  1. That is made to fit one of these http://www.anglersworkshop.com/Fuji-Spinning-Seats/Fuji-V-Spinning-seat-with-Hidden-Thread-Hood Also, fits newer fuji casting seats. And, older KDPS hoods if you trim one a bit.
  2. Good advice from Batson. Pick up a couple old rods from a flea market or garage sale. Strip the guides and practice wrapping and finishing. Thread and epoxy are the hardest skills to master.
  3. Thismis one of the best ideas I've read here in quite a while! Thanks, Chop
  4. I would not recommend urethane based products like Lumiseal or Permagloss. And stay away from products not designed specifically for rod building. Threadmaster or Flex Coat, both two part epoxies, designed for rod building, will be your best bet. Stay away from Prokote. It is known for erratic curing behavior.
  5. Outstanding!!!!! Beautiful work, my friend.
  6. Look to the right side of this page. DVT. Delaware Valley Tackle Mike will get it done for you.
  7. I've had one flu shot in my life; 20+ years ago. Got a really bad case of the flu shortly thereafter. Haven't had a flu shot since. And, have only had the flu once since.
  8. Nice expo. Met Scott and his wife Friday. Great people, and now new friends. Met a bunch of really good rod builders. Attended several seminars, all of which were very much worth my time. Dinner Saturday evening with the NERBS. A good time, that. Picked up some tip, tricks and techniques to up my game, met a lot of nice people, and didn't spend too much money. A book, two spools of thread and about 200 cork rings. Also, free book, courtesy of Billy Vivona. Thanks, Billy!!! This was my first ICRBE, but will not be my last.
  9. Just checked in to the hotel across the street from the Expo. Stoked to see it all tomorrow. Met Bill Batson in the hotel elevator just now. Time to find some refreshments. Scott is here someplace.
  10. Paradiddle time
  11. Scott, pm sent.
  12. Gotta be a corn dog, man. Love those dorkfish.
  13. Sweet!!!!
  14. Those blanks are too new to the market for there to be any real performance data. I will say I have built rods on the original series, gen2, and elite pro blanks. They have all been decent rods for the cost. There are better options. For my money, Rainshadow Immortal blanks are better than gen2 high mod MHX blanks.
  15. Check here. https://www.mcmaster.com/#o-rings/=1bfvm8e
  16. If you put grease in the anti-reverse bearing, that is likely the problem. Clean it well, reassemble and lube with a couple of drops of oil on a q-tip.
  17. They boat flip the fish because "somebody" instituted the STUPID rule banning nets. Did I mention this is STUPID?
  18. Ronert, would that be an old Gerstner tool chest? Always wanted one of those.
  19. I have a few of those, and they are fine reels. What line guide? There is no line guide on a spinning reel.
  20. Most likely an issue with washers. I haven't had one of your reels open, but almost all of the spinning reels I've service had washers on both sides of the main gear. They need to go back exactly like they came out. Try Putting the "extra" washer on top of the main gear. On the side with teeth.
  21. Here you go. Almost any kind of wood available. Good people too. http://www.bellforestproducts.com/info/specific-gravity/ anything with a specific gravity of 1 will be neutrally buoyant.
  22. Recently got a rod in for a quick guide replacement. The rod was bought used. My client broke one of the guides. He sent it off for repair, and somebody did a terrible job. Wrong guide, ugly wraps, lumpy epoxy. When you looked at thenrod, the funky guide repair job stuck out like a dime in a goat's butt. sent an email to Dobyns to find out exactly what guide should be on the rod in that particular location. They got back to me the same day, asking for my address so they could send me the guide. I asked for an address to send payment for the guide since this was obviously not a warranty issue. They said, no problem, this one's on us. This is an example of customer service going a long, long way above and beyond. I'd heard their customer service was good. This is not good. It is exceptional!!!! I build my rods. I no longer buy them. But if I ever feel the need to buy myself a factory rod, Dobyns just went to the top of my list.
