Glad I'm in the same boat with you and 3 others BR guys, we won't be bored and we'll eat well...
Looks great, man. Once my BP issues hold steady, I'll be trying this one!
5'6 baitcaster for me. I like a soft tip for this technique as well. The short rod is how I learned it and I can't take the dog for a walk with longer rods for whatever reason.
It was 15* this morning when I left at 6:30. Mid-60*'s and rain by Sunday. Matter of fact, rain Monday & Tuesday. May have to fish an ice-out on Wednesday.
Overnight lows for the next 10 days will be upper 20*'s and 30*'s. Definitely will take that.
Looks like we'll have 1 more day of cold weather and then we start an accent to a warmer trend.
60*'s on Sunday with rain. That will certainly open things up.
Over night lows look real promising for an early spring...I hope

For this Italian American, I'm shrimp scampi all the way. Made at home so I can control the amount of butter and olive oil.
Another fav is shrimp and risotto with steamed veg.
Mine came in about a week ago and I haven't even looked at it yet. Kind of odd though, I couldn't tell you the last time I purchased from BPS/Cabelas. I know it was a few years before the merger. However long that was?
Hey man, not sure what you're trying to do, although I think I have a mental picture of it.
See if one of these works for you:

Then take a drill to it and drill holes to let the water weep out
And you wont need a drill to drill out
Much easier to cut/fit and you wont need a drill to drill out
