  1. This time of year do Jerkbaits like Pointers, etc play a role? Or are these lakes more flipping and trap oriented?
  2. I just built an NFC IM-807 with the Essex Premium Seat with a Carbon grip from Mudhole. Wow that seat is amazingly comfortable. ( I like ACS, Minimas and SK's too).
  3. St Albans bay. Start at fishing pier and walk out 300 yards. We've been smoking them in there.
  4. Only a glaze on the contact points. More grease=More dirt attracted
  5. Just get a clip on line counter for like $10-12. Really easy to spool backing, braid, topshot, etc.
  6. Find the bait and the fish will be there. If there is current in the lake/river you should take note when you catch them of where they are in relation to the structure and the current. IE current flowing south to north and you are on a hump, did you get them on the front (south) side or on top or on the back (north) side, etc. This year I ran a tournament and my buddies brought in 25lbs (5 of which was a LM) the other 5 SM were from 82ft eating Alewives. Smallies really can be anywhere, it's all about the bait
  7. go to the "Shop" link
  8. St Croix 7ft MHM (Bass X or Mojo) Dobyns Fury or Colt 705
  9. Revos will be as collectable as Kias
  10. There were at least 2 in the Costa on Champlain this year. 194 boats and more than a few were 150-175hp, just 2 tins though. The 2nd day of the Costa on Champ was one of the worst weather days I have ever fished and those brave souls in the Tins did just fine.
  11. As a PS with Garmin... They just bought Lowrance/Navionics, so you might be seeing a combination of their charts being offered in the future. That helps push me (If I were in your shoes) towards Garmin. Garmin's map making capabilities are really easy to use. I'd go EchoMap 73 sv or 93 sv
  12. Bionic blades with the trade in are like $40 during the classic. I have a MH Micro spinning rod. I casts terribly but once the bait is in the water it's fine.
  13. Phil Wood and T9 in all my reels.
  14. Dude... it's Pure Fishing's clearing house. It's completely legit.
  15. get a refurbished Dobyns 795 Fury from Dobyns for $80 shipped. This rod works for S-Wavers, Gantarels, Shine Glides, even Deps 175's. You can even do the line through soft swimbaits by Savage Gear and Optimum with little issue.
  16. That's a tough one man. There are no real rhymes or reasons aside from water temperature as to where they'll be it seems. Even water temperature isn't always a predictor. Up on Champlain on the same day I've seen them in 4-6' weedy bays and near the surface in 40' as well as down in the thermocline (50') in 80'.
  17. Franco and Yudo1 are the new tag team champions of this thread. The 105 or 103 sv reels are amazing and have a ton of versatility. The spool options as well as of hop ups available really allow you to have YOUR own reel.
  18. Haven't missed anymore fish on them vs any other frog. You are fishing them differently than a regular frog, adjust your hookset... ie you have slack in the line on a regular frog and you twitch it in. Sprinkers have no slack and it's a straight retrieve, try not pausing as long before swinging for the fences.
  19. Call Lews and just order some knobs? BPS and ABU knobs fit them as well.
  20. Same can be said of the 806.
  21. I got the Frabill F3 bibs this spring and they worked well all year. I did get the Stormr Typhoon as a Jacket though. That thing is bomber and can be used off the boat too, so I rationalized that expense.
  22. Spinning... The new model Berkley Lightning Rod ($40) with the previous generation Shimano Sienna 2500 ($30). Sienna to Sedona there are veeeeeeery slight differences between them.
  23. I'd be friends with him.
  24. Handle lengths for swimbait rods and flipping are pretty different, that's something you might want to look at before trying to do both with one rod.
