  1. You sound skeptical
  2. Stop fooling around @Pat Brown and stick with the OP subject
  3. Mine sits out in the bay all summer 24/7 The Garmin I have in it is going on 5 years
  4. I guess we’re both “snappaheads” I have nothing against Berkley, I like a lot of their products especially in the salt world. But Vanish was a quick 3 fastballs and take a piece of pine
  5. I remember when Vanish line came out and I spooled it up. What a nightmare 4 casts. I think I used it for the weed whacker EDIT spelling correction
  6. Awesome man! Right now I can’t even catch a cold, I’ll be tapping your shoulder for advice at ice out Glad you’re on the board Mike John BTW, looks like it was a beautiful day you got to fish in
  7. We're not looking at any rain or snow and looking at the 10 day is around 32* (avg) for a high and 20* (avg) for a low? That's not terrible, I'll take that in January for New England
  8. Hahaha...it's a creepy feeling, isn't it Glad you made it back safe
  9. @Pat Brown, totally agree. That day I got caught in fog, I had my head down fishing. Looked up with zero disability. It kind gave me a disoriented feeling. Again, I had GPS and current. The current was pushing me towards shore, so I came to a sense of direction. the only thing left is navigating the 3 mile back to the mooring. Which was dicey bc I had no idea who else got caught in the fog. The last thing I needed is an accident. You really need to keep your wits and calmness every time out
  10. I hate to admit this, but I don’t think I’ve ever back reeled Maybe a saltwater thing but I thought the goal was to get the fish in as fast as possible and avoid prolong stress to the fish? Does back reeling have you playing the fish longer? No clue … Take a cab
  11. Well, having goals is what drives us on the daily. You should at least take away that YOU know that DD lives there and is only a cast away. The last thing I think you should do is calibrate you scale, I am almost positive that it's 0,88 lbs off I'm glad you have a friend on here who provides that positivity for you. I personally think it's rare, so that's a really nice support system you have. Either way bud, again, I'm happy for you. John
  12. A 9 lb 12 oz is one heck of a memory even without pics. Cheer up buddy, I’m certainly happy that you caught that fish I spooled some reels yesterday, a 9.12 oz fish would have been thrilling for this iced out angler Wanna trade? Hahaha
  13. Welcome to bass resource. I’m a few miles north of you
  14. OH NOOOOO! @AlabamaSpothunter, that’s awful! Hope you get it back. I’ll keep my fingers crossed
  15. Sorry posted on the wrong thread
  16. I use it for slower, more vertical presentations. I have eye issues so the brighter line is easier for me to see if there's any slight line tick
  17. Nice idea @GRiver I can get you on Maine ocean fish if you're up my way
  18. Ding ding ding, we have a winner
  19. Happy birthday @papajoe222. My daughter lives just minutes away from BPS so I get them twice a year. Coincidentally, my daughters birthday is right around yours. EDIT: I probably should have waited 1 more day
  20. Glad you made it back safe and glad no one else on the water was hurt I got caught out in the ocean and was only about a half mile from shore. When the fog rolled in I couldn't see shore nor did I know which direction to go. Thankfully electronics navigated me back. There was zero visibility so putting the boat on plane was not a safe option for me. I will say that's it's true, you really lose all sense of direction in those conditions. Anyway, I wasn't going to post here but that post caught my eye.
  21. Hey @Pafisher, welcome aboard! All good advice here but switching out lines can get pricey. If you are really set on braid with an FC leader, then the advice @LCG gave you to strip back some mono and tie the braid and use the mono backing. Otherwise the cost to add braid to your particular reel would definitely be an expense. If you find that the braid/FC switch is too expensive then strip off 100 - 150 ft of mono and blood knot/double uni knot/Albright knot more on. it would be the cheaper route. Grab some line conditioner while you're at it
  22. Love the post! Totally agree that bass are resilient, no doubt, but I do think they get sluggish and don't feed as much in both of the seasons you mentioned. I was merely sticking with the theme of the thread. If underwater current would help usher in nutrients would that not help bait fish feed more and thus make bass more active? What about underwater current, does that not take the thermocline away? I have no idea, I'm not a marine biologist, but it does make me wonder. No worries about staying away from shad, we don't have them up here Well, kind of a lie, we have menhaden in our ocean
  23. I fished a lot of smaller bodies of water (man made) that were/are stagnant during the mid - late summer months. I often wonder if those bodies would benefit from any type of underwater current which ushers in nutrients - not to mention O2 from an external source? Oh well just a thought
  24. Or companies that are now out of business
