  1. I have XP in 30lbs on a Sahara 3000 and 50lbs on my Citica. More supple and smoother than PP, definitely quieter going through the guides than PP. It's my favorite braid and it's pretty cheep too!
  2. I played Lax in HS and College AND have sprained my ankles 1/2dozen times each and broke them once each, right one has a steel plate and 5 pins holding together. I was a 6'3" 240lb Attackman, I put a huge amount of torque on my ankles cutting in the VT mud we played in. Seriously go to a Dr. now to find out exactly what you did. Get a McDavid ankle brace and some mole hair (that stuff your trainer puts on you so you don't get blisters. ICE ICE ICE, Icy Hot is junk and does nothing... Wrap it at all times when you are not playing to keep the swelling out. Keep your ankle up as much as possible. To keep the joint loose use your foot to write out the alphabet a couple times a day. After 10 days get on a bike (real or gym) and use a very low gear and spin (don't stop doing the alphabet thing). 4 Advil a couple times a day. Finally... and I am not a peace-nick hippie but go to a "natural" store and get ARNICA Gel (NOT cream). The stuff reduces swelling/bleeding I SWEAR by it. PM me if you want more info or specifics. Good luck and play big!

  4. My PB Smallie came out of the pond behind my mom's condo. The ponds/neighborhood were created in 1991. This old guy that lived in the neighborhood would go to Champlain and catch a bunch of stuff (SM, LM, Rock Bass, P-Seeds, Bullhead) and bring them back in his live-wells and stock the ponds (3 ponds, top one is filled by a spring then over flows to #2 then to the bottom one). 5.25lbs and 25"
  5. I have that exact rod with 50lb PP and a Citica. I was throwing frogs (Spro, Scum, Rage Shad/Toad) with no issues. A great C-Rig and jig rod as well. Caught my PB LM and a 5.09lb SM on it plus a ton of snags, no breakage issues either.

  7. Buy this book: http://www.amazon.com/Orvis-Fly-Fishing-Guide-Tom-Rosenbauer/dp/0941130924 Easy to read and covers everything you'd ever need to know. Equipment: 6wt rod/reel, Double Taper Line, leader assortment (3x-7x). Prince and Hare's Ear Nymphs (I like bead heads), San Juan Worms, Smaller Muddlers, and Woolly Buggers (bead head and not in various colors). This is enough to get you out on the water and successful early in the season.
  8. Drilling tungsten is an exercise in futility as it's as hard or harder than the bits you are using.
  9. I give them to my neighbor's or cousins kids. If the kid get's into it AWESOME, if fishing isn't for them hopefully my gesture made an impression.
  10. New England waters... Mattlure Perch or Sebile Magic Swimmer soft (Blue Gill, white or green halo). ~$40 will get youu two of the Mattlures and a pack of Sebiles.
  11. Keep your profile low (crouch or kneel) and stay back from the water's edge. Their predators come from above so when they see you standing there above them, they are getting sketched out. This applies to all bank/shore fishing (River or Pond). The way the light waves bend when looking through water, they can see a lot more of the shore (you) than you'd imagine.
  12. http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?board=8.0 I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting this for you, but this place should be able to help you a bunch.
  13. I gave my 1st year Shimano Sedona (94ish?) to my buddy 2 years ago and he fishes ~80 days a year with it after I used it for at least that many days a year since I got it. I use a Citica B (early-mid nineties?) as my crankbait reel. Still runs like a top.
  14. Glad to help! My 30 matches up very nicely with a Lamiglas Excel 703, spooled with 6lb Yo Zuri and 10lb PP. Finesse and Rivers are covered very nicely with this set up.
  15. Old Shimano Citica Bantams have 5.0:1 ratios and just need a 3 bearing upgrade to equal the Curado B's. The Cost of a Citica plus the 3 bearing is less than a Curado B. Just food for thought and availability. PM me if you want specifics.
  16. A 5.1lb Smallmouth from VT would score 75.55 points Weird but true...
  17. Bass Pro has Pflueger Supreme XT (gold 2010) in all sizes for ~$70.00 I love mine.
  18. My Brown Fish Honey Hole
  19. Sure is.
  20. Their Facebook page says details will come 1-2 weeks ahead before the start date.
  21. Out on the VT side of Champlain there is an old railroad fill that they have a bike path on now, except one spot where there is a break to allow boats into Mallett's Bay we were C-Rigging back and forth in that break (17-20 fow) slamming big Smallies and getting scared by the big Sheephead when WHAM ! I slam into something big. My buddy (not a very patient fisherman) says its a snag and to, "Cut it." "No way it's sort of moving?!!" The struggle lasted a few moments then we were able to see what it was... a sunken sapling about 8' tall with about 200 Zebra Mussels on it, more snagged baits and hooks than we could count AND an underwater electric cable that was still humming... SNIP!!!! I landed that conglomeration on a Carrot Stick and 50lb braid with no ill effects (to many this is the shocking part).
  22. HAHAHA Lamooooooooooooooile?
  23. i have last years model.it can't be beat. Ditto... Spool it up with 6lb Yo Zuri and 10lb PP on the spare spool. You'll love it.
