  1. Good job!
  2. One of my favorite times to fish for bass is when bluegill spawn. Saw some beds last Sunday and hope to take advantage of this period tomorrow. Good luck to those who are on the water or have plans this weekend to be on the water.
  3. I was 7 back in '73, so my butt would have been wiped by those great fishermen.
  4. As stated above, it really could be anything. A few years ago I got new line over the winter, went fishing and was breaking off like crazy. Long story short, the line was dried out and was junk. Bought new line, respooled and had no problems. Like @Catt say, it's fishing and not catching.
  5. Thank you A-Jay, this is the first time in a very long time I had to zoom out the display on my screen to read a post.
  6. That's good news. I'll be up in Maine, so hopefully they'll be there when I land. Thanks for the reports fellas.
  7. Martin, happy birthday bud! There are threads about PB lures that the member's used and there was a wide variety from worm, jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits to a bottle cap. What it all came down to was using a lure your confident in and location. Have fun and happy birthday.
  8. @Log Catcher, LMAO! That would be great, but it appears that it's getting harder and harder and more expensive to navigate your way thru life these days. I just hope she makes a soft landing after college and hits the ground running. Thanks for the kind post fellas, really appreciative.
  9. Hard to believe that my daughter is graduating from high school tonight. Where did the time go?! Amanda is graduating with high honors and received 2 scholarships towards her college education. Sorry, not trying to brag, just proud!
  10. Welcome to the site, I south of you and just north of @DogBone_384.
  11. I'd be curious as to how you do on the stripers, I'm looking to fish them in the next couple of weeks.
  12. Like @Log Catcher I use them t-rigged. I'm fishing weedy lakes and find that the t-rig hangs up less. Like most have posted I basically slow roll, but will hop along if nothing is hitting on a slow roll. Swim Senkos have been the hotter baits for me.
  13. My son had a tournament last weekend starting on Friday, so I took Friday off and hit Houghton's pond in the morning for my first fish since my outing just after ice out. Got 4 with the biggest at 2 lbs. All were on a Swim Senko t-rigged with a 3/16 oz bullet weight (brass). nothing hit the Rippin Rap or a spinnerbait. Felt good to get out and get the juices flowing again.
  14. That'll teach ya for posting pics of your bathroom reno for mother's day...hahaha
  15. @A-Jay, how'd these wanna be's work for you?
  16. In this book, he talks about an assortment of lures he uses and techniques/patterns on where to use them. As mentioned above, he did like crankbait fishing.
  17. Very similar to a Charlie Brewer Slider. Not sure who makes that one.
  18. I'm close to it. Don't have any time anymore. My son's baseball season is getting longer, this year his season will go into August. When it's done I have maybe 6-8 weekends at my home in Maine to relax a bit and then projects start up at one of the houses. Last year I didn't even get a fishing license. Darn close to just getting rid of all my gear and calling it quits.
  19. No need to clean the pipe's interior, you did a good job cleaning the exterior though. Sand the interior of the fitting itself, the end you're going to slide over the pipe and solder. only need to get in there about a 1/2" - 3/4" or so. Maybe sand the end of the pipe where you cut it off one more time just for confidence that you're getting a good solder job. Looks good so far!
  20. @islandbass, don't forget emery cloth. Very important to use to clean pipe and fitting to ensure a good water tight install. What year is your house? If your house is old enough, chances are they used cast iron for the drain. The threaded end you have sticking out now could very well be the same connection to the house drain. You may be able to get away from soldering all together. Good luck on your install
  21. Can you assemble the new adapter to the tub spout and take a pic? It almost looks like you have to cut the existing pipe anyway, based on an install instruction on a Delta Faucet Cassidy Spout, it looks like that adapter can be installed about 1/2" to 1 1/4" from the tiled wall. One other thing I'm noticing. The new spout has a shower diverter on it, does the old one have a diverter on it or is the diverter on the shower valve? How do you switch from tub filling to shower? Take a pic of your water valve. Like @12poundbass mentions, take off the O-Ring prior to soldering, you can put a wet rag under the part your soldering like @deaknh03 mentions. Clean both the pipe and adapter surfaces with emery paper (plumbers sand paper), flux the pipe, install adapter in place and heat the adapter with a torch. Add solder to the edge of the pipe and adapter all around and it should just flow in. Wipe the joint with the wet rag while hot and wait til the part cools down before installing the O-Ring. Again, Teflon tape the threaded end that attaches the spout to the adapter. Install the spout. No need to over tighten the spout. Run a small bead of clear silicone caulk around the spout. When you turn the water on, you may get some nasty colored water for a few seconds, this is normal.
  22. I removed an old Symmons Shower Valve in my house and replaced it with a Moen. I had to open the tiled wall to get at the valve and sweated the new one in and used these items. I didn't want to buy a canister of propane, so I decided to get an adapter for my grill tank. Here's the links. Torch Tip Tank adapter Worked perfect!
  23. Looks good from the pic. The important thing is, does mom like it?
