  1. NitroFreak I love what he is saying here as to working them, Thanks for letting me add my 2 cents, keep in mind a spinner is nothing more than a fancy jig, when you are "working" a spinner bait and the same goes for crank baits, make sure you are in contact with what ever you are fishing, cover or structure, you have to make these things change direction to be more successful with them, bump them then pause, then run it into something else, yes you will get hung up from time to time, fish them like you intend to do just that, yes you will lose one or two, but if your not working them as Ranger said your not going to be as effective as you would just cranking them back to you in a straight line, you will get bit doing that but not nearly as much as if you work the bait. Hope that helps as well and thanks again Ranger !!!
  2. Those evolution Jigs a sweet, now if I can get Bobby to respond to the PM I sent last Monday, I just may purchase some...LOL Very well done CPBass, you should have no problem getting an oinker to hit that!
  3. I'm so sorry to hear that Teal, my thoughts and prayers to you and your family. My sister has just recently finished her radiation treatments for breast cancer and she was in a bit more advanced stage with it. Keep strong for your dad and your family and he will come thru this as my sister did. A bunch of folks here had been, and still are, very supportive to me during my sisters ordeal and I can not thank them enough. I'm sure you'll find out the same. Good luck my friend. John
  4. I was thinking more like Charles Manson...LOL...J/K
  5. Before Mke became a sponser here, he gave me a few Lead Free Brush jigs in anticipation for MA's lead ban, I think it was back in 2011 and I still fish them. IMHO, these jigs are as close to an all purpose jig as you can get. Like 00 Mod points out, if your in a rock situation then a football jig is probably a better choice, but Mike's Brush Jig doesn't do to bad in rocks or any other structure/cover situation if you're in a pinch or don't want to tie on another jig.
  6. You're gonna love that!
  7. When we see young folks with multiple piercings, we say: "He looks like he fell in my tackle box!"...you proved me right...LOL Man, that looked like it hurt! ROFL...Great pic tho! Norcal, that's a fine looking hat you're wearing!

  14. Was it in the 90's JF when they came out with the split grips? I couldn't remember, they took so darn long to gain popularity. Back then I thought they would never make it in the bass fishing world.
  15. I did the same thing ww2farmer, tried others but went right back to the lure I caught my first bass on.
  16. I'm with flyfisher, I think it's totally a preference thing. I have a rod I liked but hated the grip on it. I found myself not using that rod more and more because it was so uncomfortable, so one winter I split the grip on it. What a difference it made!
  17. For the most part, neither, but if i want more lift/bigger profile and I know I will come thru sparse cover, I will add a 3" grub on a trailer hook. As stated above, if a fish hits the bait and doesn't button up, kill the retrieve, the fish will circle the wagons to hit it again. If you find that the fish are consistently short striking, then speed up the retrieve on subsequent casts. The fish have already told you that you have the right lure on, now it's up to you to do something about it. By speeding up, the fish won't have time to abort the mission at the last second. More often than not, this technique works.
  18. All my best to you clayton. You'll get thru your health issues in no time, I wish you the speediest recovery. As far as your personal life, it will be tough at first, especially since you have kids, but I think you have a great outlook on it and again, I hope for nothing but the best for you.
  19. Man, does that look sweet!!! Great job guys!
  20. That was an outing we had with 6 or 8 of us BR members from MA in 2011. I wish I could attend the roadtrip.

  24. I used to love it, MCS, when I was younger because you could go skiing in the winter and of course do all the warm weather activities, but you start to hate it when your joints get older and you have to work for a living...LOL
  25. My tease was leaving my house in 5* weather last Thursay morning and hitting central FLA in 75* weather that afternoon. It got up to about 80* by Saturday and Sunday I was back in the high teens when my flight landed.
