  1. Went out to loch raven again today. Caught a small LM on a white/chart spinner. Talked to some other guys, been slow for them too lately. Should pick up this weekend when it gets warm and thunderstormy though.
  2. I was out there this evening dragging everything I could think of around, and didn't get a sniff all evening. Water was like glass until sunset, and it was drizzling on and off all evening.
  3. I see small residential ponds all over the place, but I'm kind of wary of rolling up to someone's house and asking them to use their pond. From experience, crotchety old men with ponds can be rather crotchety.
  4. Anyone know any good farm ponds in the Baltimore area?
  5. Well I'd never fished there before, so I scoped it on google earth and walked out along the east side in order to fish the (probably) less fished side. I saw what I think were loads of bedding bass cutting wakes as I dragged spinners and tubes over their heads, but I couldn't get any of them to bite. The east side has some nice structure though, and that's where I got the two dinky smallmouth. The water there was extremely turbid when I went, probably because of the heavy storms that rolled through a few days ago. The little patuxent watershed that feeds it is pretty messed up in terms of runoff and encumberment, so I imagine the water gets pretty nasty every time it rains. The bottom was loads of squishy silt over top of a rocky bottom.
  6. I hit lake Kittamaqundi today (near columbia mall) and caught two 10" smallmouth on a black booyah spinner. East side shoreline is pretty grungy, so wear something nasty-able. I saw someone catch a fair-looking LM on a white/chart offset spinner, but since I'd snagged mine up at loch raven last week, I didn't get a chance to try that. There's a lot of nasty algae growing on the mud all along the west side, made throwing any kind of treble a pain in the toe. A note: Burning a ratt-l-trap along the shoreline here may result in you snagging the head nearly off small bluegill. Wish I had a pic of that...
