  1. It's up to us to bring back old technology...LOL...Good deal man
  2. I hate to admit this because it is old school, but the one thing I like about my Garmin is that is has a flasher option. I can switch over quick enough to see if fish are present. I know what you're thinking, I'm stuck in the 80's...?
  3. Fast and extra fast for me is really effective on a hook set with thicker wired hooks. The ned has a thin wire I would use more of a mod-fast. Better for casting as well IMHO.
  4. Can't agree more @J Francho
  5. I guess it doesn't matter...I do like your suggestion though, unless one would opt for more of a saltwater vessel?
  6. I'm assuming you're fishing Lake Winnipesaukee?
  7. I like it! Good luck.
  8. I'm not a guide, nor do I have any desire to be one, but have a tremendous amount of respect for those who do. Anyway, I work for a commercial construction corporation and tipping to me is like a holiday bonus. I don't expect one but really do appreciate getting one. The guides I tipped in the past expressed appreciation which made me feel good. 20% is starters for me.
  9. Usually black heads for darker dressings and white for baitfish type presentations. Can't see spending extra money for something that just gets lost.
  10. I thought I heard the Tuna bite was picking up. This 97"er was caught not far from me. Man I wish I had the right tackle and boat for this?
  11. This thread seamed to have stood the test of time. Started in 2010, came back to life in 2017 again in 2021. For a $1.00 spinnerbait. ?
  12. I would think you would try to do both, charting off the water and recon on the water, wouldn't you?
  13. I personally like a fast action rod from a hook set standpoint. What I find is that rod action vary from 1 rod manufacturer to the other. My opinion anyway. The rod I mentioned is a fast action rod, but compared to a St Croix I built a while ago, it acts more like a med-fast, maybe a little stiffer than that.
  14. I love mine
  15. If they’re that far down would it be better vertically fishing for them? Maybe squid jigging a spoon?
  16. It’s hard to do electrical work with a fishing rod in your hands. ? I’ve seen you work. Haha
  17. Why not just go buy another mail box? Put it on your credit card, wait a month to see if the new box works? ? If it does work then go back to buy the zip ties that @12poundbass suggested.
  18. Never thought of it...it's a good idea.
  19. Never even entered my mind...all good mi amigo
  20. ROFL! My fingers are crossed for ya!
  21. DIY rod holder, ?
  22. It’s been a while since I did a charter, but it was a ground fishing charter out of Kennebunkport. We went out of the Kennebunk River and went to Jeffrey’s ledge and caught cod, haddock, pollock, cusk and I think even a wolffish. The captain had a rod and real ready in case we had an occasional shark swim by. Mako and blue are the usual ones in that area with great whites making their presence up here the past few years. It was a fun trip none the less. Striper and blue fishing is a totally different technique than ground fishing so that is done by guides who strictly target them. You’re really gonna enjoy that trip for sure. I’m mostly ground fishing up here in Maine but do switch over to striper fish when the seas get amped up. Yesterday was really lumpy out there and we turned around when we started seeing whitecaps. Went back into the bay and had fun with schoolie stripers. Good luck!
  23. This happened about 15 miles south of me yesterday. https://www.necn.com/news/local/shark-spotted-feeding-on-whale-carcass-off-maine-coast/2506450/ Waters have been warm lately. Usually they don’t come that closed to shore up here.
  24. My water heater at my home in Maine is the same way. I went to replace the anode rod and found the hot and cold water lines soldered. Oh well, when the house is empty this fall I’ll end up replacing it then. LMAO! Are you sure you’re not tapped? ?

True story! People forget that at 1 time last year back in April that the futures of oil closed in a negative because of too much supply. THERE WAS TOO MUCH SUPPLY! Don’t tell me in 1 year we’re demanding that much? I don’t believe it.
