  1. I'll go for the topwater or spinnerbait/lipless crankbait bite out of the gate, if the bite isn't there then it's a worm or jig.
  2. Looks like the state is going to open Fenway this year to fans, although, not even close to capacity. Can't wait to see the cost of those tix! Let's just say that you won't be able to blow the trumpet for a while after paying for them. ?
  3. So I had the "tech" out to look at the picture quality and he says: "No need to turn on the TV, I already know the problem. Your equipment is 2 generations old". The tech replaces the equipment, turns on at the hub and whatya know, all HD channels came back crystal clear. This after spending 2 hours on the phone with customer service the day before. 2 hours!? ? That grinds my gears! I mean, seriously, that hurts like a butt cheek on a stick!
  4. Only when it's empty with a note in it and thrown overboard.
  5. I carry my phone but I also have a fixed mount VHF Radio. At least I was advised to go that way.
  6. Reel Grease. Stay away from oils, they tend to drip out.
  7. We started the process in Maine, gonna see how it works back home. My results will be different, I have a 20 y/o and a 17 y/o in my house. Take with a grain of salt.
  8. I hear ya man I hope you find it!
  9. I am getting really disappointed with cable TV these days. Besides the lack of shows for all the channels, I have pretty much lost all HD channels. I simply can't justify paying the money I'm paying for lousy reception. My package has landline phone, cable tv and internet. Just need the internet. This has been brewing for quite a while now but I think it's time to go the stream route. Anyone have suggestions?
  10. And tires?
  11. There's a lot of truth to this statement. There are a lot of people on this site who commit a large chunk of disposable income on gear, boat and accessories to go out and fish and want to be good at it. I tip my hat to those guys who have that time to put into what they like to do. For me, it's a casual sport that I commit only a small portion of my disposable income and that's because I chose to divert more of it to something else. Home and work life tend to take up way more time than I'd like, but I also have responsibilities to my family. I'll have to re-evaluate that when the time comes. Getting skunked is just part of it. I mean no one likes it but I'm sure you had those days where it seemed like every time you made a cast you got a strike or landed a fish...That's a false sense of the sport as well. It just doesn't happen that way. Every thing has a way of leveling out. So when I get skunked, I'm still happy that I at least got some time to myself to do another hobby I like to do. As the great philosopher Homer Simpson used to say: "If you first don't succeed, never try again."
  12. Would I move to a warmer climate...Naaaaahhhhh. Where can you live and have hurricanes in the summer and fall, nor'easters in the winter and heavy rains during the spring...I mean, if you can move and be entertained more than that then sign me up, where do we go? ?
  13. There's a lot of good information here as well as a lot to think about in terms of gear. I've got some time to dial it in, but wanted to thank all who contributed.
  14. Back in 2000 I worked for a construction company based out of Chattanooga, TN. We had a Dallas office and we traveled there for our safety meetings. We always spent a day fishing Tacoma. Very good largemouth and stripe bass fishery. Stripe bass get quite large.
  15. OMG! Thanks for that visual @lo n slo.
  16. Oh man A-Jay, that’s sexy. I was going for rated “R” but that just pushed it right up to the upper channels of the cable box. ? #youdirtymanborninfiftynine Luv it! Consider it done.
  17. I chased this idea, couldn’t find anything that worked for jigs. Like @A-Jay says put it on a trailer, it seems ok. I’m trying to load it in a tube this year and will give it a go.
  18. Wow! I’m glad I took @Columbia Craw as a second language in college. Totally understood that post. Thanks man!
  19. @MassYak85, I noticed on the link I posted that they had stocked some landlocked salmon, you ever tie into one?
  20. Fred, I know I ribbed you about your cheap lure thread but just like those hard bait these will also get’em! I do something similar with silicone skirts and zonker strips. I think you got some winners there!
  21. You can should try a very thin coat epoxy. It fills in the gaps and should come out clear.
  22. Sure why not? I haven’t seen any bass fashion police, and just like your other thread about a black blue jig with a white swim bait, I think it’ll work in any clarity of water. A lot of anglers like to match the trailer to the jig and some do not. There’s no hard and fast rules. If you feel that the combination of colors you are using are going get you the strike then fish it and fish it with conviction. If it doesn’t work...well that’s fishing for that day. Doesn’t mean it won’t work another day. Good luck. ?
  23. Yep I did. #thatfishhitwickedhahd!
  24. Is "doink" technically a fishing term? ?
  25. It's been quite a while since I fished a drop shot and I really can't remember what the strike was like? The closest drop shot technique was using a very similar rig for deep sea fishing a while ago. We were fishing 100' - 150' of water for ground fish and really all you felt was a heavier weight when a fish was on. Granted the gear we were fishing on this guided trip was very stout pool cue and cloths line for fishing line. I'll be using a 6'9 heavy rod with 14# mono (I maybe rethinking that tho). So, what is your experience with the bite: Subtle, aggressive, just a heavy weight?
