  1. You betchya, like papajoe mentions, real feathers and tied sparse, here's one I tied a couple of years ago and still going strong: Heddon was producing the Super Spook Jr with a dressed treble, but I haven't looked on Lurenet.com in a while.
  2. I couldn't believe it, but I've been working in Boston off of Beacon Street along the Charles the last 2 weeks. The building was flooded due to the recent cold snap (Polar Vortex) and had some pipes crack and filled the basement where the boilers were located. Well anyway, the Charles was solid ice, but today I saw a lot of open water. Too bad we're in for another cold snap by mid-week.
  3. A lot of walking type lures, Spook Jrs included, do have a fair amount of "roll" on the retrieve where the lure will "roll" on it's side during the walk and I think the fish do see that and it can make a difference. It depends if you put lure color in any importance. For me, it's all about what I feel confident in using.
  4. I don't throw cranks on a straight braid, but I do use braid and a leader for cranks. I like braid because you can get thin diameters as flyfisher mentions and a leader of say 6-8'. The 6-8' leader won't impede the depth, it's the other 40' plus that will. Just my $0.02
  5. Getting close to that time again, with the recent warming trend, I wonder if any of our water down the Cape or Plymouth had any soft water? I see some here and there, but still considerable amounts of ice. If any soft water is out there, it will be frozen by mid-next week when the next arctic blast comes in. Anyone get a license yet? I'm looking to do that soon. I haven't even looked to see if we had any increases yet.
  6. My 13 y/o daughter just happened to come by and ended up watching the vid...well most of it, she got pretty tweaked from it...LMAO
  7. Might be time to join the winning team and go across the bay...Niner Sr.?.?.? EDIT: Congrats!
  8. Great to hear Nitro, that's a great step forward towards a long journey. All my best! John
  9. Thankfully I haven't had to do that since '09...but, now I think I just jinxed myself...LOL
  10. Awesome, glad all went well...speedy recovery my friend!
  11. Could be the possum or souse meat...Either way, something crawled up his @$$ and wants to get out in a hurry... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/127114-foodcooking-forum/?p=1423042
  12. Goose feathers so Raider can wipe his butt multiple times without having to go out to the golf course to chase one down every time he eats at Taco Bell!
  13. Here's a Janns Netcraft spinnerbait I used to catch my PB on a week and a half after ice out a couple of years ago. It's a 1/2 oz single blade I used for slow rolling the bottom:
  14. I never really thought about it until you mention it Raider, I'll have to sit down and really defecate on that...
  15. Excellent read Tom. The way I read that section of the book and what I took away from it was that Denny believed all aspects were important and he didn't rate or stress one aspect over the other.
  16. That size and style is finding it's way into the saltwater striper crowd here in New England. It will have some lift to it with the big blade, so switch to a smaller blade like A-Jay mentions to keep it down. You may have to retrieve a bit faster, but bang as many obstructions as you can and you'll have fun with that!
  17. I often think about this subject and can not for the life of me figure out which are more important. I asked Larry Dahlberg the question about lure color and I thought his view on color was really interesting, especially his last statement: "My experience is that color is less important than what the lure actually does. On topwater lures I've been searching for a color they won't bite! I've seen times when they react to fluorescent colors like chartruese and orange better than any thing else. Most large predators fit into the match the hatch thing, but also remember they have a role in natural selection that means part of their job includes getting rid of things that don't belong or are out of place. best, L" I also thought Denny Brauer's take on it was quite interesting. I read it in his book and can't find the quote, so I'll have to paraphrase: He basically says that he has no idea what a bass thinks a lure is or perceives it to be, so he'll use a lure that appeals to most if not all of the bass senses. If he has all those tools at his disposal, than he'll certainly try to stack the odds in his favor. To me, if your fishing a lure, why not use Denny's logic?
  18. Can't go wrong with those hooks. As far a sizes are concerned I typically have seen the following combinations on 1/2 oz lipless cranks: #6 both belly and rear #4 belly and #6 rear #4 both belly and rear #2 belly and #4 rear #2 both belly and rear (this combo works on most lipless cranks anyway) Hope this helps and good luck!
  19. Man, that's just dirty pool!
  20. That would be a Red Sox team prior to '04!...For 86 YEARS!
  21. And a lot of upside for years to come! I wouldn't be p1$$ed for too long.
  22. LMAO...It doesn't bother me Tom, you're one of the few that makes me laugh on this site, I can give a rat's @$$ what you think of the Patriots and I know you'll be rooting for the other team next week, should be fun reading your posts. It's all good fun Bud!
  23. You may be right flyfisher, A-Rod could have started the juice in a contract year or he got on the juice in Texas to live up to the contract. I thought he explained that in his "public" interview on TV, but you never know. I'll give you that.
