  1. I'm guessing that means you don't use it Jfrancho lol? Not trying to sound like a smartalleck. I just have never used a sonar unit before... :-/
  2. Yeah, theoretically, anything that is woven like that should increase breaking strength. That would cetrainly be the ultimate fishing line. I'ld love to get my hands on something like that. As long as it acts more like braid (no memory, tangles, strength, etc) yet retains the invisibility of fluoro, I'm all for it.
  3. I was inside my apartment, putting studying off for finals. I grabbed my flipping stick and began practicing pitching. I got about two pitches in when I reeled in, grabbed the jig, and pulled back a little on the line. Very light pressure. Next thing I know, CRACK! tip snaps off the rod about three inches from the top. I have really loved this rod but the build quality was not the best. About a week or so after getting it, one of the silver metallic rings that adorns the handle came off. Before this incident, I liked the rod so much that I went ahead and got a 6'6 Medium for weightless/light weighted plastics and top waters. This was my Christmas present. I also planned on replacing the rest of my rods with Daiwa Zillions and Fuegos. I hope this rod was an exception to the rule and their build quality has improved. Any experiences with Daiwas Warranty people? Can anyone attest to the quality of Daiwa products? This is my first experience with them so any input is appreciated! Carlos
  4. As far as NC goes (noticed your Raleigh, NC stat) you got the Mayo, Dan, Uwharrie, New, Yadkin, French Broad, and some others. Out of all those I have personally fished the Mayo, Dan, Uwharrie and the New. I have caught smallmouth in all. This was at the very beginning of the summer though when I had JUST started fishing. What does this mean? If I could catch one back then lol, well its safe to say there had to be pretty stable populations of fish! If you are ever close to any of those rivers, I would definitely check them out.
  5. Hey all, I've really been looking into getting a Daiwa Fuego Spinning rod for my Drop Shot, Shakey head, wacky senko, senko, Splitshot rig, etc. They have: 1.) 6'9 Med Lt that handles 1/16 up to 3/8 2.) 6'10 Med that handles 3/16 up to 1/2 For those things that I described, finesse techniques, what would be the best bet? I am leaning towards the med lt because I think that since I will be throwing mostly finesse stuff, I won't ever really need to go much above 1/2. The closest I would come to 1/2 would be with a 3/8 drop shot weight with the bait and hook making up the rest of that 1/8. Am I right in my thinking or am I just going to be underwhelmed as far as power goes? Thanks guys, Carlos
  6. hahaha that's the funniest comment ever. I bent down to pick it up and the fish started going wild! It splashed me so bad. I was actually really mad at the time. This was the first bass ever of "size" that I caught lol.

  9. I have been getting so confused with IDing fish. This was caught very early this summer in a local neighborhood lake in North Carolina.

  12. Thanks for the advice on the lures. I am going to check them out. The fish I am missing are actually probably of "decent size" nothing spectacular but nothing out of this world either. The 'gills I actually manage to land are almost usually always above average. I catch a ton and I mean a TON of crappie on these jigs. It's the blue gills that I can't get. It's actually making me pretty mad.
  13. Yeah. This is in NC too so the rules are probably the same. I have tried to get in contact with the owners but it is actually a company. They have never contacted me back. I'm not going to do anything illegal or even anything that I am unsure about. At this point I am just trying to see what the law is... Carlos

  16. I do have one question FishFordollars. In the scenario you described, you said that I would probably be cuffed and arrested if I "access it from another source and it's situated over private property..." By this, are you referring to the other source (creek) being on private property? Or entering private property (the lake) and then being cuffed? The creek I was looking at is probably just the city's property...

  22. So there is this lake where I live that is supposed to have some of the best fishing in the state. The place however has posted signs all around it. A friend of mine, who was taking some law class in school said to me that you can access "private" bodies of water, such as this lake, as long as you put in from a creek or stream that is public property. is this true? I am hoping that some of you know what the deal is with things like this. Thank you, Carlos

  25. Hey all. It might just be the type of lure I am using but I just cannot seem to get bluegill to lock onto my hook!!! It is really annoying because I get tons of strikes but they just won't get hooked. It is frustrating because as of now, my landing ratio on bluegills is only like 1/10. I don't know if they just can't get their tiny little mouths around the hook. I am using really small yellow grubs on small 1/32oz jig heads. Pretty small stuff. Can you guys recommend anything? Tips please! Carlos PS. I have been on a panfish rampage as of late. I love to catch those little buggers and I usually average about 20 fish in the small amount of time that I go. It's a blast feeling like you're 10 again ;D ;D ;D ;D
