  1. Oh wow, this is absolutely perfect @A-Jay! Thanks a million, I really appreciate that.
  2. I use the longer ones on a Texas Rig and the shorter ones as a trailer for a jig.
  3. Couldn't find this thread this morning...?...I didn't realize it got moved. Anyway, a drop shot in freshwater and a dropper loop rig in saltwater are basically the same thing. Anyone have ideas on sinker weights for say 20', 40' and 60' of water?
  4. Black Sea Bass will go for a bucktail jig on a dropper loop rig from what many folks tell me. The pyramid weight surprises me, thanks a million for the tip. I wrote that one down.
  5. Hey @Bostonbean1313, Most of my boating is in a bay on the opposite coast from you and was pretty much in the same predicament as you're finding yourself in. I went with an Edgewater 158 cs - https://www.ewboats.com/boat-models/heritage/158cs/ and will plan on dropping in lakes in the fall. Good luck with your decision.
  6. I'm forced to learning new techniques and the drop shot technique will be very similar to the saltwater version. The scenario: Most fish will be found on deep rocky structure. The structure could be rock pile, rocky bottom, wrecks, reefs and jetties. The places I've mapped are areas that will be in the 20' to 60' max. What size sinker and shape for rocky conditions? If drop shotting a jig, what size weight? Line strength and material? How high up the line would you tie the lure/jig/hook? I've deep sea fished a couple of times on a charter, but It was a long time ago, so any advice is much appreciative.
  7. I'm on the ocean a lot and the seas can turn on a dime in any given time. When you see that "biggest swell you've ever seen" coming towards you and you need to either get over it or get the heck out of there in front of it then give me all the HP I can put on the boat. Otherwise, if I'm on a fairly small, calm body of water then is the added expense to the motor and fuel really that important for a few HP more? In all honestly, I guess it's really what your pocket book can handle?
  8. Just wanted to stop in and say hello and happy holiday's. The retina in my left eye separated a couple of years ago leaving some permanent damage to my vision. Even with prescription glasses it's hard to tie a lure on a line let alone picking out a birds nest in my baitcaster. Although, I should be able to do the latter blind folded at this point...?. So fishing has been pretty much on the back burner for a couple of years. I feel like a hypocrite coming to a site like this talking about fishing while not being able to get out there and performing it. That's about to change in 2021. Although I won't be chasing freshwater bass I will be chasing saltwater bass. I got rid of 2 Zodiac boats this past year to make room for a 2021 Edgewater 158 CS which is being shipped up in early March. With some mods to the mooring I have in Kennebunkport, ME, it will sit in the bay for the season. I'm hoping to learn a new (to me) technique of drifting and vertical fishing on a dropper rig. It will hopefully be less tying and casting for me while I drift over reefs, rocky bottoms, wrecks etc. for black sea bass. I'll probably set-up a tube for trolling for striped bass as well. So, I'll be active a little more asking questions about the Garmin electronics that comes equipped on the boat, questions about the drop shot - the dropper rig is pretty much the same and weights for the water depths I think I'll be fishing. I'm really looking forward to this new journey and look forward to pulling up an ice block to lend an ear and learning from you all again. Happy Holidays! John
  9. Agree on you opinion on the inline. Love your 1 - 2 punch with the Ned Rig!
  10. If you decide to get rid of them, let me know, I would like to acquire some
  11. Thank you. It’s a matter of the the material they stamp from and the machine. Not huge differences but differences none the less. It’s a great presentation, isn’t it!? We don’t have shad up here but when fry are in shallow it can get nuts. TY for the comment. Thank you. Was hoping to get into head weights and shapes then maybe put some seasonal patterns together and have a discussion on that? We’ll see, it doesn’t appear to be a lot of spinnerbait fishermen here.
  12. Not yesterday here in the northeast. Way too windy. The Nor'Easter that rolled thru dropped the pressure by 30 millibars. Not worth the casting practice.
  13. The Texas Rig Police are out...? I’ve been doing it like this for years and see no real problem rigging it this way. Bullet sinker goes on top and you don’t pick up any more debris than normal. Thanks for your opinion, it’s appreciated
  14. @Munkin...LMAO!!
  15. To keep the worm from sliding down the hook.
  16. Not sure, I fish main and secondary channels.
  17. Until the Texas Rig Police tell me I can't, it's over the eye and knot. Worm kept in place with a swivel.
  18. Thank you. What's gonna get lost here is the color selection. This illustration is NOT just for blades, this illustration works for skirt material, soft plastic, hard plastic, name your favorite lure material here.
  19. My 6 1/2" worm drive is still in service. Can't think of a better saw to go to a framing party with. I still have a Paslode cordless framing nailer that takes a CO2 cartridge.
  20. Couldn't agree more. Floor prep is everything and a smooth surface is a must. I actually like the LVT's (luxury Vinyl Tile) that are out now. About a year ago, I pulled up my sheet vinyl floor in the kitchen and put in a 6" x 36" vinyl plank. It was a commercial grade with a wear top that's supposed to last 15 years with normal wear and tear. I put it down with pressure sensitive adhesive to keep it from shifting. One day, something sharp was dragged on the floor and damaged a plank/tile. I was timed: The old tile was removed and replaced with new in 27 seconds. You can't do that with sheet vinyl. The color selection is way better with LVT. Rip up, surface prep and install took me a day in a room that was 12 x 12.
  21. I'll keep you in my thoughts and my fingers crossed.
  22. I'm with ya, I read your opening post. I'm still gonna give it a whirl. You can't invent or improve unless you experiment, can you? I'm all about thinking outside the box.
  23. LMAO! Couldn't agree more. Paralysis by analysis. I try not to think TOO much when I go fishing. @Mobasser, I've never thought about that, but understand the theory behind it. I'll give it a try.
  24. Admittedly, I can't say I never had this happen to me, but sadly, I got my money's worth on the claw side of the hammer when I first bought it........Ah what the H3LL, if it wasn't for mistakes, we wouldn't have experience.
  25. Caught my PB with one, so I can understand why...:)
