  1. Another quick questions guys. I came across the free fleece offer on the Abu website (for reel purchased $199.95 or more). There's also a hooded sweatshirt promo (rod, reel, or combo $69.95 or more). I didn't know if I could double dip this beings the reel falls into both categories. I called Abu and the lady I talked to said she couldn't find a reason why I couldn't but also said it's not up to her and didn't want to make any promises. I was wondering if anyone has ever dealt with this before. http://www.abugarcia.com/sites/default/files/AbuMarmotFleeceOffer_H945426.pdf http://www.abugarcia.com/sites/default/files/AbuSweatshirtOffer_H645373.pdf Chase
  2. I'd say the watch and earrings with the name Michael Kors caught her fancy
  3. Looks like an overwhelming KEEP. Thanks for the input. Looks like the hunt for a new rod begins!
  4. So the Old Lady gave me a brand new Revo Premier as a gift. This is a few tiers above what I usually use. I do own a couple Smokes and an STX that I've gotten second hand off of the Flea Market. She put a lot of time and thought into the gift but gave me the green light to return it and get whatever I would like/use most. My first thought is it's a trap. I'll be scalped if I return it. But I got to thinking, such a nice reel deserves a high end rod IMO. So wouldn't it be wise to return the reel and use that money for a high end rod (Dobyns, St. Croix, Loomis) then pony up a little extra for a second hand Premier from the Flea Market? That way, the rod warranty would be valid and registered under my name and still show that she made a great choice in reel. You know, to show her I care and whatnot. Anyway, I'm just looking for a few opinions on the matter. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Chase
  5. Hey guys, I've been apart of the forums for a few years now. Never posted very much but have had several transactions over on the flea market. Just recently thought I'd start posting and venturing out into other parts of the forum. I thought I could get some advice from ya'll. About a month ago I had ALL of my tackle taken from the trunk of my car along with my golf clubs. Needless to say I was pretty PO'd over it. Thankfully, everything is covered under insurance for the price of the deductible. I had ~$1500 worth of tackle alone taken. As much as I'll miss my old gear, I see this as a blessing in disguise. So as I wait for the insurance check to come through I'm trying plan ahead. Everything was a little helter skelter to say the least with my old gear. I figured I would start from the beginning and ask for any takes on tackle storage. I used to have about 6 or 7 run of the mill BPS 3700 boxes to hold cranks, spinnerbaits, topwaters, jigs. Basically had a large grocery bag full of soft plastics (it was a mess). I also keep a ton of stuff in my tackle bag such as tools, line conditioners, attractants, line, and so on. And don't get me started on terminal tackles, That was a crapshoot as far as storage goes. I was just wondering what you guys think is best as far as best tackle bag, types of boxes (i.e. FTO vs BPS), best soft plastic organization, and definitely terminal organization (definitely my weakness). Any thoughts would be great. Thanks Chase
  6. Used to keep most of my tackle in my trunk. I say "used to" because it all got stolen, along with my golf clubs, about a month ago. Won't be doing that anymore
  7. Hey folks, recently I bought a load of rods and reels via Craigslist and came across a Fenwick Fenglass. It's a custom made rod with a blank #SP 903. It seems to be a bit old (about ten years or so) and I've heard nothing but good things about Fenwick (this along with an HMX from the same lot are my first Fenwicks). I was wondering if anyone has ever used this model and how the performance is with it. And possibly a price estimate as I have no idea what it's worth. Any advice is helpful! Thanks Chase
  8. Anyone ever fished it? A buddy and I are fishing in our first tournament there this weekend and neither of us have ever been. We launch from the Hot Ditch and we have a have a few ideas on what we'd like to do after studying topo maps. I am interested in knowing if anyone has had any success lately and any other advice, tips and pointers (lures, presentations, locations) for fishing the lake in the current conditions. Thanks Chase
  9. I've been looking into getting a new tackle box lately and can't decide. I've been looking at a Plano Softsider 4470 and Plano Chill Bag. I was wondering how many of the 3700 Stowaway boxes the 4470 can hold and any of your guys preferences on these or other similar bags/boxes. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks Chase
