  2. I forgot to tell you to be sure you have all of your saftey gear the vdgif WILL be there!!
  3. Are you sure that's not a bait caster rod?
  4. Wow you couldn't have picked a worse weekend to fish Anna!!! It is filled with boaters this weekend so be careful and take your time and pay close attention to what's all around you at all times. What has been working for me is top water buzz baits in the early am especially between Duke's creek and Sturgeon's creek as you move closer to the mid morning mid day switch to live bait and I would say to stay around the islands between the 2 creeks mentioned earlier and as you progress to the evening hours after you run out of live bait I have been having some good success with trick worms from Valentine's cove all the way up to the 208 bridge on a T-rig. If I were you I would launch early and probably at the state park or at Anna point...Sturgeons is most likely going to be slammed!! Good luck be safe and be happy!!
  5. X 10 and welcome aboard !!!
  6. Good thing I saw this post I was considering a trip there but with a 17' Nitro I think I will have to pass. Thanks for the info.
  7. Great thanks!!
  8. I agree it sounds like the controller is giving you problems and if you take it apart you will most likely see the issue...If it happens to be corrosion on the contact pad you can clean it up with a soft brass brush and to keep it from coming back you can coat the contact's with die-electric grease.
  9. We have a small lake in my area stocked with Northern pike and I lost him the first time with one of my favorite lure's and went back the next day and caught him this time not only did I get my lure back but I gained 2 others
  10. Thanks a bunch Angler...I have a gander mountain about an hour north of me I will pick one or two up there. And yea I am pretty excited about fishing with my baby girl she is 16 but still my baby.
  11. That's what I was wondering about too I am looking forward to some replies.
  12. ggfishing, Sent you a pm... just kidding lol Since things have obviously changed around my old stomp'n grounds I really cant help you much...But if you are coming close to my area some day I will help you. There are a lot of river stretches and little lakes here where you can enjoy fishing from Front Royal to Harrisonburg which is where I live. What do you want to fish for Bass, Northern Pike, or just fishing in general? And if you are interested I can help you find a place to rent a canoe.
  13. I wish I could say one way or the other. I have only fished from the front of the boat, But from my experience there always seems to be something else you have to watch for and on really windy days it gets pretty difficult to concentrate on fishing and making sure you don't put the boat in dangerous situations especially when there are a lot of boats on the water and they have no concern for you at all. I would have to give the person on the back the advantage since he or she only has the fishing to focus on.
  14. Sam, Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have all of the safety gear and we wear our pfd's all day long period end of discussion and absolutely no alcohol is allowed on the boat... It took me 20 years to get this boat and to lose it like that or have someone get hurt would be well let's just say it's not happening...I love my Bud but my family's safety is #1 1 question though about the bags I forgot about those!! Where is the best place to get them and do they charge a fee if you have to use theirs? And one more thing you described my daughter to a tee are you sure you two don't know each other? lol And yes I am already excited about her and I doing this together I think this is going to be the longest 3 weeks of my life ;D
  15. Thanks guy's that's great info, I was using a jig with several small spoons on it that explains why she hit that and not the other baits I was using at the time. But it was a slower presentation I had used I was not burning it at all which confuses me but I have made a mental note of it so I can hopefully use it again someday Thanks again !!!
  16. I am going to Lake Anna the week of 7/21 and they are having a open tournament on Friday that week, My youngest daughter asked that we join in. Not having any tournament experience what so ever But having basic knowledge of how they work what should I prepare ourselves for?
  17. Catt, With a post spawn bass I know they follow the same path out to deeper waters but if you don't mind a question I would be interested in knowing if they sometimes group together and recoup and once you get one to trigger to a bite does it wake up the rest and get them started as well? The reason I am asking is because I felt like that may have happened to me this past weekend in a 20 foot pocket that I had found. I was having a real hard time getting them to react but one took the bait and after that it seemed like it was game on or am I way off base?
  18. I have never owned one but a good friend of mine loaned me one for a weekend and I really liked the reel for what it was... They are not bad reel's but I just don't care to own one due to the feel of it.
  19. I think it's due to the spring like weather...everyone would rather be on the water rather than read post's from beginners like me. lol I can't say that I blame them either.
  20. No problem Be safe and have fun.
  21. Chicken salad sandwiches Yummy!!
  22. OK so I misspelled a word BIG DEAL and thank you for answering my question and I shall try harder to make sure my grammar is not in question when I have a question to ask.
  23. No your boat is fine if you keep track of your time and know how long it will take you to get back to the check in you will do great. Good luck with the tournaments be safe and have fun!!
