We did good yesterday, 16 bass in about 2.5 hours. All but 3 good fish. Jigs deep, senkos in the weeds. Threw the spinnerbait around some, but just not getting bit on it yet.
  8. Nokomis and Crystal. Haven't done much on the spinner bait yet. Been throwing it some, but no fish on it yet. Yesterday was slow with the cold front and east wind, caught 10 or so before 9am and 3 more in the afternoon. Headed out again in a few minutes, but it's another chilly one.
  9. C-rigs with various craw plastics on them, senko's, small Jewel Jigs, flukes all caught fish.
  10. The question remains about if you've actually owned and had a problem with the Gen3 SX? I own a Gen3 STX. Been a pretty good reel so far, especially at it's price point. Maybe not quite as smooth as my 4 Gen2 Premier's, but very close. I also had a Gen1 SX and own a Gen2 SX. The Gen1 SX's did indeed have too little braking force, to the point that Abu replaced mine with a Gen2 version on what amounted to a word of mouth recall. It has a couple more magnets compared to the Gen1, and does a better job.
  11. I may sell it someday, but that'd be a first for me. I tend to just hang on to stuff after I buy it, good or bad.
  12. Put the boat on the water last Saturday in the Lake Nokomis area. Fished 2-3 hours at different times of the day Sat/Sun/Mon. Bass fishing only, catch and release of course. Have over 40 fish in the boat so far, so pretty fair fishing. Water temps are 58-62 and the bass seem to be finishing up the spawn. Weed growth is behind compared to previous years, but they are starting to pop, and what shallow weeds there are seem to be holding bass. Hope the good fishing continues into the warmer parts of summer.
  13. Sorry, have to disagree there. I have 4 of the Gen2 Premiers, an MGX and a Gen3 STX. I vastly prefer the dual brakes on the Premier and G3 STX to the IVCB system on the MGX. Much easier to set and much more consistent. My MGX now lives below decks as an emergency spare reel. I tried for a long time to get happy with it, even changing spool bearings after a few months. Just never clicked. And you read that a fair amount with the IVCB system. So I will not be buying any of the Gen3 Premiers with that same IVCB system in them. Oh, and in the G3 reels, the STX is only like 1/3oz heavier than the Premier.
  14. I bought a Pixy Type-R last fall. I already owned two steez's that I have to say I'm not overly impressed by. So I was honestly expecting to be underwhelmed by the Pixy too. But it has great reviews and a cult like following, and my wife was pushing me to buy it, so I figured what the heck. I put it on a Dobyn's Extreme DX742, one of my favorite all time 2 powered rods. I fish quite a bit and this setup has done nothing but impress me so far. All I've done is my usual new reel tear down and lube, spool it with 8lb Sunline FC and go fishing. Easy to setup, throws light baits really well and has the power to pull them out of the weeds. It flips well, too. I was flipping unweighted 4" senko's into the weeds with it Monday and it did a great job of it. For sure the best Daiwa BC reel I've ever owned. But that is not a long list, just the Steez's and the Pixy. It replaced a Core 50 with orange seal bearings and the same line on that same rod. Is it way better than the core? No, not really. Maybe a little bit on the really light end of things, but it's not a huge leap. I'm glad I own it and all, but justifying it for someone else is hard. Like Skeletor says, it's an enthusiast thing in the end.
  15. That's the area I'm headed to as well. So any reports from that area would be appreciated.
  16. The BCR GLX's have a pretty stout tip, so they are not as versatile as the NRX you have. All of the rods you listed are fantasically sensitive for bottom contact type fishing. So if I had to make the choices, I'd use the NRX for the light swimbaits and then experiment with the other 2 to figure out which you like best for the other tasks.
  17. I've owned both. Still have one of my GLX BCR803's. I also have all the 3 power NRX casting sticks. The BCR is a great bottom contact stick, but the tip is not as flexible as the NRX. I'd reverse what you want to do and use the NRX for the moving baits and the BCR for jigs and rigs, if I had to choose. The 722 GLX was never one of my favorite sticks. It was just too short for my tastes and it never really found a home in my lineup. But I do read posts where some folks love it, so hopefully it'll work for you.
  18. It won't void the wild card to put a tip on it. Heck, you could bust the upper 1/3 of the rod off and just ship the lower part for the wild card.
  19. +1. Mine is usually way off and does a poor job at repeatability. I know others that have the same results with it. I did measure some static, known weights with mine and it was always several ounces off between pulls. Weather seems to impact its accuracy as well. Just not a trustworthy tool, in my experience.
  20. Erratic shad is good, as is the McStick. But for a better 110, at least IMO, get the Luck E Strike STX. I've got a bunch of both those and the Visions and the STX outfish the 110's for me. Not sure why, but they work great. And only cost like $7 per. You'll want to change the hooks out, but that's true of every jerk bait, including the 110's and LC's.
  21. +1 on the mojo weight. Been using them since late last year and am a total convert. They seem as sensitive as tungsten to me and come through our rock and wood in the Ozark Mt lakes better than anything else I've tried.
  22. Agreed on the 50E. I have one of those too, and installed orange seals in it. Pretty much all of my reels have upgraded bearings. Anyway, it gives up very, very little to the Core except for weight.
  23. The Core 50 is a great reel for bass fishing. Smooth, easy to operate, very low "fussy" factor and good drag. After I bought my first one, I bought 2 Steez's (100 and 103) and a Revo MGX. All are similar in size and weight. Those other reels do not hit the sweet spot for me as much as the 50, so I bought another 50. I still use the Steez's, and they are okay after supertuning, but prefer the 50's. The MGX lives below decks as a spare.
  24. NRX casting rods come with a mix of guides, with most of them being very small recoil guides. Close to the same size as the micro's I have on my Z-Bone, but I don't think they officially call them micro's.
  25. But there is no 894 in the NRX line. I have NRX803, 853(2), 893, 854 and 873(2) in casting rods. I personally don't think the 893 fishes any better than the 853. Both are great rods that seem to excel at the same things. But if I were buying another of those 2 models today, I'd go for the extra 4 inches. Just no downside to it for me, so why not get the longer one?
