  1. argh! what is wrong with FEDEX? I paid extra for delivery... and they have it in Appleton waiting to come here.. they didn't put it on the truck because "its not scheduled for delivery yet" WTH is up with that???? don't they know how IMPORTANT that box is? ;D I can't wait to spool it up with some 12# hybrid and do some smallie fishing with it next week! AL
  2. I feel the same way... the wife doesn't understand it... she says that I would rather talk to y'all than to her... well she doesn't know what drop shotting or a texas rig is.. and has no desire to learn!... so here I am ;D AL
  3. not to mention he paid for that wrap out of his pocket! that is my all time favorite wrap by far... AL
  4. I have found this to be true... I have a GL2 7 ft MH power Med action and its definatly not nearly as stiff as my St Croix premier MH ... I don't know how the taper would be... maybe a fast action rod would be a bit stiffer.. but I like my GL2 a lot... I caught my PB with that rod and a curado 200BSF AL
  5. I got PACKED I had an amazing experience today, a fishing buddy of mine knew I hadn't ever been to a Packer game and since I am leaving in January for Georgia he decided that was unacceptable Anyone that lives in Wisconsin knows how FANATICAL they are about the Packersso I went with him and let me tell you that was one of the best times I have EVER had in my life the enthusiasm, the atmosphere, the tail gate parties and then there is Lambeau Field WOWI just drank it all in I tell you what while I am not fanatical about the Packers I can easily see why people here are I can't post pictures today I will have to do it tomorrow AL
  6. holy camel crap!!! that is some serious money the monkey got you for!!! it would take me all year to pay that much off! Congrats!

hahahha couldn't ya tell I had to much time on my hands yesterday? yep I have looked here several times... I wasn't going for scientific... I was just thinking out loud AL
  12. I am left handed so when I used a spinning reel I would switch the handle over to the right side... then when I started using a BC the handle was on the right so it wasn't something I had to "learn" to do... I got a left handed BC and I just couldn't do it so I had to trade it off for a righty. AL
  13. Last weekend was the last two tournaments of the year for my Club... one was on Sturgeon Bay and the other on the Menominee River... both WORLD CLASS smallie fisheries... well luck would have it a cold front moved thru on Friday and kept on coming thru all weekend... so MY fishing was extremely slow.. but here is the awsome part... I got to fish with some AMAZING smallie fishermen... I learned so much... I learned I was using the wrong equipment I should have been using spinning gear with my tubes rather than a baitcaster... I tried the spinning reel but it just didn't feel right... but I still managed a decent 2lb fish... while my boater landed over 18# sack!!! I was VERY glad to witness that.. and I learned alot then Sunday I went to the river with the mindset I got on Saturday... only problem was the boater Sunday didn't fish ANYTHING like the guy on Saturday, saturday was slowwwwwwww Sunday the guy fished a lot faster ;D So there went that idea how the window... SO I figured to heck with it.. lets have some fun... so I started throwing a drop shot... I had only fished with a drop shot ONCE BEFORE.. but I caught a fish so what the heck... I hooked onto a BEAUTIFUl 2.12# smallie... he ended up with one that was almost 3# but unfortunately the smallies wanted SLOW and we didn't give them that... the winning bag went over 18# again on Sunday.. it was awsome seeing those guys pulling those hogs out... of course I wished it was ME doing it.. but you can only work with what you have to work with and getting mad isn't going to help... I lost probably 10 jigs due to snagging up and ran out of them. it was VERY snaggy on that river but it was fun!!! I WOULD say I can't wait for next year... but I am moving to Georgia this January... so I will HOPEFULLY be able to apply some of my new skills down there on them big ole fish... and to cap this off.... I came in 9th out of 16 for the year standings... while not a stellar performance... not too shabby for a guy that was in a TERRIBLE slump right up intil the last three tournaments! AL
  14. from a "novice" standpoint and I AM most certainly a novice compared to MOST folks here... I think the 200 is more the "standard" size reel... ALL of my reels are the 200 size and they will have the varied gear ratios... Curado just came out with the 300 and that is MUCH more beefy and the line capacity is a lot more... NOW they Curado 100 is the little brother to the 200.. weighs less and holds less line.. if you have small hands or have carpel tunnel or shoulder issues... you might want to SERIOUSLY look at a 100 series reel... NOW I just ordered a MG50 today... it has line capacity like a Curado 100 but a couple of ounces lighter... I might be way off base... but I notice things like this too and I was always curious as to what was up... pick up a 100,200, and the new Curado 300 and you will most definately notice the difference and you will know exactly what I am talking about AL
  15. Its great to see people stepping up to the plate for these brave soldiers! You would be AMAZED at how much we spend on things that while some might say are extravegant for instance last time I was in Iraq were were not issued camel backs, They said that when you have your canteens you don't need those.. well guess what... they are being issued now! HOOAH!!! ... but it just makes life MUCH nicer when you have the stuff that just "works" better. My thoughts and prayers go out to soldiers everyday... and now that the holidays are coming up its nice to see that others are remembering that they are over there especially during the holidays.. it REALLY sucks being over there... I freely admit when I had to spend christmas there I cried like a baby it sucked so bad, missing my family and all... so PLEASE just do SOMETHING for these guys... its amazing the force we have.. and 100% of it is VOLUNTEERS ... GOD BLESS the US Army and GOD BLESS the United States! AL
  16. if you have a GameStop near you that would be the ticket... they sell new AND used PS2s there... AL

ok what I mean is before a thread runs its normal course... there will be about 1 response for every 10 views... for instance... you my well respected friend responded on the 10th view... hence validating my 10% rule hahahaha AL
  18. I know this really isn't on track with the thread so sorry... but I don't know why... but all my GOOD graphics work has been done on an APPLE with Adobe Photoshop... the plugins for Apple are much more robust than for a Windows based PC.. and I don't understand why... if you really want to get into graphics you really should invest in an Apple, most likely Photoshop, and as big of a Tablet as you can afford and they aren't too expensive as when I was doing graphics work... but if you can afford it... Adobe Photoshop is the route... even on a PC it will do amazing things... AL
  19. HOLY SNICKENS!!! that looks like some serious fun... and I HATE fishing for anything but Bass... I think if I hooked onto one of those though... I would be in for a treat! I went fishing up on Sturgeon Bay last weekend and I caught a 32in Northern... or Muskie (toothy no matter which) and that was amazing to pull something that big out... he went right back in though... I was after a killer SMALLIE!!! good luck getting your dream size! AL

Anyone ever notice this? I seem to find that if a topic is semi interesting then approx 10% of the people that VIEW the topic will actually post about it... I have found this to be true on most ALL boards I frequent... NOW if a topic is REAL interesting than you might break the 20% mark but that is VERY seldom.. and then there are the <10% threads... those hurt... someone takes the time to post and no one takes the time to reply.. sometimes its understandable.. sometimes I wonder why it isn't part of the 10% rule YES I have too much time on my hands at work today!!! AL
  21. went and bought me a G.Loomis IMX MBR783C which is 6ft 6 Med-Hvy fast action rod... then today I ordered a Chronarch CH50MG to put on it (should be here next Wed)... I have a couple of Curado Ds and I have a Loomis GL2 rod... but I tell you... it was definately daunting to plunk down that kind of cash for ONE rig... but I am one happy camper... I did all the research on what I wanted for a general all purpose "dream rig" and this one fit the bill perfectly. Sure I could have gone with the pure exotic stuff and spent1K on the set up (not that my better half would have allowed that) ... but for a normal guy like me this is EXACTLY what I think of when I think of a dream setup and then do a homer simpson... uhhhhhhhh FISHING RODS! ummm well except maybe a CUSTOM IMX with a spiral wrap hahahaha... maybe in another year or so if I am a very good boy! its going to take the wife a long time to get over this sticker shock! AL
  22. my first car was a 69 Chevelle SS396 it was hugger orange and I paid 1,400 for it back in 85... *sigh* I was SOOOO stupid, I sold it about a year after getting it... if I knew then what I know now I would have kept that car no matter what! that is why I am doing everything in my power to keep my Camaro right now... I have three cars with two drivers and its going to be January when I go to Georgia... *sigh* the Camaro isn't the car to try and drive inthe winter AL
  23. I usually always wear eye protection... but now after seeing those you can bet I will ALWAYS have some on... even after dark... I have access to some clear safety glasses... I am sure my employer won't mind me using them to protect my peepers... they will fire me if I lose an eye AL
  24. NICE PCI Matt... I am sure you novice is like "what an anal retentive so and so" but organization WILL save lives... A soldier knows this... and in this case saves FISH.. hahahahaha Matt I swear I can hear you on the boat giving a "convoy briefing" hahahaha way to go brother!!!! psssst I am the same way... not so much with the testing drag... but everything has to be layed out and in its place... I still make rookie mistakes... but not because the tools of my trade aren't laid out correctly! hahahahaha AL
  25. ehhh just act like Ike ;D just kidding... be yourself... be nervous at first but then just fish and before you know it you will be fishing and talking and not thinking about a piece of electronic equipment in your boat... try and pretend that you are talking to your family and you are just talking fishing
