  1. I'll use the same as I've been using since iceout. 1/2 oz jigs and spinnerbaits in spring and fall (smaller during summer months), tubes, buzzbaits, dog walkers, worms. Hopefully A-Jays set-up he posted on a jig thread. Looks SAHWEET!
  2. WOW! Nicely done. All came out great, but I especially like that lipless.
  3. Awesome BIG M!
  4. I do match (for whatever reason) all the time, however, I will use 2 different colors if I'm swimming a jig on occasions. It's a good question, but if I happen to be on the water and ran out of a matching trailer, I would add something similar...i.e. dark trailer on a dark colored jig. Whatever I think the bass can see at different water levels, clarity and/or sky conditions. Why, did the Jig Fashion police show up on your fishing trip?
  5. What part of the Cape are you going to?
  6. Been pitching tubes and jigs with twin tail grubs with a lot of success...so far
  7. Looks awesome BBM! You're certainly hooked now. Keep up the good work.
  8. So New England style reins supreme! Let's talk viscosity: Thin - Medium - Thick - Really Thick? I'm a medium guy, used to be a thick and creamy chowder head, but in Maine, they have generally serve it soup thin, so I went (make it) in the middle. How about you guys,
  9. Nahhh! Being sorry would be posting my spinnerbait with 2 blades on an interlocking clevis system (no rear blade on a swivel) made with a tungsten weight, red bead and treble hook with the bottom facing down hook removed. That will get some laughs...as well as some bass...LOL
  10. NIce set-up A-Jay! I'll have to try that one out.
  11. It's a double edged sword, Rhino. There are folks who won't take the warnings very seriously and they are the one's who are, usually, younger than you and I, who think that they are larger than life and don't have much to lose. There are folks who will drive on RTE 128 @ 30 miles an hour when we have flurries of snow and sun and hang on every warning that is heard on the radio or television. You also have folks who never experienced New England weather all together. So what do you do? Do you have the media peeps get excited about what's coming, what to do, how to prepare etc. and cover all walks of life mentioned above or be nonchalant about the storm? You and I have lived through these events, but there are a lot of peeps who haven't experienced enough of them or none of them at all. So the double edge sword is that we jump up and down for "the sky is falling" hype or "where the heck was the warning, you boneheads!". I say, hype it up and cover all walks of life and if you don't think it's gonna be that bad....shut off the radio or television and don't listen to it.
  12. Maybe the folks who forecast these events get a little too excited, but I'd rather have more information than less. We tend to be near sighted and remember the blunders, but back in '91 when the Perfect Storm hit and '78 when we got a "little" snow, we didn't have near the media coverage, nor the warnings. So give me all the 411 you can give, even if some of it is useless. Grundle, after reading your post, it looks like you've been sitting on the lawn chair for a while now...
  13. Looks awesome! I can't tell if the gill plate is carved then painted or is it just painted? Either way, it looks great.
  14. Like em all BIG M, variety is the spice of life...would use em all! Thanks for sharing.
  15. I really doubt thet you'll be able to use a 5/6 on most bass flies or even weighted clousers, panfish flies and woolly Buggers you def can. 5/6 weight rods are great for hook sized flies from about a 10 on down. 8/9 weight rods you can go up to about a size 1 or 2, I'll have to look that up and re-post on this thread.
  16. Supposedly a tropical storm by the time it makes it's way up here...I hope! Good luck and be safe to you all as well.
  17. Great question and thread. I never really thought about it before, but I do know one thing...The bait monkey would be P.O'd if i couldn't fish.

    Tubes?

Looking for a new hobby this winter, and have had great success this year with tubes. I want to start out by making some in a couple of different colors this year, any one have any experience I can PM for some 411?
  19. Good stuff ABLE2, thanks for sharing. I'll have to give one of your ideas a try.
  20. Not sure if the volunteers have already been selected, anyone know?
  21. Hokey Smokes, you scored tix! That's awesome A-Jay, I'm very happy for you! Let me know when you land in Boston, maybe we can meet up.
  22. Man, I never got into the chatter bait craze. I thought it was gonna be some type of "fad" lure that would fade out, but it sounds like I'm mising out on a great tool. I'll have to get one and try it out!
  23. I tend use between 40 & 50 strands for my jigs, depending on which one I'm making or how much I want to affect the ROF. My tabs (and I don't know if there is a standard) are 20 strands per tab. So between 2 - 3 tabs.
