  1. Stick worms are getting it done! That's almost all I've used on my last three outings. I don't know why the pics are sideways on here.
  2. Gotta love farm ponds. White spinner and bluegill Lindy darter.
  3. Hey man, nice Fish.I found this about Hamburg pond.I Getting There: Head north on I-270 towards Frederick; merging onto US 15 and then taking exit 13B onto US 40 W/Baltimore National Pike. After driving through a built-up area that features several stoplights, US 40 eventually turns into a decent high-speed road. Follow it for approximately 8 miles to turn right on Harmony Road. Turn right on Coxey Brown Road and follow it until it dead ends on Gambrill Pike Road. Turn left. Be alert for the right-hand turn onto Hamburg Road. The pond is on the right approximately 0.6 miles from the turn onto Hamburg. After the turn, be alert since the entrance to the pond is unmarked. The only indicator is a 25 yard stretch of side road and the glimmer of water through the underbrush. If you do not have a high clearance vehicle, take care as you cut right onto the "service road." There is plenty of room for parking here – both on the service road or on the main dirt road.
  4. Hey dcfdpipeman, WV's directions to the Brunswick pond look accurate, but those are some very tight lipped bass. There are a lot in there, but there seems to be plenty of baitfish for em, so they don't hit lures much. I have caught up to 3 1/2 pounders there though. Brownsville, on 67, is better. I went there yesterday and picked up a couple spawners on Zoom Horny Toads. They would smack different buzzbaits, but they only ate the frogs, I think because there are a lot of real ones there. They were both about two pounds, but they were full of eggs. I also got a crappie on a tiny torpedo. Brownsville also has cats and carp, if you're interested in those. It's a nice little pond that's super easy to get around. You should avoid the area by the big tree until your leg is healed, because of the roots and mud. By the way, last year I got a 4 1/2 lb lm on a shakey head from there, and Sean(basser89) said he has caught a 6 pounder there. I highly recommend checking it out.
  5. Last time I was at the river was when it was raining a lot. The current was too fast to work a lure properly. I've never caught anything when the water is muddy, other than cats, they love it. It's probably much better now. The backwaters are great. My buddy was fishing "the gut", as the locals call it, and said the fish were hitting everything he threw.
  6. Hey Tex, nice fish. That's a lot better than I've done lately. I've caught one bass in the last week and a half. The river was really high and fast, as well as muddy.
  7. I got out to the Potomac today for a couple hours. I caught three smallmouth, all on a green pumpkin Yum Buzzfrog. I had a lot of short hits on other topwaters, and some nibbles on crawbugs. The bass were very active. I saw a ton of jumping bass especially just below the riffles. Unfortunately those were just out of my casting range. I wish I was out in a boat.
  8. I usually say "there he is", or "got one". If it's big I say " get the net, it's Bubba" or "he's a chunckster". I also talk a lot as I'm releasing them. I say stuff like "nice to meet ya" and " thanks buddy".
  9. Congrats Brian. Exciting stuff. I myself am not good enough to fish tourneys. :'( My friend and I went to Loch Raven today and rented a boat. I spent 13 hours on the water and managed a grand total of one fish, and it wasn't a bass. It was a 15 inch Chain Pickerel. But that's cool because it was my first catch of the species. My friend caught two bass on power worms, one about two pounds and the other a dink. It was still a really fun day though.
  10. I was fishing from the bank here in brunswick, about a quater mile down from the boatramp. The water is pretty clear now.
  11. Hey guys, I just got back from the river(Potomac). I caught four smallmouth. Two on a green tube, and two on a black and gold flake Yamamoto double-tail hula grub. They were all about a pound, but still a lot of fun. So, if your going to the river, I suggest crawfish imitations, and work them very slow. BwickBH, I will probably go out again later this week. During the week, I'm free after 3 or 4pm. Anytime on the weekends. Let me know what's good for you.
  12. Hey WV, if you lost a little silversided, blackback crank that looks like a Cordell, I have it but the hooks are rusted. It was in that tree. Welcome BwickBassHunter. I fish here in Brunswick a lot. Anytime you want to go after 'em let me know. 8-) On another note, I have been fishing a backwater area off the Potomac, here in Brunswick. I went twice this week, and hooked and lost five largemouth over two pounds. I don't usually lose fish that I have hooked, so this is driving me crazy. It makes me want to keep going back 'til I get them though. It's this kind of challenge that makes me REALLY love bass fishing. ;D
  13. Basser-Amanda caught her fish on a texas-rigged pumpkinseed powerworm. He was in the middle of the bigger side of the pond. I think he hit it on the fall after the cast.
  14. I took my friend Amanda to brownsville on Saturday, for her first ever fishing experience. She got the casting down pretty quickly, then caught a nice 3 lb bass! I'm pretty sure she'll be fishing again.
  15. Went out to Brownsville yesterday and caught three fish. Two were small and hit a red shakey head worm. The third was 3 pounds. I saw him sitting under the tree and threw a black pond magic buzzbait at him. He hit on the second pass. This is my first buzzbait bass.
