  1. Dang SoFla, not sure if you had a good day or a bad day?? I know it's been a few months since I had a day that productive though.. I'm thinking a night trip might be in order at this point. Maybe Sunday night, I'll let you guys know if I have any luck
  2. Awesome fish man! I think your 7lb estimate sounds good... but what the hell do I know I've never caught a 7lb bass :-/
  3. Whats the latest guys? I fished Lox last week and caught about 8 fish ranging from 1-2.5lb. Fished the Holeylands on Tuesday and caught 5 dinks in four hours fishing. Is anybody catching anything of size??? Or are we doomed til the temps drop.... Are the fish losing weight from the summer heat or is it just me?
  4. 3 things come to mind: 1. Make sure your seting up your baitcaster correctly for each bait your casting. A spinner needs to be set up differently than a senko, unless of course they weigh exactly the same. 2. Get a spinner rod and reel. They are much easier to learn on and much more forgiving. I understand what a tight budget is all about, but you can find a good usable combo for about fifty bucks. 3. Remember always; A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. That should put it into perspective for you. Stick with it my friend and good luck
  5. May not be addictied to fishing, But the gear 8-) Your a perfect example of my point, a 15 year old hooked on fishing. A much better hobby than alcohol, drugs, geting in trouble, or just ticking me off in general. I have a feeling you'll go a long way. You should thank the person who got you into fishing...
  6. You're getting up too early. If the bass aren't biting between 5 and 7:30, sleep in. [/quote] genius.. best advice you'll get
  7. I'm with you on that one.....
  8. Take your kids fishing and teach them a skill, hobby, and obsession that will keep them occupied and out of trouble for the rest of thier lives. Your wife will think your a genius and you can say you did it all for the kids. And someday, maybe, your kids will thank you. Remember there are a lot of addictions worse than fishing.......
  9. I hear ya...I read on another thread that Everglades Pro Bass down here is shutting down (Griffin and University). Every time I go to Bass Pro Shops, I make a point of going there first. Unfortunately, it's hard for them to compete with that monster BPS store right down the street. Last week I went to Everglades Pro Bass and bought some stuff...my credit card strip wasn't working on her machine. She bagged the items up and said "next time you come in you owe me $21". I went to the ATM at lunch, went in and bought another $30 worth of stuff for the bait monkey... Like to know if that's true.... I thought bad economies were the best time to start a small business??? That's what our government would have us think
  10. Florida We won't see fall weather til November... If we're lucky we get a week of winter in January. So no changes for now!
  11. Murky water + weeds= Weightless Senko rigged weedless. Cast along the edge of the weeds and let it sink. Then slowly twitch it back. That's all you need to know, for now...
  12. Very Nice, brings back memories
  13. I like all the gators in the backround... just waiting. Nice catch!
  14. Dang that is just so true
  15. I believe in the post RW says if you fish several times to no avail, you need to find new water, you may want to take his advice. If you were to give more information about where you are fishing (like location, water clarity, type of vegetation, etc), more helpful information would come your way. You are geting hundreds, if not thousands, of years worth of experienced advice from this site. Don't give up, once you "get it" things will change. Good luck my friend...
  16. A lot of people say most hits happen on the fall with a jig, personally I don't find that to hold true. Most of my jig bites happen while working it along the bottom. I'd have to agree with above sentiments though, some days one works better than the other, and you won't know which til you try.
  17. Since both of those baits are worked on a slack line, you don't have much of a choice than to watch the line. That's the way I've always done it... Braid should be providing you with the most sensitive "feel". Don't know much about that rod/reel set-up, but it sounds like you have exceptional equipment. Just gotta get the hang of it. Good Luck!
  18. To be honest I never met a bass fisherman that wasn't a wuss, bass fishing is fun if you don't have anything better to do. You did well to land the fish, most couldn't because they don't know how to, you can't drag a pelagic species like you do a bass. I'll take saltwater any day of the week. That's funny I find the same holds true when I go out bass fishing with a saltwater angler. After 30 minutes of casting they start complaining.. all they wanna do is troll aimlessly around with a beer in thier hand. Same sport, different worlds...
  19. I've had this happen before. If you inspect the tail of your worm you may find bite marks at the end, or even halfway up. This tells me that it was probably small fish grabbing the tail and running with it. Seting the hook is useless in this case, because the hook is not in the mouth. Of course I have no way of verifying this but it's the only thing that makes sense to me........ I know I have had small LM hold on all the way to the boat before releasing too.
  20. Everything I wrote above was verified today. Fished for a few hours (9:30-12:30) today at MM35 with same results. I caught 6 in this time. 4 came from deeper water and all came in between 1lb-2.5lbs. Threw a senko fo 15 minutes and caught 2 dinks, put it back in the box and went back to deeper water. Pray you have clouds, wind, rain, or all of the above. Today was sunny with no wind. It was hot as heck and the laziest, slowest bite I've seen all year.
  21. Hello to all my fellow South Florida fisherman. I am wondering how fishing has been for everybody in the deep south. For me, the bite has slowed down over the last month, however it is still there. I do 99.9% of my fishing in the everglades(Broward County area). At this point a normal day of fishing for me (6am-12noon) will produce 10-20 fish. Most range from 1lb-3lb and that seems to be the norm for me. My biggest this year was 4.5lb. I'm dying to break that 5lb mark and I know they are down here because I've seen pics posted by local members (like Capt Shane) that verify it. I would like to know how you guys are doing, average size, biggest this year, and where you are fishing. Peace guys and if anyone is up for some glades fishing let me know.............
  22. Funny what can happen when you read the instructions ;D ;D ;D even though your breaking man-code
  23. Welcome Dan, if you can keep up fishing with Shane then I'm sure we can learn a thing or two from you. Send me a PM sometime I would like to come by and check out your baits, Shane won't shut up about em'. I'm right down the street in Cooper City.
