it is shown in statistics that most people can cast mono or flouro farther than braid and longs cast are needed for deep cranking and also braid is horrible for cranking because when retrieved it wont sit on the spool right
update:the tournement was tough, i started it with confidence and the advice you guys gave me. The wind was abd and i eventually just went into the river, i got 3 hits the whole time, 3 good hits but no fish. it was tough. only 2 legal fish were caught. i wasted my time on the lake and should of just went into the river but hey thats fishing
that just breaks the "code of fishing", when i ever see someone fishing i will give them lots of space and dont go into a spot where there is other fisherman and if someone invades me i just return the favor of being a jerk
i just ordered from them for the first time recently and i was very satisfied, i ordered strike kings zeros and a lamiglas excel just got it last friday, my rod was perfect and the zeros are fine, i will be ordering from them again
the lake is preety small, i dont know the exact size bur im pretty sure the plane was a little single engine plane and also the lake is pretty deep with an average depth of 12-15 ft deep
thanks for the advice, btw, my attitude changed after i read Bass_Awkwards and Nate Follmer's posts, i feel more confident now, i think i will try shakey heads where i can and 1/4oz spinnerbaits tomorrow and also thought this was cool but i guess there is rumor that there is a sunken airplane in there, i know a guy who is trying to find it with his structure scan
just wonderin, do any of you guys hunt, if yes, say what do you hunt (deer, turkey, ducks, pheasants, etc.)
i hunt, i mainly hunt deer, turkey, ducks, geese, rabbits, and a little bit pheasant
i have a tournament on tuesday night on a small lake in central new york called onondaga lake, it is small and quite thick with heavy weeds there is about 6"-12" of open water from the weed tops and the surface, there tons of structure like old barges and sunken factory equipment i hate this lake, i never do well on it, to make things worse there is a cold front coming through and i can never do ok after a cold front i wonder what should i look for the fish and what do you think i should fish i was thinking about before i saw the weather report plastics on a punch rig, spinnerbaits, and yum money minnows, but now im lost please help
i just ordered a lamiglas excel and i have had no problems and i love it, this is the first time i have owned a lamiglas and i am impressed with the rod and its made in the USA
im the same way i just started really using baitcasters last year and now i can use one for just about any application except for dropshotting which i prefer a spinning rod for
they both haventheir time and place to most people are more accurate on baitcasters, baitcasters are like winches that just pull the fish out, they can handle heavier weights and line, its really preference, i know a guy who even touch baitcasters and only uses spinning
we have the same problem here on Oneida Lake except they are not pike they are pickeral god i hate them things!!!!!!!! > they love spinnerbaits and loud cranks around here
I picked one up in the store and though ive never fished it felt good in the hands i would say go for it, try it, also i must say all my rods are under $50 except for my new addition a lamiglas excel which i just got today
95% of my fish were caught on senkos this year, when i fsih tournements i fish senkos a lot because they work but when im fishing for fun i use a lot of other baits with limited success, there will be days were i wont even bring my senkos so i can use other baits

the revo sx has magnetic brakes
there is a dial on the side that should the words min on one side and max on the other
to adjust them just turn the dial to max for more braking and to min for less braking you will have to mess around with it to perfect it, also just be careful i have heard that the sx brakes are a little touchy
thats still a little light for musky if i was gonna get a reel for musky it would be maybe a 6500 but i have a quantum iron for flippin' and pitchin' and swimbaits and it works fine
