  1. Shimano Sonora would be my vote.
  2. The grayish green ones are basically TD advantages . Black and red are Aggrests.
  3. Hawg Tech Curved for a Zillion will fit. Curved with red accent and cork knobs is $99 Lexa Handle with knobs and 2 bearings is less than $20 Zillion 50th handle is ~$50 but you need knobs.
  4. Most all Daiwa handles will work on the T3 platform. The 1016 spool is a bit better than the stock T3B spool. I've read where some Steez spools will work playing with shims. Zillion cast control caps work on them. (No performance gain) I added a Lexa handle (comes with 2 bearings, you can add 2 more). Added a 5x9x3 bearing under the drive shaft (replace a bushing). Added a 5x8x2.5 bearing to the level wind. Now you have 11 bearings in there.
  5. My T3b replaced a gen2 stx... Arv check your pm's
  6. My understanding is that it has a nicer spool than the Ballistic, a few more bearings (under drive shaft and in knobs). The drive shaft is Aluminum instead of Brass, that's where the majority of the weight loss is. Same body and drag as the Ballistic. At $215 it's a good deal, the Ballistic is a smoking deal at $125 for 95% of the performance of the T3.
  7. I've got 60lb Sunline Fx2 on it and there's no issues with noise or grooving.
  8. The guy from TT doing the test used it on a custom spiral wrapped rod. The combination of the two causes the line to exit the reel at a pretty severe angle (downward). That's where the grooving issue arose. If you have a regular off the shelf rod (90% of us) you will not have an issue. I'm the guy that bought Bass1980's XSL and it's as good if not slightly better caster than my Zillion with orange seals. I also have an HL and it's been just as good. $125 is an AMAZING deal!!!!! (Save a 7:1 for me please).
  9. 16lb sniper here too.
  10. Swap out the split rings to owners and hooks to gammy reg # 4 (front) & 6 trebles. At that point check the suspending.
  11. Powell Diesel 765. $60-70 and a beast.
  12. X3 THEN slide a rattle band over the hub and attach rattles
  13. I saw something about this on in-fisherman. They held the gill covers closed blew in to the crappie's mouth and then threw them quickly into the water (almost like a lateral with something behind it).
  14. Drop shot them. It's in my top 3 DS baits.
  15. I have a buddies that are guides on Champlain and they have been called/contacted several times by fairly big name pro's about going out and pre-fishing for them and asking about the good stuff. None of them ended up doing it because they knew locals/friends fishing the same tournament and didn't want to undercut them. A bit of cash is nice but friends are priceless.
  16. Sniper got me good, jaw still hurts.
  17. I kept joking that we're a freaking Russian ice breaker on national geographic!
  18. Mainebass and I broke ~200 feet of ice and a trolling motor pin but we got out there!
  19. There's a Largemouth in the trailer park pond that was a fin (behind the gills) that looks like a senko(deformed). I've caught it twice and a buddy got her once through the ice. Got a sick smallie from the same mooring a couple times.
  20. FAKE!!!!!!!! Just kidding man, way to go. Was sort of excited to think it was from the "water supply" pond... oh well.
  21. Get that spool and seriously look at the Recon 713, it's a sweet rod for weightless small plastics and tiny cranks.
  22. They absolutely work up here. I'm in Vermont and have had bass 2-4.8lbs eat 6" & 8" Hudds.
  23. Don't forget about the magnetic fields the TM/Electronics put off, they can feel those too and can potentially be overwhelming. But Tom nailed it, if they live in then city (Marina) they are used to the noise.
  24. Welding aluminum CAN weaken it if it's an alloy that needs to be heat treated to (re)gain a certain acceptable strength... Not knowing the alloy and doubtful someone can figure out what alloy it is, I'd say rivet it.
  25. Grey Prodigy is a Daiwa Advantage HSTA varient and the newer black and red one is a scaled back version of the Daiwa Aggrest. Between current models I'd go Citica.
