  1. WOW, sweet fish! Congrats on a fine catch!
  2. I fish for stripers in the bay at Kennebunkport, bluegill fishing with my 5 wt flyrod and trick or treat fish with spinners.
  3. Sam, could you PM a pic of that, I don't want to hijack this thread, but I am interested in viewing this.
  4. Here's a simple way I t-rig a tube: Sinker on the line followed by a swivel. Tie the line to the hook and install the tube's nose as you would a worm. Install the free side of the swivel over the hook barb and pull the line tight. Finish rigging the tube: The finished bait:
  5. You betchya. I find that nickel blades don't produce nearly as much as gold blades. The reason being, in my mind atleast is, we don't have a shad population and I think the bright flash coming from a nickel blade tends to spook the fish. I do use them and have had success, don't get me wrong, but a gold blade would be my first choice followed by a painted white or flourescent orange blade in low light conditions. Right now the flourescent orange has been money, kind of like the "shock" color of yesteryear...LOL My spinnerbaits have a snap instead of a split ring attached to the bearing, so I can switch blade sizes, shapes and colors quickly instead of switching skirt colors which can be a bit more time consuming. I'll often run through a process of elimination to find which blade the fish prefer.
  6. All great replies IMHO. I would only add 2 things: The more appendages in a bait the more air resistance is applied during a cast. You can out cast a T-rigged soft stickbait to a whacky rigged one. As I learned from Uncle Homer, leave your bait hanging about 6 inches longer prior to casting than you normally do and you'll notice extra distance in your cast.
  7. I agree with Bluebasser for the most part that vibration of a lure will be felt by a bass more so than anything. I also subscribe to the solid color skirt theory in low light conditions as well...solid black, solid blue, solid chartreuse, solid white... Well you get the picture. Use the vibration to your advantage and let the bass home in on the sillouette of the solid colored lure.
  8. You made a great post! Head for the next breakline near deep water look for structure or even better, stucture on structure or cover on structure.
  9. She outfished ya again, huh A-Jay! HOKIE SMOKES, NICE HAWG MRS. A-JAY! LOL Great report and congrats to your wife and both of you for spending memorable time like that.
  10. All good advice, what's the water temps and depth?
  11. Thx for the heads up, I need a few things, so I'll ckeck DSG out tomorrow on my way home from work.
  12. Working all weekend...good luck out there guys
  13. Happy B-day Mike
  14. Welcome to the community! Great to hear that you're getting your son into it at very early age. I think mine was 4 when he started to learn...he's 7 now and I hope to keep him interested in the sport for years to come.
  15. Leave it to you to pass on advice like this...You're good!
  16. IMHO thicker wire really kills the thump transmitted back to your rod. Thin wire really transmits vibration but gets mangled too fast, but will catch a boatload of fish, you just need an inventory of spinnerbaits...LOL...I'd say in the middle road when it comes to wire.
  17. SK Shim E Stik is my personal fav - same stick IMHO eh?
  18. As MaineBassFishin and SirSnook mention, tooth past. I haven't used the brasso as SirSnook posted but I am gonna try it out. Thank SirSnoom I've been using Bar Keepers Friend on cranks and spinner blades for stubborn spots. Works like a champ.
  19. Jannsnetcraft.com. Stay away from .051" wire, that is some tough stuff to bend and is really used for Buzzbaits.
  20. Looks way too interesting to let it stay in the bag, I'll have to give it a whirl! I'll use both, thanks for the tip! Thanks for your input all! Derrick, If I catch one on it, I'll send it up...LOL
  21. Not at all. When I made my post BassinNY didn't have any info on what his buying guide would contain. He has since clarified this. Again, I think what he's proposing to do is a great idea. My apologies for the confusion, Tom and BassinNY..
  22. LMAO I for some reason see you getting your tacklecraft on and making something similar and posting it in the Tackle Making Forum only to have some whack job become a member for a day lambasting you for stealing her/his idea...LOL
  23. BassinNY, please don't be offended by MHO: What you're proposing is a great idea, although many folks share the same opinion, but some differ and the differing opinions are the ones that keep the discussions alive. The other problem is that fishing products/tackle are constantly changing so by having the same questions popping up just adds to the discussion. Last thing I want to share: Redundancy is what keeps the site interesting as more and more folks become members. You can participate in the redundant threads or not, it's your choice.
  24. We hit summer with some pretty hot temps here in the northeast and I installed an air conditioner in the window at my home. A control knob fell behind a piece of furniture and behind it I found an envelope from B.A.S.S. I think it was a membership renewal. Inside was a promotional spool of Trilene 14 lbs mono, a promotional pack of Gulp Turtleback soft plastics, some promotional literature, the 2005 Bassmaster Classic DVD and this: I've never seen it let alone fish it. I'm assuming it was an answer to the Chatterbait or vice versa, anyone ever fish it and what do you think?
  25. For pure enjoyment and numbers - Spit'n Image I would guess that atleast 85% of all my topwater fish I caught came from a Spit'n Image.
