  1. I've been bass fishing for over 30 years, and I had the best morning last year. I caught over 50 fish in 3 hours, and the average size was 5 ~6lb. The first 22 fish I caught in the morning was on the Rio Rico. Only 2 fish out of 22 were less than 5lb. The average was about 7lb, the biggest one was 9.5lb, and I lost a 10 or 11 pounder. It was just crazy. All the big fish were jumping by the bank. My boat basically stayed in the same spot, and this all happened in the first hour of the morning. It was unbelievable.
  2. My favorites are OSP Rudra Megabass Lates Megabass 110 Ima Flit Pointer 100 The Rudra and the Lates catch bigger fish. The Lates is a floater, though.
  3. My current lineup is 3 x Steez, 2 x Fuego, 1 x Zillion, 1 x Zillion 50th Anniv., 1 x PX68. I like using the same reels, but the problem, when used with the similar looking rods, is hard to see which rod is which on the boat. I have 5 x Dobyns + 2 other rods on the boat last week. All my Steez were on the Dobyns 6'8" rods, but different powers. It gets confusing, sometimes.
  4. Depending on the bottom structure, but normally 1/16oz with the spinning and 1/8oz with the baitcaster.
  5. It's one of my main jerkbaits, along with Megabass Lates, Ima Flit, and OSP Rudra. It catches fish, but I've never caught anything over 6lb with it. The Lates and the Rudra definitely catch bigger fish. I caught many fish over 7lb with the Lates, and the Rudra. If you want to go for bigger fish, try them.
  6. Back in the 80s, I used 4" grub t-rigged or jig head a lot. I stopped using it, because I felt like I was cheating. They just catch fish.
  7. Try a wakebait. I just fished similar location this morning, and I caught 10 fish, before going to work. The ones I like are from OSP.
  8. When I slow down, I usually use poppers. I just give it more and longer pauses.
  9. I'm lucky enough to make a little more money than the last few years. I'm also lucky enough to fish 4 or 5 times a week. But, this could change anytime. I've spent way too much money (over $25,000) for fishing this year. I'll have to start spending less, and be ready for some bad things, caused by this economy.
  10. What is the Iz'e HLC spool? I have purchased the TDZ 100M spool for mine and it seems to work really well. HLC is Hyper Long Cast spool from Daiwa. It's lighter than the stock spool, and casts lighter lures better.
  11. Dinks love small wakebaits.
  12. You don't need any medical attention. Wait until you start spending way too much money and time. I've spent close to $28,000 this year, and no, I didn't even buy a boat. I go fishing 4 or 5 times a week, and all my vacations are used for fishing. I don't need medical attention yet.
  13. It also depends on the crankbaits. Some are easier than the others.
  14. Recently, I taught two guys how to use poppers. They just started fishing a few months ago, and never used topwaters before. They caught a few fish right away. I don't know how you're moving it, but don't twitch too hard. You don't have to make the popping noise all the time. Sometimes, I even shake it. The poppers have been my main lures for at least 15 years. I've tried so many different ones, but right now, I can live with only three kinds, Evergreen One's Bug, Rio Rico, Lucky Strike T Splash. The One's Bug is my main popper. It can do so many things, and it walks very well, too. You could just buy it, and forget about any other popper. You might be able to save money that way, instead of buying many different kinds. And, no, I don't work for Evergreen.
  15. I don't get upset, but I get really disappointed. One time, I lost a bass about 12lb. I went to bed around 10PM, but woke up at midnight. I couldn't sleep for the rest of the night.
