  1. I've mat and fished with quite a few BR members over the years. They have all been good experiences. I really miss the annual Bass Resource RoadTrips. These were always an outstanding way to meet new folks and make new friends. I think we somehow lost sight of that simple fact. I made several life long friends on these trips. What's a few tips and tricks compared to that?
  2. Fishing out of a small boat, or a yak, means an anchor is as necessary as fishing tackle. Might as well stay home without it.
  3. I like your first option. If you can get a custom stick to fit your budget, why not go for it? You get exactly what you want. Want a shorter handle for yak duty? No problem. Got big hands and want a larger diameter grip? No problem. Bling? Order it as plain, or fancy, as you wish.
  4. I dont need another spinning reel. In fact, Kent just made me offer to buy an immaculate Stella, for a great price, and I turned it down. I have five spinning rods and five spinning reels. Spinning gear accounts for about 10% of my fishing time. Another reel would just sit on the shelf. I already have enough of those.
  5. Mike, can we assume while using said nylon to apply KVD to your line, the nylon was not being used in it's original capacity?
  6. Found a Supreme XT 30 on Amazon for $68.
  7. I was introduced to this product at one of the Bass Resource RoadTrips. We all got free samples. Been using, and recommending it, ever since. One note of caution when applying L&L with a rag. Do not use cotton. This is straight from the people who make the product. They told us this when they introduce it to us, and explained it's benefits and application. Something about interfering with the ionic bond between the line and the product. I've slept a couple of times since that trip, so I dont remember the details. I have always suspected the reports of the product not working as advertised being the result of the use of cotton during application.
  8. I thought it was a rare largemouth peacock bass fish.
  9. But I can't shoot that well.
  10. No problem. Every person I've met on a Bass Resource RoadTrip has called me gotti, just like the gangster. It is, at the least, better than goatey. I heard that once, and that was enough.
  11. If you just replace the tip, you're going to find you can't cast as light a bait as you could before. The action will be slower. I'd try it. What do you have to lose? You might just find it good for something. Like larger paddle tails, slow rolling big spinnerbaits, c-rig, etc....
  12. There are a lot of Ambassadeurs in service. That one is a large reel. I'd use one that size for muskie, striper, catfish, big swim baits, etc.....
  13. You don't know the half of it, my friend. Welcome to Illinois; where our governors make our license plates.
  14. We haven't done this in awhile, and we have a lot of new members, so here we go. What's the scoop with your screen name? Some are obvious, some not at all. I'll start rough women's lotion ---gh---o----------ti ---f-----i-----------sh Clever, eh? Wish I lived up to it. The one that baffles me is Angry John. I've had several voice, text and email exchanges with the man, and I have to say he is about as far from angry as can be. I'm more inclined to call him Gentleman John. So, amigo. Wassup wit da name
  15. Sorry man. Couldnt help myself.
  16. Well, call me asleep at the wheel, but just what is cracking? I fish tubes a lot, and have never heard the term.
  17. Sam, that is top shelf stuff. You sweetie has some talent.
  18. Looks like its time for "Fluffy" to comment on this thread.
  19. ^^^THIS^^^ Before you spend any cash on spool bearings, either learn how to properly clean and lube your reel(s), or send it/them to Mike at Delaware Valley Tackle. I hate to admit how much money I spent on spool bearings before realizing I was pizzing away my money. If you buy a Daiwa or Shimano, or a made in Sweden Ambassadeur, the spool bearings do not need to be "upgraded". Unless, of course, you are one of those who has to have the most expensive toys.
  20. A pencil, run through the spool of line, clamped in my toes. Never have to look to hard to find it.
  21. Might have to try that. Pretty sure the fish wont care if I smell like a girl. LOL
  22. Never heard "em called cheese mats, but I agree; good places to check when it's hot and sunny.
  23. That kind of thing should be here: https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/7-fishing-locations/
