  1. Incredible, Cadman! NUFF SAID!
  2. We're just starting to ice out, but last year we got flooding conditions around this time and iced out all our waters as well as providing warmer waters to quickly activate the bass to the seasonal pattern you've posted here. We'll see what happens this year.
  3. That was awesome. 4lb test? Hokie smokes! Congrats on your day!
  4. They all look great Bone-Headjig. I've a lot of success with that first one. As far as strand count, you didn't mention what you have on these, but a higher strand count will slow the ROF. In my opinion, I like a higher strand count to start with. You can always cut the strands if need be to get the jig to fall faster. Good luck with them.
  5. Hope this helps Crankhead, page 5 will get you started anyway. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/Content/downloads/sizing_chart.pdf
  6. Why not make a few prototype colors and present those and you can tweak as you go?
  7. I only make custom lures for friends, but I design additions to existing homes which in a sense is the same. JF is spot on about digging deep. I try to at least set up 2 initial meetings. The first is a meet and greet, get to know the person and then slide into what the customer is looking for. This initial meeting will only be about a 10-20 minute meeting. I'll then go back and sketch something up and will write down a series of questions or thoughts I have while doing the sketch. This will become the document I use for our next meeting agenda where I'll be able to at least extract 75% of the needs and wants from that customer. The 2 meetings may sound like a prolonged process, but at least you can get a foundation before you start putting in the bells and whistles which will take their ideas and expectations to the next level. Unfortunately, custom doesn't mean generic.
  8. Just went by the Res along Rte 128 in Waltham, and a section on the north end is iced out. Need some more warmer temps and rain to help it along. Today's temps went from 57* to 35* and very windy.
  9. Jig and Pig for cold water bassn
  10. Looks like the topwater tourney will have to start in June...LOL
  11. Yeah, it sounds like they retreated. Even if the water stayed warm, the bite would have been tougher because of the muddy water, but they still would be catchable. If you can reach them on the same channels but in deeper water and hopefully near some cover or structure, you may be back in business. JMHO
  12. With the warmer temps this past weekend and steady rain last night I can see grass again. I went by a couple of lakes and ponds in Canton this morning and only saw 1 small section in a small pond that was opening up. Anyone seeing any soft water?
  13. Some props like the skitter prop will dive to about a foot creating a little bubble trail in the water which can be deadly. You can make that same prop walk a little by throwing slack in the line, but, again, like all have said here, let the fish tell you what they want.
  14. I was thinking the opposite, you fared better than I did...LOL
  15. I take off the split ring on spinnerbaits and install a snap which allows me to change blades quicker. Other than that, I don't use them.
  16. Bending the prop towards the front will allow you work it slower almost like a popper. Just be carefull tho, I'm sure you know what happens when you keep bending aluminum back & forth.
  17. Here ypu go http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/content/make_spinnerbaits.htm
  18. I personally rig it the second way. I think it's easier for the claws to flip up under water giving the bait a little more action. Like grimlin said there is no right or wrong way tho. Dee Thomas will tell you the 1st way and Denny Brauer will say the second way, so who would you want to argue with? LOL.
  19. Looks great GMAN, the paint job came out very nice. Can't tell from the pic, but that looks like a quad wing blade? You mind posting a side image? With that head and blade config, it looks like it will plane up to the surface very nicely for you. Good luck with it.
  20. My house was built in the 1950's. the brand new house I was born in was built in the 1960's. All the plumbing joints was copper that was soldered with a lead alloy solder. Before then, all plumbing joints were soldered with a lead alloy solder. It was only until the mid-80's that they found some cases attributed to kids with neurological problems with lead based paints. That was attributed to kids biting on things like window sills. They continued to solder plumbing joints with lead based solder. Last weekend I had to so a repair to my home and went to my local hardware store for solder and they still sell a 80-20% lead based solder. The paint in use today is NOT lead based paint which caused the uproar back 20 years ago, but yet we can make plumbing repairs to our home with lead based products? So now where back to fishing and the wildlife. Yes they found that lead sinkers have an adverse affect on water fowl and we are trying to go from lead sinkers to alternative sources, but is ALL lead products that bad? I think we need to analyze this a bit more. Just MHO.
  21. I wouldn't have a problem with banning only lead sinkers as ME & NH do, but to ban jigs with an open ended definition is completely another thing. The MA CMR definition of a lead jig can be interpreted to mean that you can't use spinnerbaits and buzzbaits as well. Then again, last year they wanted to ban ALL lead, at least this year they whittled it down a bit. Who knows what really will be implemented.
  22. It's pretty sad that the Supreme price is quickly taking over the Regular price...
  23. Thanks for the information TRYTOFISH.
