  1. My friend makes apple pie. Usually have it at a Super Bowl party. Yep, that's usually an Uber ride home.
  2. I remember a long time ago reading an article a Zell Rowland was explaining how he would cup the blades more. His technique was to use something like the diameter of a BIC pen. Ya know, I don't even know if those pens are still being made?
  3. They are really nice reels, aren’t they? I’m impressed so far.
  4. Cool, a new adult drinking game. ?
  5. That’s an Olympic event this year, isn’t it? ?
  6. I have 2 Fuego rods that I'm using for saltwater and I actually went a little cheaper that the Fuego baitcasters and have been using CC80H reels thinking that they'd get trashed in the saltwater conditions. Very impressed with these reels. @ChrisD46, I can only imagine what those Fuego reels must fish like. Good luck man.
  7. That's almost too nice to take out
  8. Gotta love the Yankee/Sox games. Yankees stole one yesterday. The Sox return the favor today. The whole series this weekend was just incredible.
  9. Took a boat ride to the port yesterday. There are 4 - 250hp mercs on it.
  10. Beauties for sure @Mr. Aquarium! Sounds like a great day. My son and I had a guest on my boat last Friday. Had a great time. Unfortunately our trip got cut short with t-storms that rolled in. My son got a PB cod all of 24”. The bucktail jig was really buttoned in and I had a hard time getting it out so no weight was taken. Just wanted to get it back in the water. Plenty of pollock. At 1 point there were 4 caught right in a row. Couldn’t get your bucktail in the water fast enough. Matter of fact a short pollock was caught by my buddy and then his rod doubled over. A sea raven decided to join the party. Ended up with the pollock and sea raven on the same hook. Sea raven are one ugly fish. My buddy also caught a cunner. At first I thought it was a silver hake but later found out it was a cunner. The sea raven and cunner were both firsts for the boat. All but the cod - 10 fish total - were caught on a new spot I charted over the winter. Glad the cunner revealed its location. They usually mix in with tautog. Togs are on my bucket list this year. We were heading over to a hump to striper fish but the t-storm threat put an end to our day.
  11. All good @islandbass!
  12. @BassWhole!, thank you for your input. I have no doubt that you are far more experienced at this than I. This is my first year fishing this way and so far I have no complaints with the success I’ve been having to date. My homework over the winter has been paying off with the exception of this issue. Asking questions like this to this community has proven to be a valuable resource. Thanks again for your input.
  13. I guess this means I do have a low IQ….?…all good sooner. Actually back sea bass is my target but have been catch cod, pollock, haddock. Which are all very tasty. ? What’s happening is when I drop my line out the current is putting a bow in it. I’m sending down a 4 oz bank sinker and a 1/4 oz jig on a dropper loop and most of my spool is out at this point.
  14. You’re good, man! ?
  15. Really!? ?
  16. Meanwhile, we had a hurricane turned tropical storm and a tornado touch down a state south of us. Crazy!
  17. Boom, I’m stupid, you sure you want to go fishing with me? Seriously, love the data. Thank you
  18. Seriously? Memorial Day weekend rained. Couldn’t launch the boat. July 4th weekend, rained all 3 days. My son and I went out on day 2. The bay was great, got past timber island and then I’m going up waves and couldn’t see in front of me for like 20 seconds until I got back down the wave. Turned around and fished the bay. If I can’t see in front of me, Imagine a big@ss trawler coming at you a mile or 2 out and you can’t see because of the waves! I think I turned into the “I’m getting too old” zone. ?
  19. @Boomstick, what thread was that? Would love to take it in! Always appreciate your help bud
  20. I can honestly say that I never had luck with large poppers. Popper fishing is what got me into bass fishing. My best was a Zell Rowland signature Pop-R in 1/4 oz. Best retrieve was a semi-slack line and you snapped your rod. The line slapping the water was louder than the pop of the lure. The lure should sound just like a bluegill or other sunfish sucking down a mayfly. Like you take your tongue and afix to the roof of your mouth and open your mouth to “pop” it. The least amount of sound you can make was more effective
  21. Very happy with Garmin so far.
  22. I can honestly say that I miss fly fishing Learned in Colorado. Just may have to make my way out there again
  23. We’ve had waaay too much rain this summer. I have mushrooms in the yard already and just had to pull the plug on the pool for a couple of hours to drain a few inches because it was over flowing. It really hasn’t been a typical New England summer, that’s for sure. How’s your summer?
