  1. It's the dialog of others that sway our decision to our purchases. I started out looking at a Key West, then went to Whaler, Mako, GW and ended up with an Edgewater. What caught my eye on this thread was the Dauntless. There are 2 beauties in the bay where my boat is moored and if I didn't have a note on my summer home I would buy the Dauntless in a snap. I also went smaller than I wanted as well. This summer's hurricane season reminded me why. I've been mooring a boat in the bay since 2010 and this summer was the first time I had to get it out of the bay due to a pending storm coming up the coast. The bay has a river on either end of the bay and we have friends who have a home well inside the river. I was able to get my boat down there and tied off to his dock. A boat bigger than 17' doesn't make it down there and the hassle of pulling the boat out meant taking a day off from work to do so. When the seas are rough - and I respect the seas - going to the river(s) gets you on the water either way with plenty of schoolie striper in those rivers. All I did was plant a seed as someone did for me. Keep doing your homework as I know you are and I wish you luck with you decision.
  2. I guess it a good thing I wasn’t working on your bank acct , I would have thought 1 bag for the tools to go to work with and the other for tackle to pond hop with after work. ? Glad it worked out buddy.
  3. Good luck on the new rig! Sounds like it's already working out for you. ?
  4. Get yourself a $25 or $50 or whatever visa/master card gift card and give it a whirl. If it's a scam then you're out a few bucks on a card with a limit. ?
  5. That I have to check out
  6. Sinkers and water in NYC take on a whole different meaning...It is fishing related though...it has to do with sleeping. ?
  7. So the snap and weight are free to slide? Ok, I was thinking it would be like a drop shot in reverse. Weight tied to main line and lure at the end where the weight would be for the DS?
  8. You're not really wrong. ? Is that what you have at the lake home?
  9. These trolling weights are from Janns Netcraft how would you rig these? I've never trolled for fish and I got these for another application, but now winter boredom has set in and it has me wondering how to rig them for trolling?
  10. No pics, it hasn't shipped from Florida yet. Supposed to be shipping next week. The Edgewater 230CC - 22'8" Center Console - Drafts 15"
  11. I'll be up front, I didn't read thru the whole thread. I was in the whaler camp before I was talked into an Edgewater. The owner of Edgewater was the senior designer for Whaler, so his boat have all the same capabilities. What comes standard on the Edgawater are options on the whaler...I found. Coincidently, they're both manufactured within mile of each other. The Northeast rep is still in my phone if you want to get more info.
  12. I'm thinking a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza...IDK...Possibly...Could be...We'll see ? My daughter and wife want loaded potato skins for an appetizer My son wants thick cut potato chips Go TB....12!! You homer!! ?
  13. Honestly, it's like when you first start driving a car. You go out with someone experienced and rack up time on the water until you feel comfortable. Just like driving a car except there's no brake...?
  14. Those will get'em @TnRiver46!
  15. I feel like I struck a nerve, my apologies for posting this topic. I'll be done with it.
  16. I thought it was the MegaFlopper...? Anyway, he just got in like 20,000 tube of MegaStrike scent...grab it while it lasts!
  17. Just got off the phone with Bobby Uhrig ...Yep, he's still nuts!!! ? BTW: There's been some interest here on spinnerbaits and the MegaStrike StrikeBack is by far the best spinnerbait I've ever fished. Oh yeah, I've heard through the grapevine that his buzzbaits aren't to shabby either...anyone remember the name of that buzzbait?
  18. First of all, I respect your post, please don't misconstrue the following as an attack. Not sure what's going on your waters and why they have a lot of boating accidents, but I've been ocean boating on Maine's coast for close to 20 years and have yet to see any accidents. The closet I saw a damaged boat was when one washed up on an island because the chain to the mooring rusted thru and let go of the boat. I can honestly say that I have really never met anyone obnoxious on the water. Just very friendly people. Now if you don't want any more government mandated rules then the boating accidents on your inland waters really need to be curbed. Otherwise, expect more intervention. Bad behavior will certainly breed new rules.
  19. Pretty much exactly what's going on. I ordered my boat a week after labor day and the dealer I bought mine from told me they were having the best year they ever had. They had no new or used boats on the lot. . Around here you can't find a used boat to save your life and most manufacturers can't promise you getting your rig for boat season.
  20. Good to hear! Congrats.
  21. Exactly! ? Oh and Catt, for a Yankee, I do make a darn good Jambalaya. ?
  22. This will be our first "new" boat and my family will all be taking the course so that they can drive it as well. Plus, it's a good way to keep us all accountable on the water. Thanks bud.
  23. Besides grilling I'm more into the comfort foods on the weekends.....Pizza (homemade dough and sauce) - Chicago deep dish pizza, Chili, Clam Chowder, Ravioli, gnocchi, thin spaghetti, blueberry and apple pies. I don't eat a ton of fried food but we're already talking about twice fried potato skins and thick cut potato chips for my son for the super bowl. The nice part of cooking is when your children like to jump in and help. My daughter will cook with me and my son will cook with my daughter.
  24. Exactly why I'm doing it. ? This course was too, but I found the information very beneficial. ? I'm going back over a few things that need refreshing already. ? You're far more polite than I would have been. ? Here as well. ? I think it really should be. ? Believe it or not, that was covered as it should be.?
