  1. the split grip is part of the reason that made me pull the trigger on my excel but im glad i got it. made in usa, high quality blank and components and only $110

  4. i got one of the comforst zone ladder stands and for the $50 i got it for its great, the only thing is the platform is a little small but i can deal
  5. what is you guys' problem with split grip. i am neutral about them, i dont hate them nor love them. i have one rod that is split grip and i love it. its my lamiglas excel, great rod, they do reduce weight and it is noticible
  6. excel.....i got the 704c. i love it
  7. when you fish lakes like mine with pike and pickeral everywear its just stupid to LC priced lures. if a pike or pickeral bites off or chews up one of my rapalas im not gonna want to cry, with LC there is $20 gone right there vs $8
  8. 2 guys next door are good to us, they own a tackle shop so i get free and discounted bait when salmon/steelhead and ice fishing. the other there is a an older couple who lets us use their inground pool in return for me doing chores around the yard, doing their driveway in the winter and always help to fix his rotten fence that he wont replace
  9. i went there and found a new hunting jacket for $35, nice coat for the money, it was marked down from $100
  10. hotbuys are great, $30 a dozen, cant beat them
  11. thats a monster where i fish, we got a lot of fish but a 4lber is good but a 6 would be really good
  12. i had one of those once and to be honest for $30 you could not beat it, for a $30 reel i was impressed
  13. i wonder if there is 11lbs whatever oz largemouth in NY like the record
  14. tried it once. got hung up like crazy. finally said screw and picked up T-rig
  15. im not too far from tuckman, only a couple hours, im right on oneida and man do we have smallies and lots of good largies
  16. i live near syracuse ny. you guys have seen nothing until you see what we get. 3-6in...no big deal. we get lake effect snow like everyday and lots of it
  17. ice=perch for me. i ice fish. its something to do
  18. True, in New York a resident is required to pay sales tax on line purchases, but there are exceptions ( maybe medications), fishing tackle certainly isn't one of them. I would think that one would not pay an additional amount on sales tax already paid, one may qualify for a tax deduction on certain purchases. Your CPA or tax preparer would know for sure, so not including sales tax paid may not be in ones benefit. Lund Explorer would know this. A CPA or tax preparer can only prepare a return on the information given i live in NY and you only have to pay sales tax if the store is in state. if it isnt you dont have to pay tax. there 3 i believe bps in NY so i pay sales tax when i order from them. i ordered from TW and my order came out to $113.97 without tax, since i didnt pay tax i payed $113.97
  19. theres a lot of good reels in $100 range, i cant wait to get a PQ this spring
  20. Just a little FYI, these are all Skeet designed. Go and check out his signature series by Lamiglas. You can usually find em at some bigger tackle stores. I mentioned it earlier I think in this thread. Skeet prefer a slower bend. I think many of the Elites do(not a majority). There is plenty of back bone, and they are sensitive enough. My opinion after fishing em for a few months was that they are a decent rod. A bit heavy for my liking, but the rod action and design was nice. Casting distance is great. Just as a side note, they are selling a ton of those rods and his fugly reels. And to answer your last question, the answer is yes. Depending on the part of the country it is most likely another brand of Skeets. those victory reels are trash. they feel like cheaper than than those $30 reels you see in walmart. they are not smooth at all and like SeanW said they are UGLY
  21. i like it, they get some messed up stuff
  22. like most i think my rods are tools. i treat them with care but they do get wear from use. my most expensive set up has scratches on the rod and the reel has some boat rash. i would cry if my excel broke though but i treat it with care
  23. though its discontinued the rick clunn signature series reel, not the purple one, the old blue one, i love that reel its so smooth. im gonna buy a PQ this spring and people say its awesome. i cant wait tp get it
  24. i am now almost 16 but remember when i was young with my dad. when i was really young he never took his gear and just let me fish. as i got older i wanted to start fishing lures. he started to bring his own gear but still only fished a little bit. though i really dont fish with him a lot these days when we do go he doesnt fish like i do unless we are fishing walleye(his favorite target) just ease him into it, thats what my dad did and now it runs my life
  25. the rods are not bad rods. ive owned 2 and liked them. the problem i have is the warranty. the OP says thats not an issue. what model did you not like? i tried my friend's spinnerbait/worm rod....like fishing a wet noodle. way too floppy. i bought a lamiglas excel, its a 100x better rod than the tessara. its stiffer, you can actually fish a worm on it. the only rod i would think of buying from that line up is the cranking rod.
