  1. Then there's the confusion over one company's MH and how it relates to another company's. IE your MH Mojo is just about equal to a Carrot Stick, or Phenix Heavy. This is across the board for the most part. Tell us what rods you are looking at and we can help from there.
  2. They need to kill off the Lori ghost too... My wife and I high fived when they killed off the alive version.
  3. The Seinfeld model is sick!
  4. 4" Spros in floating and fast sink are killer.
  5. The Muskie episode ... "it's a seabeast!" I die when I hear it.
  6. Tpost I know Gilly. He's the 2012 TBF National Champion. One of the top anglers on Champlain. You're in great hands. Mississquoi bay (goose/gander bays) will be pretty warm at that point but you may still get fish on the northern tip of Martindale reef (hump in the middle of the bay). I'd imagine a ride down to Burton, Savage and Gull Islands to fish the humps for big smallies is on the agenda (just my guess).
  7. Keitech swing impact fat and pitbosses
  8. Put in at the St albans bay fishing pier and work the wreaks near shore and maybe get over to where mill river enters. Fairfield pond is close to you and way less windy. Otter creek is also good. Don't forget wading the laplatte river!
  9. I use them like a crankbait. Throw a beaver/craw or swimbait and retrieve them so they are just ticking off the rocks pausing occasionally. Sort of "power footballing".
  10. If you can score a Lamiglas Excel (663 or 703) at $100 you'd be psyched. Lamiglas raised the price to like $135, but some places still have them at $100. I have a 703 and love the thing for ds-ing.
  11. I fish Keitechs most of the time. The one thing I like to do with hollow swimbaits (money minnow, shadalicious, bass magic) is to turn them into a line through type bait. They can be deadly when fish are just whacking at baits or you are fishing deep and still want a horizontal drop.
  12. I have the Recon 766. Last year I had a curado 201e7 and 50lb pp mounted on it. It's a great flip/pitch rod and very capable for 6" Hudds (68s too) as well as Carolina rigging. Very nice set up.
  13. GP fat ika. Thick junk in shallow water to 25' on rocks they get bit.
  14. Get a file/craft box that is deep enough for your baits to not hit the bottom when they are hung vertical. Get some threaded rods that are ~1 wider than the part of the box under the lip, get some matching nuts and washers and you're done. Use big snap/swivels as hangers. ~$20 to make. I use one without the threaded rods and have the swivels attached to the lid of the box with zip ties, no having to cram by hands into a tight space. SICK collection!
  15. Shiny white surface, no glare reflecting into the water for bass to see there... Especially standing on the red/gold/green/blue/white/silver flaked boat hull.
  16. I used a Zillion HSLA, Curado E7 and 7:1 PQ for my Hammers/Keitechs. Find a nice slow song with a slow cadance and sing it to yourself as you retrieve (I use Row Row Row Your Boat). It helps you slow down and keeps your mind somewhat clear of distractions (It's like a monk repeating a mantra). You will look weird and you will likely have social services called on you but you will catch fish.
  17. I've had that rod. It's a great jerkbait and popper rod.
  18. Misprint. 3/8 to 1 1/2. Sweet spot is ~ 3/4oz.
  19. Eeeesh... I have and LOVE my Recon 715, but that Cumara is pretty sweet.
  20. Toray and Mitsubishi are the two largest carbon composite manufactures in Japan. Toray makes a very nice highend product. It's Phenix's way of attaching a quality name to their product (which is very nice!). 36 Ton is a way of designating the quality/strength of the blank. While not apples to apples it's roughly IM-8 level. I have no idea what Phenix's special sauce is, aside from obviously being their propritary resin. http://www.toray.com/news/carbon/nr110124.html Mercedes is working with Toray...
  21. Fraud Investigator for the State of Vermont. "Welfare" fraud mostly. Yes it's just like you'd imagine and twice as frustrating.
  22. Looks like one "big" one in the track. Two "big ones" locked in place on either side of the front hook (one in front one in back). Three little Bob's in the chamber created by the hump in the weight transfer track.
  23. Carolina Rig. If you're a co-angler (I seem to recall you are) and your boater is drifting over a reef or hump, you can very easily do really well just dragging. Just watch the electronics to see that the boat is moving at roughly .8-1.3 MPH. A fat Ika with a nail weight and a swimbait on a football jig are great as well if you are working deep hard structure. Drop shot as well. If it's not too choppy I've seen smallies CRUSH spooks and Popper's in 30fow. Laker and Salmon guys on champ regularly get huge smallies down 30-50 feet. They're just out chasing Alewives. Those obviously aren't fish you'd target in a tournament but it goes to show if their out suspended in that depth, 20' isn't that deep.
  24. Boil the rear end for a bit more kick?
  25. It's a substantially larger profiled bait than a jig of equal weight with the same trailer. The bait tends to take more of a horizontal position than a jig/trailer when at rest. Not really good or bad, just things to keep in mind.
