  1. Anyone here ever fished Lake Frederic? I want to go there but it is a non gas engine lake and while I was looking through some of the photo's of some of the fish people have caught there I noticed that some had gas engines... although in the up position. What is the rule can you put in with a gas and just use the trolling motor?
  2. Way2slow, Thanks again I really do appreciate the info and I will print that off so I have it with me when I start looking for a prop. I was looking for some info last night on the web and since you guy's have proven my theory that this boat is underpowered, I wanted to ask you all if it would be possible to step up to a 125 or a 150, Thinking more along the lines of a 125. I am not seriously considering it right now but in the future if something should happen to the engine and is too expensive to repair then I will want to make a change. She may be old and she may be a little slow but I love this little nitro.
  3. Gander mountain, any place like that or you can get tons of stuff from ebay.
  4. I agree with leo, The way you kept it stored is just like buying it from the store only it's on your spool instead of the manufacture's.
  5. Guy's I owe everyone an apology for posting some misleading information I was not measuring my draft correctly nor on my friends boat's my draft is actually 14" not 8" like I previously posted and with a passenger I am sure it would be upwards around 16" I am truly sorry for posting that and will double check to be sure before posting any more info.
  6. Your welcome and good luck make sure you keep the same frame of mind wider is better, stability is important.
  7. Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback and I too have tried other stuff and like it, But for me I think I will stay with Quantum and I know it's only one time out with this code but I will know for sure when I take a week long fishing trip next month. You can bet it's going to get a good work out!!!
  8. I think tracker makes some great boats Mark but you definitely owe it to yourself to shop around and look harder at the construction of these boats before deciding on a particular make and model. Pay close attention to detail...How strong is the stern, Is the material reinforced enough to withstand the occasional rock banging and check out the manufactures reviews of their product by real customers with consumer reports.com And I am sure there are other sites that you can find by going to google and type in your request.
  9. That is some great info guys and thanks and I was wondering the same thing. Evrgladesbasser, I am like you in the same respect that I don't run my boat that fast either but I have had it to wide open throttle only once just to see how it really is and loved it but the conditions were perfect to do that and most of the time they are not. But like you I would love to get on plane much faster with some added weight and I have been looking for the prop that gives the underpowered boater a chance at doing so and thanks to way2slow and rhino I think we have finally found an answer. Rhino, A friend of mine has a fin on his boat that helps him with a lot of different issues he had on his boat but he has a 150 on his. My question would be to you is do you think an underpowered boat would plane faster with a foil? Way2slow, How would one determine which one would be better if they both get you on plane faster? and does either one effect idle speed more than the other for instance I load my boat by driving it on the trailer is this prop going to make it faster at idle too?
  10. I have never fished that river but if it is swift you want to be able to mount a stong trolling motor to it and a small gas engine. Have you tried looking at trackerboats.com?
  11. Good advice Bass-Brat Thanks!!
  12. You have a great point. What will you be doing specifically with the boat IE... Lakes, river, pond and maybe we can get you close to what you want. Me personally I like the Apache it gives you the best of both worlds.
  13. basser have you ever fished with a shimano? just wondering what it is about Quantum you like so well cause after this weekend I fail to see the big argument and I have used other products before this weekend.
  14. Tracker boats are great boats but what are you looking for specifically? there is a lot of knowledge here with all of these guys and gals and they can put you in the right direction.
  15. I am not trying to be offencive but was your partner heavier than anyone you have ever had on the boat and did he or she bring a lot of tackle with him or her and maybe a cooler or something heavy? The reason I ask is because this boat is very sensitive to weight distribution I found that out the hard way my self and if you were to shift some of the weight to the front it plains much faster and I too thought I had a problem but your boat is like mine and it sits deep in the back and I even put a predetor prop on mine and it helped the top end a lot but did nothing for the launch to get on plane with extra weight on board, Since then I have been experimenting with different trim angles on the launch and that has done a lot
  16. Are you still supposed to kill these creatures and report them to the vigf or do you just kill them?
  17. I don't know that weight is really a factor for me I can say that I have used some heavy reels in my time and fished all day with them and did not used to bother me but I would be willing to swap a little weight for durability. once I am on the water and concentrating on fishing not much else seems to matter at that point. Are they really that heavy?
  18. Mine is a 90 but the same exact configuration, did you have extra people with you this time out?
  19. Wow, I am going to have to start keeping an eye on ebay and thanks for getting back.
  20. You need to address the broken key way first or have you done that already?
  21. I did try it out this weekend and had no problems with it and caught a nice little 4 lb but like you stated michbassman it is still in the back of my mind about the unpredictability but this time out I found nowhere where it had seperations or where the line looked like it was coming apart and casted really smooth and it did not curl up like it did the first time I tried it so I guess they have made some improvements.
  22. CHICITYBASSER, Thanks, I was really worried about it especially after the first reply I got and thought oh my but after this weekend I was exteremly happy with the results, Flipping and pitching and all around performance was just more than I could ask for. What is the next step up from the code in quantum?
  23. I tested my code out this past weekend and made over 100 casts with it and found it to be amazing not one hint of trouble no matter how hard i casted it would not backlash, I had very little noise in the gears at the end of the day, It is a great reel for the price and would recommend it to anyone.
  24. I think everyones first bait caster experience is one for the memory banks. Good job not giving up on it and finding the problem good luck and have fun with it.
  25. Did you get an owners manual and your not understanding that or are you talking about the depth finder?
