I am by no means a mechanic, but had a similar problem. I was told that the older engines really don't work with the higher octanes. I was advised to replace with the lowest octane I could get. I changed the gas bulb out as well as the gas lines. Had no problems after that. BTW, mine was a 2 stroke Yamaha if that means anything to you.

A few of other one's my kids picked up on: After hearing and reporting a rumor about a relative or townie friend: "Not trying to stir the pot, but hey, you got a spoon?" In December I found out the company I was working with were slowing down and were getting ready to lay people off. The company I now work for gave me more money to join them. More money = more hours. I said "Nope, I'm good." And got the lower salary. When asked to pick up kitchen trash bags my next time out at the hardware store, I picked up some fairly inexpensive trash bags. When questioned about the trash bags, my reply was: "Why would I spend a lot of money on trash bags that I'm going to be throwing away anyway?" Well, as @Sam would say and then the fight started. "Just one more thing" (trivia here, who said that) Driving behind an older person, I made the comment: "You'd think older people would drive a little faster given the limited amount of time they have left?" So, yes, these get repeated by my kids more than I care to admit. ?

I'm definitely in the minority here, but the ideal spinnerbait for me is a 3/8 oz short arm spinnerbait. Ideally it would be made from .035 thick wire #4 & 5 Colorado or Willow brass blades all interchangeable on a bearing swivel outfitted with a snap. The pearl skirt with a few strands of watermelon black flake on top would be between 32 & 40 strands cut like an 80's mullet haircut. No trailer needed, maybe a white zonker strip tied in, but not imperative.

You're not kidding, I had a snot rocket do that to me. Lemme tell ya, those VMC hooks are sticky sharp. That snot rocket wouldn't calm down and dug the hook in my hand further and further.

My phone started ringing so I decided to soak a T-Rig I just tied on and then answer the phone. Wound up to put the spurs to her. Nothing. Forgot to engage the reel. Answered the phone and looked down at my T-Rig only to find that my knot must not have been very good cuz the T-Rig was gone. Got the double malocchio.
