I wouldn’t doubt that a spinnerbait would work without a skirt, trailer or any soft plastic attached.

Yes, use any soft plastic you want. One word of caution: be careful of the weight of the plastic you’re using. A spinnerbait’s sweet spot for blade and weight ratio is a small window before it’s over torqued - runs on it’s side. ?
