  1. Carolina Rig on a 2/0 regular offset worm hook. Football jigheads as well
  2. 6" weedless 68 weedless 68 special Perch and Shad colors. These are my standards for similar lakes here in VT. Okuma Guide select, Daiwa DX, irods, and Phenix Recon 796 are great hudd rods. Lexa 300 in 6.2 ratio with 20 Maxima line for reel and line. Cheaper and just as effective would be a Abu 5500 or Shimano Cardiff 300 on a Cabelas Tourney Trail. A used 5500 and sale tourney trail can be had for ~$85
  3. Easy shakers aren't very durable, but man oh man the catch fish. Drop Shot and shakyhead. Similar to the Hag's Tornado, just a bit more slender profile.
  4. 5 Power if you are 3/4 oz.
  5. Yes it does. It has way points and I believe tracks. Just no maps... Navionics for $10 on your smart phone fixes that.
  6. Bottom contact baits, go Champion. 744 or 735 would bemy choice. Moving baits Sierra, Savvy, Fury are fine.
  7. Same build as me.
  8. Daiwa Procyon, Fuego, Ballistic or Lexa. Smoooooooooooth. Great reliability.
  9. The 7'2" H is very similar to a 7' MH SC Avid. It's crisper and lighter feeling though. Great for Jigs and T-Rigs. The 7'2"MHR is a beast for moving single hooks. 7'MLR is a great small crank/Jerk/Spook rod. Played with the 7'4" H and it's a great Frog and Caroling Rig Rod.
  10. I just bought regular Tatula's off the auction site and Amazon for $100-$120 each. Regular Tats not the XT.
  11. If he can get Tatulas for $100, he's crazy not to. I much prefer mine to my Fury, Bucoo, One Threes, Mojos and any Duckett I've used. Blanks on the Tatula is the same as the Zillion.
  12. Phoenix are something to behold ride-wise. Build wise Rangers could survive a bomb blast. Triton, Skeeter, Stratos and Champions are all popular up here.
  13. Order directly from Shimano the 7 and 6 gearset (pinon and drive) are ~$25-$29. Might I recommend you at least get the G series Citica Handle as well (~$15). The E series is thin and the mounting hole tends to deform with hard use. Do the Carbontex drag as well.
  14. 30lb braid is ~8lb diameter. It should be fine on a spinning reel. The leader is to keep the treble hooks from tangling in the braid, it will happen with straight braid.
  15. Use your braid with a 15lb leader (BigGame is $8 for like 800 yards at Wally World). This will keep the trebles from fouling in the braid. I throw my 130 on a 735 Dobyns and 15lb mono and it feels like I am getting close to overloading it.
  16. The 3/4oz weight smashing the glass bead is a probably not helping regardless of braid vs fluoro vs mono in the rocks.
  17. I am up on Champlain where rocks and Zebra Mussels are the rule. I use: 20lb Seaguar Abrazx Main Line. Braid and mono bow in the current, I've seen braid get shredded on Mussels in one cast. 20lb Abrazx is really good in the sharp stuff and sinks, so no bow/float. 17lb Suffix Siege Mono Leader. XT, Big Game, CXX and Maxima are all interchangeable with the Suffix. Again tough line and with mono the leader isn't constantly dragging over the sharp stuff. Flouro to me keeps the bait on the bottom when the mono allows the bait to come off the bottom, like most creatures do. 3/4-1oz Finesse (Mojo) shaped sinker with a Tungsten Ticker Bead (Vike). The thin profile slides through the rocks easier and the Vike bead still gives out that "ticking" sound. I have tried glass and it's ok, but when it cracks and fails it cuts everything off... With your Tungsten weight smacking it, I suspect that also maybe a reason for your break offs. Spro 80lb swivel San Diego Jam Knot to swivel (Flouro) and Trilene Knots on the mono leader. I've lost 7 rigs since May of 2014 with this set up, most due to my laziness and not retying.
  18. Get some Mercury Quicksilver Power Tune and give it a shot and see if that helps the carbs before tearing them out.
  19. I throw that exact bait configuration on a 7'2" H Tatula. It's pretty awesome.
  20. I'd go with: Echomap 73dv Striker 7 Network cable This way you can get maps on one unit, mark a point on it and the point will show up on the GPS only one.
  21. Bone is a great color up here. Loon and perch as well. 130 size all the way.
  22. I've fished both and the Fury is a nicer feeling rod as it's not as tip heavy. A 733, 734 would be a good chatterbait rod.
  23. I'd worry about the strains on the bow/top cap since you are putting a whole lot more strain on the TM mount than a TM would normally put on it. I think one of the cleat based mounts would be better for sure.
  24. Dobyns Fury 735 will work and can double as a frog, Carolina Rig, and jig rod.
