  1. I have to agree with cadman. I don't sell but I give away to friends. If they like it and catch something with it, then it's an accomplishment from a personal standpoint. I make mostly for myself. I get a real sense of satisfaction when my lures catches fish. I don't post my lures here b/c my lures are kinda drab that appeal to the fish I catch here in the northeast and not to fisherman (my opin only), but I really enjoy lure building. You just have to make a decision as to what you want to do. I'm sure guys like cadman, GMAN, BIG M, Whittler, Fish Whitter, CCP, BoneheadJig, Vodkaman and I know I'm missing a whole host of others, get a ton of satisfaction by showcasing their lures here, and they should. They are extraordinary builders and these guys should feel proud of the work they produce and show us. It really is an honor to see the works of art here.
  2. OMG! Totally forgot about these combo's. Haven't used them since the late 90's! Thanks for the reminder.
  3. That's interesting. I tend to agree with chris and it sounds like the bait itself isn't sitting right in the water (tail down). I actually had a problem with a dog walker where the bait has 2 chambers and the weight got stuck in the chamber closest toward the front and wouldn't walk. I ended up fixing it, but for a lure not to work is frustrating. The bait should sit at like a 45* angle tail in the water check that. As far as getting a new prop (for GrizzerGreen and vegas79) you can get replacements at Janns Netcraft. They have a parts sizing chart in PDF format that you can match the old for the new. If you have any problems locating the chart, send a PM to me and I will help you out. Is the prop separated by 2 beads?
  4. Very nice BIG M. Hard to pic a fav out of those.
  5. Bass_Akwards, you may want to read the OP again.
  6. tritz18, Don't be afraid to give GMAN a PM. He's a super guy and I'm sure he will help with any of your questions
  7. Try being a little more erratic with the bait. Stop & go: Try 4 cranks & stop then count to 2 or 3 or 4 or more before you start again. Maybe it's 5 cranks or 3 cranks... you get the picture. I use this presentation a lot. Twitch the rod tip: Do exactly how you retrieved, but twitch the rod tip. This will make the blade(s) flutter a little and the shirt to flare out. Sometimes it's just enough to trigger a strike. Lastly, downsize 1 blade size or even a 1/2 blade size and reel as fast as you can. Even if the bait comes out of the water and the blades clang each other. I can honestly tell you that I read about this a couple of years ago and totally dismissed it as hog wash. Last season I couldn't catch a cold one day and decided to try it. I went from fishless to about 4 or 5 in 1 hour. I actually missed 2 because I was cranking so fast I didn't feel the bite...LOL Hope this helps and good luck out there.
  8. Very nice! I'm not gonna comment on the pic issue, I'm the wrong person for that. I know NateFollmer and JFrancho are into it tho. Hopefully they catch this thread or maybe you can PM them. Good luck with those jigs!
  9. Those came out very nice. Like cadman said, you certainly have the color spectrum covered. Well done, keep up the good work!
  10. The book on clear water spinnerbaits is nickel willows with a transluscent skirt, but, like so many others here have said, the fish don't read the same book...LOL I've had luck with a pearl skirt and gold colorado or a gold willow. I've never had much luck with nickel blades, but up here we have more of a bluegill and perch forage base, hence the gold blades (for me anyways). I think that the added flash from a nickel blade can really turn off fish. Sometimes a white skirt with a white blade will fool them. Just go thru a process of elimination and find out what works that day. The other thing is presentation. How were you presenting your spinnerbait?
  11. She's a doll! Congrats!
  12. I put some fishing gear in my truck last weekend when it was in the low 70*'s looking to get out for a few hours this week. Today we're expected 3-5" of the white stuff...That's New England. Hey Grey Wolf, congrats on your first catch of the season!
  13. I'm sure it was a lil cold too!
  14. Just got a few non-tox jigs from him. Also just got a lot of soft water as well, guess what I'll be doing with those jigs? ;D
  15. This past weekend must have helped your waters along up there GT. After Friday, there was a lot of open water in my area.
  16. LMAO...Grundle, Jig...Goodluck.
  17. Uncle Leo is dead on (assuming you're referring to a baitcaster). Bearings are used to reduce friction between moving parts and decreases the chances from becoming worn. Depending on the reel manufacturer, a basic reel will have 2 bearings (maybe more) will be used for the spool shaft, 2 sometimes 3 for the crank shaft (1 would be the one-way bearing), and 2 for levelwind system. Any reel would overurn without all the components Uncle Leo mentioned.
  18. That's awesome! It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Congrats GMAN!
  19. Almost sounds like a modified diamond jig or even like some kind of buzzbait head. Just a guess? Basslover12345, it sounds like you've seen something that you want to modify, do you remeber what it was?
  20. I totally agree with Bassin_Fin@tic. I switch out the split ring on the rear blade bearing and add a snap which allows me to switch blades for different presentations. Good post and point you made Bassin_Fin@tic.
  21. I agree with bass or bass. My father is 72 and to be honest we never get into those conversations. One day before the super bowl he mentioned to me that he as going shopping for a wide screen LED to watch the super bowl on. His exact words were: "I'm around for 20 more years, I may as well have some fun before I die". Can't argue with that logic. You have no problem.
  22. I switch between 1/4oz and 1/2oz. 1/4oz is great for staying high in the water column at a slow retrieve and is ideal around shallow water. 1/2oz is great for deeper fishing and for fishing in a moderate wind.
  23. The sign for me was when I washed my hair in the shower one summer and the water stung my head because of a sun burn. :'( Time for hair club for men...
  24. Wel it sounds like you ended up having a productive week. That's great! Summer is right around the corner, I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to enjoy it. Good luck on the water this year.
  25. Is that a nice way of saying "jackass"? j/k ;D Not at all...LOL...He posted another doom and gloom thread not too long ago and I posted a pic of eeyore. I'll have to find that thread. EDIT: here it is http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1298907638 lynyrdsky1 is a great kid. I feel really bad that he came to Boston for about 4 days working a convention and I was unable to meet up with him.
