  1. I was mackerel fishing a few years ago with the family in Scotland. Simply tackle, crap reel and a bunch of hooks and feathers. I was working my feathers in the sea catching loads of mackerel, when all of a sudden something enormous grabbed my line, put a bend in the rod like i've never seen before and went crazy. It broke me off within 10 seconds. I have no idea what the hell it was, Royal Navy submarine perhaps? The biggest fish i've ever SEEN, i was fortunate to land. My PB 26lb Atlantic Salmon
  2. Oakleys are amazing, and you won't regret them. I used to fish with Oakleys, but i've since switched to Costa Del Mar because i love the quality of their polarized lenses. But Oakley are an excellent choice, you can't go wrong with them 8-)
  3. This happened to me before, when i was salmon fishing in scotland. I thought i was into a 20 pounder when the reel went screaming. I shouted to my brother to bring the big net, and when i got the fish in it was about 4 pounds but hooked in the belly. Its amazing how much bigger they feel when they're foul hooked
  4. I hooked a swan once when i was fly fishing. That was one angry bird. I also know a guy who hooked and landed a condom. Not nice!
  5. Hey guys, loving the forum. Let me introduce myself. I'm from London in the UK and i'm currently over visiting my parents in Montreal. (As it happens, i'm stranded by the volcano!). I do a lot of fishing in the UK, but its all fly fishing for salmon and trout, which i've been doing for over 10 years. My parents live right on a lake, and i was desperate to do some fishing here. But what did i find when i looked online, the season was closed! I was absolutely gutted (pun intended), because i really wanted to do some bass fishing to see what all the fuss was about. So i desperately looked to see where i could fish legally, and ended up taking a trip down to Champlain in Vermont and went out on a fantastic charter trip. I caught 6 smallies (biggest 3.5lbs), and a small largemouth. I had such a great time, and i can totally see why you guys go crazy for these fish! When you strike into one of those babys, there's nothing like it in the world! So now i'm totally hooked, and i can't wait to go again, although it probably won't be for some time. Pity there arent any bass in the UK
