  1. Rule of thumb with them is lighter head, better drift. I love them up here for post spawn fish
  2. They definitely have a great reputation for those. I have a 68Mxf St Croix Legend Xtreme for those jerkbaits. I love that rod.
  3. Ehhhh I wouldn't do jerkbaits unless you're talking about Pointer 128 type. Handle would be kinda long too. Now I will suggest the Evergreen Combat Stick 72MHmf as a rod that could do what you're asking about. I know the specs are similar but you have to fish it to believe it. It'll do Vision 110s up to Shower Blows 125s pretty well.
  4. Geecrack Bellows Craw
  5. Orvis doesn't make junk is about all i got for you. For the price they're going for and the reviews they get, seems like a good buy.
  6. I have the 75 MHHf. Pretty cool rod once I figured it out. It's all graphite.
  7. It's basically the old MOJO Bass with lesser trim and slightly lesser guides. Should "fish" just like a MOJO
  8. This reel is 20 years old and was $200... 140yds of 12lb. 100yds of 16lb 7.4 ounces 7 bearings Multi composite disc drag. Ti Nitride line guide Now look at a Curado M from today. I would call that a benchmark reel. The reel above is the same with more line capacity. I'd say we've been on a plateau with reels for a while. Except maybe the higher end DC reels not much has changed for a while.
  9. I agree something else will fill the $300 hole in the line up
  10. Beast Coast OW Sniper jig Zoom Speedcraw Raid Osakana Slide Killed it this year for me
  11. I find speed cranking on Champlain in February to be exceptionally fruitless. Lots of broken baits from hitting the ice.
  12. I'm going to be Mr Pragmatic Debbie Downer... stick with the SLX and Zillions. I've fished a lot of tournaments and the ratio of boost in performance over what you have/know vs the money spent isn't great. Rods? Totally different beast, go nuts with what suits your needs and desires but reels I'd be perfectly fine running SLX and zillions, Stradics and Kages. Save money for fees, line, terminal and (oddly my favorite) storage that works for you.
  13. They are sort of a hybrid of a rerange and pointer 100 action-wise. Definitely nice baits.
  14. Great for flipping in thick stuff with a soft bottom.
  15. For the 40ft situation mentioned. Heavier head and roll on the bottom
  16. I believe it's a savage gear
  17. Deos Buzzjet or Black Dog Gill first. I like the Spro Rats too but they are a bit larger than what you asked about.
  18. Lighter than 1/2oz footballs? 873 you have is a great compliment to it.
  19. I like 15-20 YZH Or 65lb braid to a long leader
  20. I don't like the feeling of Ci4. Might be in my head but I feel the flex. Solid aluminum if I can get it.
  21. The best goby bait. Rig sideways on a football
  22. Under 100$ each I'd be happy
  23. I just bought a bfs spool for my Fuego CT when I wanted to try bfs. I like it and haven't changed.
  24. It's just an observation about St Croix but it seems the breakage of blanks is almost entirely the new tapers and powers. The Legend Xtreme, Elite, X all use the older tapers/designs and seem to be ok. Bad glue and cheap seats is just being cheap which sucks.
