  1. Those are two rivers I really want to explore! Especially the Big Piney. Saw one of my buddies pull an absolute dinosaur of a Smallie out of the 'Nade.
  2. Indeed Oh yes that site has been a gold mine of information for me. And, I mainly float the James River outside of Springfield and Beaver Creek down by Branson. My goal this summer is to learn the Buffalo River down in Arkansas. I also try to make a trip or two up to the Namakagon River in WI. Incredible fishery.
  3. Hello everyone in the Smallmouth Bass forum! I discovered Bass Resource when I was first figuring out how to catch largies from farm ponds in Central Missouri over ten years ago. I moved down to Springfield for school in 2015 and got away from bass fishing. In fact, I almost sold my gear on a few occasions. Well, two summers ago I decided to get a canoe and start fishing the numerous rivers in Southern Missouri for Smallmouth. I got hooked into bass fishing all over again! But this time it's in the rivers for the brown fish. There's something so amazing about pulling a smallmouth out of crystal clear water. I don't think I can do any other fishing. I thought I would hop back onto Bass Resource and "meet" some other smallie anglers from around the country!
  4. Hello all, I'm moving down to Springfield for college, and I'm curious about the fishing there. I know about Lake Springfield, but is there any other lakes worth fishing? I don't own a boat or anything so if there's some smaller lakes I definetely would like to know about those. I can't find much on the internet unfortunately. Any help would be appreciated!!
  5. Well now that the weather has been in the sixties for the last three days, basically whenever I get a few hours.
  6. Greetings, I'm planning on fishing the two lakes (Clearfork and Buteo) at Knob Noster State park, Mo. I've never fished them, and I was wondering if any of you Missourians have. If you have could you give me some reports and/or tips? I'll probably be fishing in my bellyboat if that helps. Thanks!
  7. Thank you everyone for the replies, this helps a lot!
  8. I definitely want to stand, so I'll take a look into the Ascend. Thanks!
  9. Yeah I do, I'll check it out. I'm open to anything right now
  10. Hello, I understand there's been many threads about kayaks, but I was wondering if y'all kayakers could give me some advice. I definitely want to buy a kayak, but I've never fished out of one so I don't know much. I don't need anything super big or fancy, I just want to get out on water. I'm a college student so I don't have a whole lot to spend ($300-500), but I'm willing to splurge a little if it's worth the price. Is there anything you guys (or gals) would recommend? I was thinking about buying this one: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=31609916&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.32954906 but I don't know for certain. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,
  11. God bless Merica!
  12. I have read, that in bodies of water where bass are not the top predator, they will remain shallower than bass in a lake where they are the top predator. I don't think it would matter what strain they are.
  13. I've had a couple of weird experiences, but this one is the most recent one. So a friend and I were out at the local lake talking, about 10 o clock at night. All of a sudden we hear gunshots. Like 10 or 12, and they sound like they're coming from the docks about a mile east of our location. We had no idea what was going on so we went back to the docks to investigate. When we got there we didn't see anything. Then all of a sudden we heard the most gut wrenching sound I've ever heard in my life. It was like this screeching noise. The closest thing I could describe to it would be a baby crying. Or maybe a fox (they make messed up noises). Well I start walking towards where the sound is coming from and all of a sudden it just stops. It seemed like everything else went silent too. I turned around and booked it back to the car. My friend was already in there with the doors locked lol. I don't know who shot the guns and what made ethe sound, but when I went back the next day I didn't find a single thing out of the ordinary.
  14. Yeah, I'm going to have a buddy fish with worms, while I fish with artificials. It'll probably be the fastest way to figure out if there's fish in there.
  15. Okay, well I figure it's worth a shot.
  16. Hello, I'm planning on trying to fish (by foot) a little silt basin by Maple Leaf Lake in Missouri. It's about 5 acres and I have no idea if there's fish in there. I was thinking about just packing light and using a spinnerbait to cover alot of water, so I can see if there's even fish in there. What would you do in this situation? Thanks,
  17. T- rigged plastics are the ticket for me. If the pond has cover, concentrate on the cover. I haven't caught too many bass in open water at the ponds I fish. There's some sort of cover that they are relating to. Also, look for bends in the bank. I've found that a bend in the bank is like a flat, and that the bass come there to feed. I've caught alot of fish along a bend in the bank.
  18. I always had succes using Storm Swim shads on little farm ponds I used to fish. You can kinda fish them anyway you want!
  19. I had luck yesterday fishing a Shakeyhead very slow.
  20. Because I fish from shore, I mainly am a "cover fisherman".
  21. The title says it all. In your guys opinion, what line would you recomend for an all-purpose line? On a spinning setup, and baitcasting. Thanks,
  22. I use it for a variety of techniques and I love it. Yes, it's well worth the money!
