  1. I personally love the game, college, minors, pro. Don't really care about the business side and really tune it out, especially when you hear that a 23 y/o player turns down a $350mil contract offer. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/juan-soto-reportedly-rejected-nationals-350-million-extension-before-mlb-lockout-heres-why-hes-worth-more/ The business side is getting out of hand and really, it's taking away from the kids. These games - at least at Fenway Park - are set up so that the average family of 4 can't go see a game without giving up their 401K plan. It's a shame, because they lost the younger audience and player numbers from little league on up is way down. One year, my town was contemplating on not having a baseball LL season and we used to be a baseball town.
  2. French blades below the main willow...interesting. With added blades come more drag and less thump, but french blades being so flat, that may just add thump. What your opinion fin?
  3. Agree with the first 2 replies. I actually went the "cheap" disposable reels way. After every outing I really rinse both reels and rods (2, 1 for my son and I) with a garden hose, towel dry and then use an 18V leaf blower to really get the reels dry. So far I'm coming up to my 5th season. Sand, is just a nuisance, I actually end up taking my reels apart and really cleaning the sand out of them. I know my way isn't going to make my reels bullet proof, but if I can delay the time I dispose and replace my reels, then I'm all for it.
  4. Jig Man, I'll have to pick your brain one of these days.
  5. So, what do you think you should do? If you plan on using the loop knot, then you need to fill that gap up some how? I suggested adding a "dummy" knot to fill the gap, my next suggestion is may be thicker line? 17 lb mono? Maybe? BTW: Be careful when trying to use pliers or a vice on the hook eye, they tend to break under compression.
  6. I get it buddy…was just joking i was out of fishing for at least 5 years due to family commitments Sorry bud
  7. Agree. Considering that the lockout happened on December 2nd and he owners and players knew it was coming since last season and neither side was proactive enough to be ready on December 3rd. They waited until after the Superbowl to do anything.
  8. Tom, I'm assuming that the paint in the hook eye will "fray" ... I guess the word would be ... the line wrapped around the line tie causing a breakage?
  9. I'm assuming because of the current lockout?
  10. He locked up a couple of threads last week and got free tix from bass resource..
  11. Unplowed main roads can be a bit dicey.
  12. Tie a clinch knot: Cut the main line leaving the clinch knot and slide over to the gap: Now tie your main line on and go fishing.
  13. Tie a heavier test mono and cut it so only 2 small tag ends show. Slide over to the gab and now tie your main line to the hook. Something I did on the water in a pinch.
  14. I started powder painting this winter, so I'm certainly no pro at this. I started out at 350* for 15 min. I like the results, but was recommended to do 300* for 20 min. I actually like the longer time/lower temp. You will find out that the temp of the jig head prior to dipping in powder paint is really the key to it, IMO. My first powder paint jigs: Good luck.
  15. Oh, get on wichya! Honestly glad you made it. How bad was it? I was out and didn't think it was that bad. My jeep loves that stuff tho.
  16. I was thinking the same way when I first saw this post. If I may add to your list @slonezp: @Nitrofreak @bilgerat @Redlinerobert @Raider Nation Fisher And:
  17. I remember during the winter I'd get cabin fever and would strip my reels down, take apert and really clean them up. Once I saw the slightest amount of soft water I'd go out and buy new line and spool up. The very first chance I'd get at ice out I'd go to the local pond with new gear, clean rod and reel and the 'I can't wait to try this" lure! I'd wind up and make that long awaited cast... Birds nest...Forgot to adjust the spool tension knob and brake! Couldn't tell you how many years in a row I did that!
  18. The year I was born...
  19. Sounds like you have more confidence n a swim jig, why not stay with a swim jig in the color preference you like? Me, I keep it pretty simple, clear days and clear water = white or white and pick your favorite secondary color. Overcast/dark skies w/clear or dark waters - a dark wine color or black or black with pick you favorite secondary color.
  20. ^9 Not sure why I like this, but Amy Lee's voice is incredible.
  21. You Treky...
  22. Well, this group won't be bored, we'll definitely have a lot of laughs, that's for sure.
  23. Oh boy, can I get on the payroll on this project?
